Living Quilt Market Vicariously
It’s quilt market weekend and I’m living it vicariously through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You can too, if you put in the hashtags, #quiltmarket or #showmethemoda in one of your apps. Here’s a picture I found on Twitter just a bit ago. It’s 2 of my friends, Kimberly at Fat Quarter Shop and Doug Leko from Antler Designs. Love these two so much! If I were there, they’d be getting a big hug. Or, how about this one I found on Facebook saying Moda won 1st place for multiple booths? 1st place, isn’t that great? See that pretty lady at the bottom of the picture? That’s Holly, and she’s usually…

Kansas City Quilt Market
I’m home and it feels so good. Kansas City was a wonderful host but there’s no place like home. We spent 6 days in the Kansas City Convention Center in downtown Kansas City and I feel like I only know a teeny bit! It’s huge and goes on for several blocks. The downtown area is surrounded by tall buildings with many styles of architecture. Of course the old buildings are always my favorite. Sample Spree at any quilt market is a shopping frenzy. People line up hours in advance to get in. This was only the start of the line and it went on forever! Quilter’s can shop like no…

The Beautiful Ones
I’m immediately enticed by applique. I can spot an applique quilt across a stadium (assuming I have my glasses on and I can find a stadium…haven’t been to many but market must be about the size of one!) I saw this quilt the minute I walked in the door…can’t believe I didn’t get a full photo! I think I was too excited about the applique! The flowers were cross-stitched by hand… …and just look at the quilting! Right next to this beauty was this one with the backing painted to match the front… …and the quilting was amazing! Of course this was my favorite because of the subject…enlarge this…

Raised in the Country
I wasn’t raised in the country, but I sure wish I had been. Something about the early morning fresh air, the sound of chickens and of course those wonderful Country Fairs! That was the theme this market at the Moda booth…Country Fair and what a fair it was! Did you ever win a ribbon at the Country Fair? Moda had lots to share! Come on in, it’s fair time! Get your ticket and you could win a prize! I heard someone won an IPad by spinning that wheel… …and these sock monkeys were pretty darn cute in this adorable Ferris wheel! Dibs on the big monkey in the blue seat!…

Nighty Night in the Bunny Hill Booth
A sea of white and gray that goes forever. Sounds beautiful doesn’t it? Dream away because arrival at the convention center is never a pretty sight. The sea of white…polyester curtains. The sea of gray…steel poles. Then someone throws in some purple carpet. Sometimes I arrive with a plan for the booth but not this time. We had extra help from Pauline and Pam who I met through blogging! They worked so hard to help us figure out what to do. They held quilts as I stood back and gave the thumbs up or down. They went up and down that ladder too many times to count and we were…
