Spring Quilt Market 2011

Oh my goodness, what a whirlwind the last week has been. I met so many wonderful people and saw so many beautiful quilts.  I’m in awe of it all!  Hugs, hugs, and more hugs;  I think that’s what quilt market is about!  Salt Lake City I miss you already, but I have to say it feels good to be home.  The greeting committee that met me at the front door today made sure I was covered in wet sloppy kisses in no time at all. I got a hug and a kiss from my husband too, but there’s nothing like dog kisses mixed with a little cat fur!

Speaking of dogs and cats, I can finally show you REAL pictures of my newest block of the month Raining Cats and Dogs!  This is the first market I’ve attended without a complete block of the month!  I have to say it felt really strange.  I wanted so much to show it off, but we do what we have to do.  Fabric arrived very late and for some of the fabrics is was a miracle they arrived at all!   I brought along as much of the quilt as I could to quilt market and gave out promises that the end result would be worth the wait.

Take a close-up look at these blocks and picture them quilted with embellishments added.  Picture little button door knobs and button trimmed collars!  I’m loving working on this quilt and I hope you will too!

Plaids, stripes and dots are perfect for cats and dogs!  If I counted right there are 21 cats and dogs on the quilt and a few umbrellas too…

…along with a kitty hotel…

…and of course I didn’t leave out the dogs!  They have a four star hotel complete with spa and gym!

You’ll see kittens playing in the vines…

…and playing in the catnip too!

I’ll be putting this quilt together this week and I’ll show you more photos as I do.  Then it’s off to the quilter for Raining Cats and Dogs and before you know it the real quilt will be ready!  A few wonderful quilt shops are starting to show the virtual picture and are taking sign-ups.  Don’t miss out because the fabric is limited.   You’ll see the quilt on my blog as I work along.  I hope you love what’s to come!

I’ve missed you all!  I’ll be back to my regular blogging this week and I’ll tell you all about market.  I have lots of photos to share with you!  I can’t wait!

Hugs,

Anne

Oh Those Bunny Hill Pets

Oh what I do to my pets.  Life in the studio is fun every day thanks to them!

Chelsea will do or try just about anything…

She’ll even stand on the dreaded scale… no treats when she’s on this!

Or sit in a bassinet!

She picks many of the winners on my blog posts.  She willing does this over…

and over….

and over!

Bitsy will dress for special occasions.  She’s not crazy about it, but she’ll do it if it’s her birthday…

…and I promise a little treat.

Bitsy has that famous button on her back that I love so much!

She’s so, so sweet!

And Mooch arrived in my life starving and very skinny.

But as time passed…

She grew and grew…

Chelsea helped fatten her up by showing her all the tricks…

Hummm…thanks Chelsea!

And now the three of them are inseparable.   They are always together.  Always!

Mooch is waiting for Santa to arrive!

While the children Bitsy is tucked all snug in her bed!

It’s almost Christmas and they know it!

Pretty smart don’t you think?

Hugs,

Anne

Hello September!

It’s September 5th and if you read my newsletter today you know that we have 2 winners in the “I Love My Pet” contest!  What an exciting end to a wonderful month!

Congratulations Franklin & Terry!

Terry give Franklin a hug.  He won you a great first prize!

Then, drum roll please….

We also gave out a second prize!

Chelsea loves kids and she thought this picture was the cutest ever! So we added a second place prize for Ronnie and his best friend Jack!  Alyssa, Ronnie’s mom, submitted this photo and I think you’ll agree it’s a winner!

Speaking of winners, I had a dickens of a time trying to get Chelsea to pick one.  Truth be told I think she was a bit intimidated by the rabbit.   She was not about to put her paws up on that bunny.   The star of Bunny Hill has a mind of her own!

I even tried Bitsy and Mooch.  No luck at all!

I’m surrounded by pets at Bunny Hill and not one would co-operate!

Life is never dull around here! I had to go to a a random number drawing instead!

And now to bring our pet contest to a close, I have one more photo for you.  Meet “Sis” who belongs to Bernice, a special customer.  She sent us this darling photo in the mail.  Thank you Bernice for taking the time to share Sis with us!  She is adorable!  Love that little pink tongue!

This Pet contest been so much fun!  Thank you again to each and everyone!

And now are you ready for a bit more quilting?

It’s Snowbound Time!

Block Eight of Snowbound is ready to go!

If you’ve been keeping up with the Snowbound blocks, your quilt should be looking something like this:

Don’t jump ahead and look at block number ten! You didn’t really think I’d show it to you did you? You’ll have to wait until October!.  Three more blocks to go! It’s not too late if you haven’t already started!

New Notion!

I love notions and I love to share my favorite ones with you.  I tried this Omnigrid little rotary cutter when I was preparing the templates for my new block of the month.   Smooth templates mean smooth applique!  I fell in love with it.

Any drawing with a straight line, or a slightly curved edge can be cut accurate and smoothly with this little cutter.  It gives you great control and  the blade is pressure sensitive.  It retracts when you lift up the cutter!

Try it when cutting templates for houses, doors, windows, presents, etc. Use a ruler to guide you and cut away!  Then try cutting a curved piece by pressing down on the ruler and turning the template.   You’ll find it here on my web site and I think you’ll love it!

Tiny Town on Sale!

And don’t forget, Tiny Town is on sale this month for 25% off.  This applies to my wholesale customers also!  If you haven’t purchased this quilt, now is the time to do it!

Have a great weekend everyone!  Hope you get a lot of sewing done!

A few more Pets

Saturday is coming up fast and I’ll be announcing the winner of the “I love my pet contest”.  Chelsea is ready, and she’s been practicing choosing a winner.  She’s looked at all the photos, I’ve read her all the emails, and she’s more excited than you can imagine!

Wait!  What’s wrong here!  She can’t be sleeping through all of this can she?  This just can’t be happening.  She has work to do!

Don’t worry;  she’ll wake up for a treat.  She’s very fond of food as you can see.  Our neighbor calls her Super Squirrel and I’m beginning to think the name fits.  She’s about the right size and she’s storing up for winter.  I’ve caught her burying little chew bones lately.

Before I end this parade of photos, I just have to share a few more.  There are hundreds of amazing pictures, and so many wonderful pets!  I never anticipated such a response. I wish I could have featured each and every one.  Hope you enjoy a few more stars!

We’ll be back on Saturday to announce Chelsea’s pick for the winning basket.  She needs her rest!  She’s got a lot of responsibility for such a little dog.

Thank you to each and everyone who submitted photos!
