Quilt Market Photos

Moda takes up a big section of quilt market.  Their space is a large rectangle in the center and the Moda designer’s booths surround the rectangle.  See all the crates in the background?  They are filled with all things Moda!

When market opens the transformation is amazing!

Here’s the Moda family getting ready to greet customers and take orders for all that beautiful Moda fabric!

I didn’t get out of the booth much at market so most of my pictures are of the Moda section. Being surrounded by amazing talent and NICE, NICE people was so much fun!

Our booth was right next to Blackbird Designs, who just happened to win the Best Single Booth award.  Believe me they deserved it!

Barb stayed behind a day to pick up stacks of their new book from the printer, so Alma “constructed” the booth.  She made frames for the wall herself!  Electric screwdriver in hand she worked and worked to build the walls.

Here’s the finished product!

Check out the fireplace mantel, the ladder across the top, and a smaller ladder hanging below with fairy lights.  The crowning touch was the terrarium filled with REAL plants.  Alma planted that herself!!!  And those beautiful quilts!  I wanted to move right in!  It looked like the most welcoming room ever!  Right in the middle of quilt market!

Across from Blackbird was Sweetwater.  It’s the perfect name for their company because being around them is like drinking fresh, sweet water!  Anne and I watched them set up their booth and it was adorable. We kept saying “look at that darling swing, and look at those darling little flower buckets”.  The Moda designers are so creative!  Sweetwater won second place for best single booth!  A round of applause!

Diagonally across from us were Barb and Mary from Me & My Sister!  Not only is their booth adorable, but Barb and Mary are too!   It was the perfect location because we could see and talk to each other during market.  Barb and Mary had the “Industrial Booth” made from the most amazing assortment of metal pipes that screwed together to make the such creative hangers for all their new designs!   Who’d have thought that up?  Such engineering!  I think it was Mary,  no maybe Barb!   Wonder if they had to pay a husband?

Directly across  from us was Polly and Laurie from Minick and Simpson.  Their new fabric line is called “Charlevoix” and it is yummy!  I think I need to be next to them all the time because no only are they fun, but I love their designs! If I had time I’d be making that basket quilt.

I couldn’t see Sandy Klop from American Jane from my booth but I did manage to get a photo.  Her booth is adorable as always.  Love those chickens, and her fabric and quilts are so French and so Sandy!

Deb Strain had a darling booth.  It was just so happy!   She sells her notebooks, notepads, calendars and cards at Sample Spree, and I always buy a few of her notebooks.  I write my ideas and things I have to remember in them throughout the year.  I call them my “lucky” notebooks.

Kate Spain had her first official booth at market.  It was so much fun to see everything she does.  It’s amazing!  If you want some fun be sure and follow her blog.

Now for a surprise!  If you left a comment on yesterday’s post to wish Joanne a happy birthday, you were automatically entered in a  giveaway!  I brought back a bundle of aqua Lily & Will II from market and I’m giving it away to one of you who left a sweet birthday wish!  Surprise from Bunny Hill! I’ll email you if you won!

I’ll be doing another giveaway this week.  Treats from market that might be for you!

Hugs,

Anne

Playing With Fabric!

Finally……………… after much waiting, sample yardage of Lily & Will II arrived at Bunny Hill on Friday!  Lily & Will II!   When I opened the box the first words out of my mouth were “oh my gosh, it’s so beautiful”!  The fabric feels like heaven and the colors are yummy; aqua and butter yellow like only Moda can do!

We’ve cut it up and sent it off for samples to be made!  We move fast when there’s only 4 weeks from start to finish!  Pre-market days mean long hours and lots of work, but sewing with new fabric is something we never tire of!

What is it about new fabric that we all love so much!  There’s nothing like it. I love to spread out the fabrics and just look at them.  I find it hard to make that first cut!  Fabric is what keeps me happy, inspired and really glad I’m a quilter!

As we’re stitching away with the new line, we’re sending off a trunk show for Lily & Will I  to Fabric Depot in Portland!  If you live in that area stop by the store in a few weeks and you’ll see two complete nurseries; one in pink and one in blue.  They’ll have all my quilts and accessories so you can see them up close.

