I just found out that Lissa, our great leader has a blog post with a giveaway!    Go there now and sign up for her giveaway.  She doesn’t say what it is, but she is MODA!!!!  Hmmm, maybe I’ll sign up! I’ve been designing with my new fabric line and I don’t have any fabric yet!  […]

Sherri - What a fun post (as always)! I always love seeing the pictures of your sewing room! Hope your weather is nice for sewing…but not so bad that it affects all the food growing up there…we do love our California produce here in the desert!

February 23, 2011 - 3:00 pm

DeAnna - Love your room!

And, yes, I saw “Enough Already!” That poor woman was just overwhelmed with stuff. I’m glad they helped her get her life back, and I was drooling over her new quilting space. All those gorgeous shelves and work stations.

Couldn’t work in a garage here in Texas in the summer, but I guess she lives somewhere where that will work. :)

February 23, 2011 - 4:17 pm

Sandra - Oh I hope not, more expensive fruit up here in
Canada. The weather has been so crazy lately and In Ontario Canada we had so much snow and cold weather and flu. I am on my third bout of flu and the quilting definitely taking a back seat these days. Oh well spring is around the corner I hope. I am anxious to see new fabric and designs.

February 23, 2011 - 4:46 pm

Anna - Oh I love the monitor! The rooms cute too! lol

Nancy C. in Utah - Anne, Your studio looks so wonderful, I have to wipe the drool from my chin with a napkin every time you show pictures of it, LOL. I’m must say I’m not complaining because last July my hubby and I got a nice sewing room all set up for me and I have never had my own sewing space, never. Even when I made all my girls clothes and most of my clothes for work, I sewed in the living room and kitchen. I didn’t get to use my new room last year but this year I’m hoping for a very “Quilty” year. I’m really glad you have such great technology to do your designing on because I love your designs, so keep em coming! Boy, I hope you don’t get a freeze there. I’m lost when I can’t get sweet juicy oranges and lemons here. You have a wonderful evening and give all your furry babies a scratch for me. Hugs…

February 24, 2011 - 3:43 am

Shirley Albertson Owens (sao) - I love your sewing room and ESPECIALLY those pink knobs!

I hope you’all in CA survive the possible snow!

sao in Midlothian, VA (formerly from Orange County, CA where it NEVER SNOWS…:))

February 24, 2011 - 4:53 am

Dorian - Isn’t the weather amazing this year? I live up North of you, between Chico and Redding. They are saying this storm is going to leave snow on the valley floor, which doesn’t happen much anymore. I live up in the mtns, not real far up, but enough to be getting 4 or 5″ from this storm. Enjoy your sewing weekend!

February 24, 2011 - 6:08 am

Judie - Just love your sewing room!!! It looks SO organized – I’m envious and inspired to get downstairs to mine and follow suit!! Hope you don’t get too much snow – we’re expecting rain here in PA – it should get rid of our 6″ of snow that we got a couple of days ago. Happy sewing –
Judie

Sheila - I’m sure your studio is the envy of all who see this post! I really love that monitor. Would you share the model number?
Thanks,
Sheila

February 24, 2011 - 9:20 am

pam - The room is lovely, I feel a little envious each time I see it. The space, the organization, its so clean! And the monitor.. oh so amazing. I have Illustrator, I should really try to use it!

p.s. the weather! what’s up with that?

February 24, 2011 - 8:02 pm

Kari - Did you notice all the neat bunnies that Pottery Barn has for the spring? The catalog just came in my mail today.

February 24, 2011 - 8:11 pm

Tracee - Hi Anne, thanks for that info, your entire setup looks so pretty but professional too – love it! xx

February 25, 2011 - 12:03 am

Brian - I can’t believe there was a show about a quilter and her stash on Peter Walsh. I’ve always said on my blog that I feel like our “shoppe” or any quilt shop is sometimes where hoarding might begin. Oops.

February 25, 2011 - 8:04 am

Bonny - I do believe you have the ultimate quilting studio:) It is simply beautiful!

