Kansas City Quilt Market
I’m home and it feels so good. Kansas City was a wonderful host but there’s no place like home. We spent 6 days in the Kansas City Convention Center in downtown Kansas City and I feel like I only know a teeny bit! It’s huge and goes on for several blocks. The downtown area is surrounded by tall buildings with many styles of architecture. Of course the old buildings are always my favorite. Sample Spree at any quilt market is a shopping frenzy. People line up hours in advance to get in. This was only the start of the line and it went on forever! Quilter’s can shop like no…

Henrietta’s Big Party!
Can you believe this is the final block for Henrietta Whiskers? Henrietta’s excited and a little bit nervous too. It’s not everyday that a little squirrel gets to meet so many people! I don’t think either of us ever imagined she would be so popular. I’m giving you block nine and the final quilt a day in advance! If you’re spending this holiday weekend sewing, you might have time to finish the quilt and have it ready to hang for Fall! Henrietta Whiskers Block Nine Henrietta’s busy catching stars and Sophie’s helping! And now that you’re finishing up your quilt (you are finishing aren’t you?) you’re probably wondering what I’ve…

How many people does it take to make a quilt?
In the case of Raining Cats & Dogs it took 13 people to finally get the pattern ready to ship! I’m sending BIG hugs and a thank you to everyone who helped me with this quilt: To my husband who’s spent days listening to me go on and on about how it might never get done, to Lissa at Moda who worked miracles in getting me fabric, to Lisa who spent hours helping me with all the graphics, to Anne, Dee, Tina, Sandy, Melissa, and Pauline who helped with the sewing, applique and embroidery in record time, to Lynne who worked wonders with her fabulous quilting, to Florence who’s spent…

Just a few squirrely friends
We all have a few squirrely friends don’t we? Ha! Right now all my friends are wondering if I consider them squirrely. The dictionary defines squirrely (yes it’s slang) as being eccentric, flighty and maybe a bit odd. Think about this…Henrietta doesn’t see a thing wrong with being squirrely. Most of her friends are squirrely and so this month I’m giving a new meaning to the word! squir-rel-y: -adjective, fun loving and full of joy. Able to leap tall pumpkins in a single bound. The perfect friend. Block Six: Henrietta’s Squirrely Friends We’re 2/3rds through the quilt with this block not counting the border…have you been keeping up? …

Spring Quilt Market 2011
Oh my goodness, what a whirlwind the last week has been. I met so many wonderful people and saw so many beautiful quilts. I’m in awe of it all! Hugs, hugs, and more hugs; I think that’s what quilt market is about! Salt Lake City I miss you already, but I have to say it feels good to be home. The greeting committee that met me at the front door today made sure I was covered in wet sloppy kisses in no time at all. I got a hug and a kiss from my husband too, but there’s nothing like dog kisses mixed with a little cat fur! Speaking of…

One week and counting!
It’s crazy right now! 1 week and counting before quilt market and everyone I know is scrambling to get things done. I leave for Salt Lake City on Tuesday! It’s exciting to think of so many new things under one roof! The last time we attended market in Salt Lake, the city welcomed us with open arms. Salt Lake we love you! If you saw my newsletter you heard that my newest block of the month isn’t quite ready. Think about this…some of the fabric for Raining Cats and Dogs just arrived on Saturday! That’s right, I’ve been waiting and waiting for it to get here and the quilt blocks…
