• Hexagons

I was lucky enough to have my grand-daughter Alyssa here for a few hours last week, and the two of us made all these hexies using some of the fabrics I’m using for The Splendid Sampler blocks.  We had such great fun, we laughed and giggled the whole time. Alyssa was able to cut hundreds of these hexagons using the Sizzix Big Shot machine and the hexagon die I bought.  It was the first time I’ve tried it, so we watched a YouTube video first and then she started cutting. In very little time, she had a charm pack cut into hexagons.  Then I taught her how to prepare them using hexagon…

  • Moda Blog Hop Winner

Are you having fun on the blog hop?  Did you see Camille’s “Farmer’s Wife” quilt on her post?  Oh my, that is a beautiful quilt!  To think that she’s made something for herself, makes me want to jump right in and join the Moda friendship group.  It’s a great way to keep up our skills and learn new ones.  I’ve never make a circle block like Zen Chic and I’m really tempted to try.   Of course, I’m the one always running from project to project trying to get everything done.  Too many deadlines and not enough time. On to picking a winner… The Random Number Generator has picked #267…

  • Weekend Projects

Do you have projects planned for this weekend?  Seems like I’ve been waiting for a “free” weekend and now that it’s here I’m in heaven.  I have so many projects I’ve wanted to get started on so I plan on sewing all weekend long.  Speaking of sewing, it’s a great weekend to try a Scrappy Plate quilt block if you haven’t started yet.  Once you make one, you’ll see how easy it is!  Just go for it! I’ve been working on the applique for my Scrappy Plate quilt, taking pictures as I go along so I can hopefully give you some tips next month.  I don’t know which part I…

  • Love those weekends

I had a great weekend, how about you?  Did you get some time to yourself to do a few of those things on your list?  Have you started Christmas shopping yet? I’ve been neglecting my house for two months while I’ve worked on new patterns, so this weekend it got some well needed TLC.  Who knew cleaning up and putting things away could feel so good? I bought these wire baskets at Garnet Hill and I’m using them to store my wools.  I like to see everything I have so these baskets are perfect!   See the pastel wool bundles in the picture below?  I bought those bundles at Holly Hill…

  • Primitive? Me?

I just received my second issue of Primitive Quilts.    Have you seen this new magazine yet?  It’s put together by a group of really creative ladies and I do mean creative.  It’s so well done I find that I’m enjoying the magazine a lot.  I signed up for a 2 year subscription! If you border between “Prim” and traditional style you’ll enjoy this new magazine.  To tell the truth I think there’s room for a bit of prim in a shabby chic home. The last few quilt markets I’ve found myself in the booths selling wool and Valdani Pearl Cotton.  I’ve always been a fan of wool and well that…