February 25, 2011 - 9:13 am

More fluff and stuff

I’ll confess, I fell for it.  I believed Sandy Gervais could paint with her toes.  I spent about 3 minutes trying to imagine it and by that time I was at the end of her post.  If you are as gullible as me we could go together and buy the real estate she’s selling!  It’s […]

SuzK - I like your new arrangement-you and Brigette will be able to talk more! Just wondering…do you break up your Peeps and let them get dryer, so they are chewier or do you eat them soft, right from the package?

February 15, 2011 - 5:00 am

Barb - So…do you like facing out into the room more or do you miss your “old” layout?

You have The Most Beautiful & Amazing Studio! It is gorgeous!
I mean…look at the knobs on your drawers – fabulous!!!!! I sure wish I could poke around in that room and discover all the beautiful treasures in there. (and I agree about office/computer equipment – pretty colors would be so nice!)

February 15, 2011 - 5:04 am

Sue - I LOVE your room! I face a wall too and would love to face toward the center of the room. This room is full of inspiration!

February 15, 2011 - 5:15 am

Tracee - Your studio looks beautiful Anne. What is the drawing package you are using? That looks fun!

February 15, 2011 - 5:22 am

Amy - I too like peepes, but I refuse to eat them until Easter. They also have to opened and stale for a few days,Yum.

February 15, 2011 - 5:35 am

Mary Ann - Gorgeous Anne! Thank you so much for pulling together all the posts for us. I enjoy chatting with you in the AM before heading off to PillowTalk.

February 15, 2011 - 7:22 am

Sandy - Love your studio. It looks so organized. Is it usually like that or you just picked it up for the pics. I am so organized with my space that when I go to a class or a retreat I get deemed a bit freakish. LOL! Always out in search of other freaky quilters.

I imagine that this space is where you design. Do you have another space for your quilting?

I also need to ask. What Computer are you using? It looks like a touch screen or is that just the software that is enabling you to ‘draw’ on the monitor? Can you share the details? It just looks very cool. (after being designated freakish, everyone discovers I’m a geek with a strong techie streak)

Thanks for the sneak peek into your space!

February 15, 2011 - 8:15 am

Tina - Love your new space! I don’t like having my back to the room either when I’m on the computer – one time a coworker thought it would be funny to sneak up behind me and scare me, and I threw my neck out of whack. Bad joke. I’m with Sandy too: can you share the computer software that let’s you draw on the monitor?

Happy Belated Valentine’s Day to you and yours.

February 15, 2011 - 8:29 am

Sandi H - Hi,

I would get a thin dowel and slide your ribbons onto it and then put them into the basket. You could thread the dowel through the wire so the ribbons would be displayed nicely.

Very nice redesign of space.

February 15, 2011 - 8:45 am

Diane R. - Every time I see pictures of your quilt studio, I am so envious — it’s so beautiful, but yet very practical and organized. But it doesn’t always look so perfect, does it! Say it isn’t so!

February 15, 2011 - 8:56 am

Andrea - I love your studio, in fact, it’s my inspiration for my own quilting room in my new, yet to be bought house =) Is that the Pottery Barn desk? I am looking at the Bedford series, and also some other higher cutting tables. I can’t wait to find my new space!

February 15, 2011 - 10:55 am

Marcia - OMG You love Peeps Too? I though I was the only person in the whole world that was sucker for peeps. Nice to meet you fellow peepeaholic!

February 15, 2011 - 11:04 am

Loris Mills - You will be jealous to know that I got pink heart Peeps yesterday! They were adorable, delish, and gone fast :-)
Fortunately, Easter is just around the corner!
PS Your studio is wonderful!

February 15, 2011 - 12:52 pm

Martine - What a wonderful studio !
And so tidy ! A dreamland !

Martine – FRANCE

February 15, 2011 - 5:35 pm

Kristy in Ohio - I am loving this whole Pillow Talk deal…but now to you and your gorgeous studio…..YOU know how to sew…..so you could create a printer cover…just like we make our sewing machine covers…you can do it in lovely pink. I will be waiting to see if you do it!! You know you can…you know you can!!!!

