Feeding the Fetish

Thank you triple times over for all the shoe suggestions.  I’ve tried almost all of them!   The other day when UPS came to the door our driver had so many shoes my husband had to sign for them.  Yep, he was really happy about signing for shoes.  Keeps saying something about how he should have looked at my feet before he married me.  He thinks he’s funny. Don’t laugh at him, it just makes him worse.

Almost everything has gone back, but I did keep these funky looking pair of Clarks.   FUNKY but so comfortable.  Would have preferred something a bit more feminine…

I actually thought about keeping this pair of Soft Walk shoes with the bit of a strange heel.  They make me stand up straight.  Only shoe that’s ever done that and I’m convinced it makes me look thinner.  Now had they made me look younger I would have kept them!

My friend Nancy wears the same size I do, and she bought two pairs from me that I was going to send back.  She’s going to market with me and wearing my her new shoes. I’m jealous cause I love the style (soft walk clogs), but my feet say no.

My friend Anne, who is also going to market with me suggested we go to the great mall when we get into town and find a Walking Company or something.  Just think I’ll be surrounded with shoes.  Heaven.

So until I get to Minneapolis and the Great Mall here’s a sampling of the comings and goings at Bunny Hill…

I love, love, love these Mephisto’s  but the heel strap is patent leather and not so comfortable.

I sent these Merrell’s back because I thought they looked funky.  Might have been a mistake.  They were comfotable.

If you live in Minneapolis and you’re at the Great Mall look for me… I’ll be the one wearing the Clarks.  Unless more shoes arrive tomorrow.  I can’t remember what I’ve ordered!

Back tomorrow if I have time  for some show and tell!  If not I’ll try and post from Market!

Hugs,

Anne

It’s beginning To Look A Lot Like Market!

I’m getting so excited!  I think this quilt market is going to be one of the best ever.  More and more exciting things are starting to appear on blogs, web sites and ads. New designers are attending market for the very first time, and so many creative ideas are filling the quilting world.  This means great products for all of you!  International Quilt Market, Spring 2010 is going to be so much fun!  New and fresh products, fabrics,  ideas and patterns are just around the corner for all of us!

I leave in just 10 days and it’s looking like a bit of chaos at my house right now.  It always does just before market as we pull together last minute things. Our drapes are fireproofed, an event all on it’s own.   My front yard looks a bit like ma and pa kettle for a day twice a year as my husband “hangs” the drapes to dry.  Why he picks the front yard is beyond me. Our neighbors are used to it and just shake their heads. He could do this in the back yard, but he LOVES doing the drapes so much I don’t dare open my mouth and suggest it.

The boxes are shipped, but not without some excitement.  My husband puts everything on a pallet, shrink wraps, and waits for the freight truck to pick up.  The truck that came this time didn’t have a lift gate, so everything got unwrapped and carried on one by one and then shrink wrapped again.  Oh such excitement! My husband LOVES this too!

And in the middle of it all I’m on a mission to find the most comfortable shoe.  One that will take me from the convention center in Minneapolis to the Hilton without blisters or sore feet.  I’ve been shopping at Nordstom online and every day new shoes arrive.  They come in and go out, as I walk around with different shoes on my feet trying to find the perfect pair.  It’s quite a scene at Bunny Hill.  I’ve returned so many my husband says they are going to put me on a “no sell” list.  I think he might be right! Mephisto, Ugg, Born, Dansko, Finn, to name a few brands.  Spare no expense.  Just give me a comfortable shoe.  I’m still trying to choose one, or two, or three.

And my sweet little animals curl up where they can to watch all the market excitement.   I found Chelsea on a scrap pile of my new fabric.  She loves it and didn’t hesitate to tell me. I didn’t have the heart to move her!

A  return to normal will come sometime soon. Not soon enough if you ask my pets.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hugs,

Anne

Burr there’s a chill in the air!