Lily & Will should be shipping to stores any day now and I’m waiting for it to arrive at Bunny Hill too!  I’ve ordered bolts of this cream Cottontail Toile.  I’m redecorating one of our bedrooms in white and cream and this fabric will make the perfect drapes! My husband promised to repaint that bedroom a yummy cream while I’m away at market.  I’m sure he doesn’t remember.  I’ll remind him in a few weeks. He just loves painting bedrooms (don’t I wish).

If you embroider, you’ll love the Lily & Will pre-quilted fabric in cream.  I love it so much I’ve added it to my next fabric lines.  Just place your embroidery pattern and pre-quilted fabric right side up over a light box and trace the design onto the right side of the pre-quilted fabric.  No need for backing; it’s already the perfect weight.  You can see the pattern through the fabric and it’s great! I’ll be using this fabric over and over.

If you can’t see the quilting in the cream sample above, here it is in pink!

Look at these blankies using this pre-quilted fabric!

Oh baby do I see blue waffle cloth on the back of that brown blankie?  You’re going to love the waffle cloth too!

While moms are whiping up some burp cloths, I may whip up some waffle cloth kitchen towels!  Wouldn’t these be pretty in the kitchen? I’m thinking pink and brown for me.

I know I promised pictures of the studio “at work”,  the real thing, up close and personal.  Truth is it’s getting worse every day.  It looks like a tornado went through here and I may not be able to find the camera!  It’s just too embarrassing.  Mooch is absolutely disgusted.  She’s sick of freezer paper templates, scissors and everything else.  Poor kitty.

And I miss not having the time to respond to comments.  I’ll catch up as soon as I can.  Hugs to each and every one of you.

You know you haven’t been posting…

You know you haven’t been posting much when you have to login to get back into your blog!   WordPress is asking me who on earth I am!  It’s me, it’s me WordPress.  I’m still here!

Guess what?  Moda has a new designer!  Welcome Aneela Hoey!   Hop on over to her blog and leave a comment. She has such a cute style! I have a feeling we are going to love her new fabric line!  The announcement came from our own Moda Lissa.  Moda Lissa keeps all of the news from Moda locked up in her head until it’s time to spill the beans. That’s right, everything is inside her pretty head.  Then bit by bit she lets it out.  She’s amazing!

Just look at this ad Lissa put together for Lily & Will in “Quilt’s n More” magazine!  I tell you these two babies are so SPOILED!  They’ve gotten only the best from Moda, and I hear their mother can’t stop smiling!  See that pink plaid as the background?  It’s so cute!  And pink!  Be sure and add some to your stash.  You’ll be seeing it a lot at Bunny Hill and who knows when you’ll need it.

You can meet these beautiful babies personally at a quilt shop near you in just a few weeks.  The bundles of joy (fat quarter bundles, jelly rolls, layer cakes, and charm packs) are in some stores right now, and the yardage is getting ready to ship from the Moda warehouse!  I’ll try and tell you when it ships so we can track the UPS trucks!

Have you visited the Moda Bake Shop lately?  If not, you’re missing a free LILY & WILL project!  It’s designed by a new Moda Bake Shop Chef, Melissa Corey .  Thanks Melissa!  Where did you find that perfect little baby for the center of the quilt?

Snowbound Update:

Snowbound Block Number Nine has been proofed by the best and we still missed something.  Thank you Susan for telling me  I forgot to include the directions for the fringe on Snowbound Block Nine!  For all of you who have yet to do this block (guilty ones please stand up), I used a straight stitch for the scarf fringe and two strands of floss, DMC #754.  Stem stitch would be great too, and I matched my floss to the scarf fabric.  It would be pretty cute if you used different colors of floss for the fringe,  like when you unravel a piece of wool.  Hey, why not use a piece of wool for the scarf?

It’s back to work or I’ll never make it to market in October.  I’ll be back soon I promise!

Bunny for Mila

You know I’m “into” babies these days with my new Fabric line “Lily & Will”  for Moda Fabrics, but I would have NEVER thought of doing something this cute with my fabric until I saw Mila’s blog!

If you haven’t seen the blog called Mila’s Daydreams you are in for a treat.  Mila’s mom is SO creative.    Not only does she have a precious baby, she has such a creative blog!  Mila, this bunny is for you!

Enjoy your visit and hope you smile as much as I did!  Thanks to my friend Sue for sharing  this link with me!