February 15, 2011 - 6:23 pm

Nancy C. in Utah - Anne, Your studio always amazes me, it is so beautiful and filled with so many wonderful things. Are you enjoying your new view? I had to laugh about your hubby’s toes. I also pick up things with my toes, have since I was little, LOL. Though I find as I get older it has come in pretty handy, especially when it’s hard for me to bend over! I have to tell you though, my hubby is not really too fond of seeing me use my feet to pick things up, like you, it’s a trait he is doesn’t see as a plus! I don’t understand what the problem is…LOL. Hugs…

February 15, 2011 - 7:25 pm

Janan Doster - Your studio is so beautiful! I love your soft colors and clean, organized work area. I have just finished block#2 for Henrietta the squirrel!! Well almost finished, I have to hand stitch the blanket stitch around my appliques. I normally do needle turn, but I thought this quilt would look “woodsy” if I hand stitched the blanket stitch, and I just got this new 30 weight Aurifil black thread that feels like butter slipping through my fingers!
And today I am fueled by “Valentine chocolate” so I am ready to stitch!
On the Pillow Talk Blog, I noticed there is no one shown for day 17 – any reason, or just error left off?

February 15, 2011 - 7:32 pm

Janan Doster - Your studio is amazing! I love the fresh colors and neat, organized work area! I am just now ready to start hand stitching the blanket stitch on my 2 blocks for Henrietta the squirrel! I have this new 30 weight thread from Aurifil that slips through your hands like butter! And I am fueled by Valentine chocolate and ready to stitch!
I was just wondering on the Pillow Talk Blogging, no one is shown for Feb 17, any reason?

February 16, 2011 - 8:25 am

Marcyne Efraimson - I love your studio. It looks so inviting for creativity.

February 16, 2011 - 9:21 am

Connie - Great room…I am with you, we need prettier printers. I did see that my neighbor got a white HP recently but I love my epson r1800 that will print 12×12 pages. Hmm, maybe they should make skins for them like you can get for your laptop!

KatieQ - Peeps are my absolute favorite. I really love them best when they are a little stale. Unfortunately, they never last long enough to get stale in my house. When I was a nursery school teacher, my co-teacher would buy Peeps and poke a little hole in the package so they would get slightly hard and then bring them in after Easter as a treat for me. That’s what friends are for. I saw the new orange color in the supermarket yesterday. I really liked the blue ones they had for a few years, but haven’t seen them yet.

MoeWest - Your new studio layout looks great and I love the colour scheme – very feminine. Why don’t you jazz up the printer with some decals, or maybe you could modge podge some fabric on it. I think ribbon would be beautiful in that basket.

February 16, 2011 - 7:20 pm

Nancy Brooks - Anne…You are so right about the printers…i have been searching for so long for a nice white printer for my sewing room…also looking for white shredder and flat screen tv..It irks me that the only colors available are black, grey and ugly beige colors…I am quite sure there is a huge market out there for electronics that fit into different decors…I have modeled my sewing room after seeing yours in yellow and white so black and grey are just not doing it…Let us know If you ever find a nice white printer…Loving all the pillow talk!!

February 17, 2011 - 12:08 am

Sandra Montgomery - Hi, my friend recently introduced me to your work when she made one of your quilts, it was beautiful. So I came looking for your blog and was not disappointed. It is lovely. I especially loved the photos of your studio, it just looks so pretty and is still able to be functional. Very inspirational. Thanks.

One big party

So by now you’re getting the idea of Pillow Talk.  It’s a bit like a giant sleepover with quilters! Laurie over at Minick and Simpson has my dream bead.  Did you see it?  Oh if only it were in pink!  Yesterday was  Minick & Simpson day on Moda Pillow Talk and they’re giving away a […]

Melody - Hi Anne,
Happy Valentines day to you, your lovely family and all those adorable pets

February 14, 2011 - 7:46 pm

Nancy C. in Utah - Anne, Just stopped by to wish you a Happy Valentines Day! Hope the nail trimming went well, if not smoothly, LOL. That’s a chore I let the groomer and the vet take care of for me. Hugs…

February 16, 2011 - 7:05 pm

Gwen Windham - Aww… poor Chelsea! My little Sheltie, Mandy, had a toenail emergency yesterday. She somehow cracked her nail and it broke near the base.. was bleeding and very painful. Thankfully, our vet, Dr. Beth, was able to fix her up good as new, and she is feeling like her old self again. :-)

Pets are the BEST, aren’t they!? No one else gives so much love and truly unconditional! :-)

Sue von Nordenflycht - Would love to win the iron because I am looking for a new one. Mine is very old.