It’s May 5th can you believe it?  Are you ready for block five of Snowbound?  To think that once a month these little snowmen take over our lives!  If you’re following along with my free block of the month I think you’ll be glad you did.  The quilt is looking pretty cute!

My snowbound quilt is at the quilter’s, embellishments and all!  My quilter Lynne took pity on me and agreed to quilt around the embellishments.  This is an exception and not the norm, so please don’t do this do your quilter.  Wait to sew on all those buttons until your quilt is quilted.  I don’t want emails coming to me from all the quilters out there!  Promise me won’t you?

If you’re working on my “Snowbound” quilt, start collecting snowmen as soon as the Christmas decorations appear.  I’m going to show you how to decorate for Christmas with this quilt and you’ll want a stash of  snowmen to go with it!  Lots of them!  Fair warning:  You have 7 months!

I love it when I can introduce a new quilt pattern and today is the day!  “Tiny Town” is here!  It’s my newest block of the month!  I had so much fun designing this quilt!  Just think what you can do with this little town!  Make it your own by embroidering your house number, shop names, local schools and even your friend’s houses.  While you’re at it pick out a new car and fill it up with gas!  “Tiny Town” is your town!

There’s so much more to come.  May is going to be a fun, fun month!

Back soon!

Hugs to all you “Snowbound” quilters!

Hugs,

Anne

A Tisket A Tasket Quilt Show!

When I designed “A Tisket A Taske” I had no idea how many of you would participate in the fun!  You’ve made me so happy!   It’s amazing to see your wonderful quilts as they are completed and I hope you continue to send me photos throughout the year!  I’m saving them all in a file so every once in awhile I can post them here for everyone to enjoy!  Today is one of those show and tell days!  If I’ve shown any of these before don’t tell me.  Just enjoy!

From Anita van de Spek comes this amazing mixture of “A Tisket A Tasket”  blocks combined with basket blocks.  The setting astounds me!  Why didn’t I think of this?  See how creative she is?  AMAZING!!  My little blocks have taken on an air of sophistication!  Oh la, la, and thank you Anita!

Diane Ruby sent me this wonderful version of her A Tisket A Tasket that she entered in her local quilt show.  She won second place!  A Red Ribbon now hangs with her quilt!  Congratulations Diane!  Your applique is wonderful and so is the quilting!  You’ve made me a proud bunny!  Thank you!!

And look at this cutie with the bright yellow background from Enga in Germany!  The background sets the stage and the applique makes it perfect.  Oh Enga, I am in love with yellow and you’ve used it so brilliantly!  Combined with the brown sashing and cute little hearts, it’s adorable!

From Elli Wiebking comes this little beauty.  It’s just so, so pretty.  I love how she made all the baskets from the same fabric. And the colors, her wonderful colors!  If the applique and the colors don’t grab you that quilting is amazing.  It’s just perfect for the quilt.  It adds so much without being overpowering.  What a beautiful quilt Elli!  Thank you so much for sharing!  Enlarge this photo everyone so you can see how beautiful the quilting is!

And to Carol on my Flickr group I gasped when I saw your quilt.  It is just wonderful!  The colors, the sashing, the applique, the quilting, and did I mention the colors?  Oh my, I LOVE this quilt! Carol I’m giving you a blue ribbon!  You can see more of this quilt on my Flickr group.  Just click on the link on the bottom right column!

And last for today, but NOT least is Monica, our little Happy Zombie!  She’s the one who made Moda yellow dottie all the rage.  The one who made me buy dots and add them to my web site.  The one I said in 2008 was the most upcoming designer.  The one who proved me right!  She’s amazing!   Just look at this quilt! Again I’m asking myself, why didn’t I think of that?

If you’d like to make the original “A Tisket A Tasket”, with almost all the same fabrics I used, you can buy it here from Shabby Fabrics! You’ll also find a kit for “Rabbits Prefer Chocolate” that is so close to the original I can hardly tell them apart!  Don’t you love this world we call quilting?

And there you have it for today.  I’ll be back tomorrow with a new block for Snowbound!

Hugs,

Anne