Oliso on its way!

Dear Mary in Texas, Oliso emailed to say your iron is on the way! Hugs, Anne P.S.  Your charm pack is also on the way.  Please wait for your Oliso to arrive before you iron it! If your name isn’t Mary and you don’t live in Texas, you can still have this iron!  You’ll just […]

Deb - Anne, your blog posts are so fun! You made me even feel glad that Mary won that wonderful iron instead of me! Well, maybe not quite. But I’m sure she’ll love it. Congratulations, Mary in Texas!

Just a comment about your moving your desk to face outwards instead of facing the wall. I don’t know your wall/room situation, but if it happens you end up moving the desk back to facing the wall (and it’s a blank wall), do what I did and put a mirror on that wall. We needed to install new bathroom mirrors before we showed and sold our home, so we re-purposed three mirrors (each about 4×4) by putting nice frames around them that my husband built. Two are in different bedrooms, and the third is right in front of my desk! It seems like I am facing outwards! I can see everything going on behind me, and I love it! Just an idea!

February 10, 2011 - 8:00 am

Ferne - I’m a mover! I just moved my whole sewing set up around the other day only to move it back again, but now it is clean under everything and everything is in it’s place. Time for a new project!

February 10, 2011 - 8:47 am

Linda - ANNE,YOUR BLOG IS THE BEST!
CONGRATS TO MARY!

February 10, 2011 - 8:59 am

Barb - I agree – your blog is THE BEST!! and your readers are so amazing too! What a great idea about the mirrors! and even if you move everything and then put it back – it’s a great time to clean up stuff. (It’s amazing what I find when I (finally!) move stuff around – even though it has to go back in the same place (sadly, the room is pretty small but I’m grateful for having a little space of my own.)

Congratulations to Mary in Texas! Whoo!Hoo! to you. Let us all know how much you love the iron (but that doesn’t mean we really love to iron)!

February 10, 2011 - 10:05 am

Corinne - Congrats to Mary. Enjoy the iron and the beautiful charm pack

February 10, 2011 - 10:51 am

Mary H. - I am so jazzed!! I keep looking at the announcement to make sure it is really for me! And then I squeal just like the first time. Thank you so much Anne, and Oliso, for this awesome prize.

Deb Strain - Hi Anne! Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your pillow talk and your pillow! I especially liked the items for your husband. As I’ve told you, I am a long-time admirer of yours and your beautiful work. Now I’m an admirer of your blog! Sadly (but true!) my kids just taught me how to leave a comment!
Happy Valentine’s Day,
Always,
Deb

Deb Strain - Hi Anne! Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your pillow and your answers on the Blog Hop! Sadly (but true!) my kids just taught me how to comment…so I’m a little late. I’ve always admired your beautiful work and now I admire your blog too!
Happy Valentine’s Day,

Camille - Congrats to Mary! I’m so jealous, I have had my eye on an Oliso. Do you love yours?

Thanks, but if you saw my house right now you’d feel pretty darn good about yours. Trust me. I can’t believe you remember that. Seems like forever ago, Did you ever figure out that ExpoDisc?

February 11, 2011 - 4:33 am

Brita - Move stuff? Been there, done that. About a zillion times of here, no there, how about over there. Now my DH balks, as does my bod. So now if it seems imperative, I do have to draw little graphs and move furniture before hand. Then it’s a big deal to get it done. But planning ahead really does work. Just not as creative :-)

February 12, 2011 - 2:23 pm

Linda P. - I sure am a mover, in fact my whole family moves furniture and stuff, makes our spouses crazy!! We usually have to do it by ourselves, so we call ourselves The Lone Re-arrangers!
Hope we get to see the new move – your studio was all ready so cute!!
