The Beautiful Ones

I’m immediately enticed by applique.  I can spot an applique quilt across a stadium (assuming I have my glasses on and I can find a stadium…haven’t been to many but market must be about the size of one!)  I saw this quilt the minute I walked in the door…can’t believe I didn’t get a full photo!  I think I was too excited about the applique!

The flowers were cross-stitched by hand…

…and just look at the quilting!

Right next to this beauty was this one with the backing painted to match the front…

…and the quilting was amazing!

Of course this was my favorite because of the subject…enlarge this photo and you’re in for a treat!

I finally thought to take a photo of the information on the quilt…

Then across the way this beauty caught my eye…see the pink?

I walked up for some close-up shots…

…now read the sign! You won’t believe it!

Congratulations to the artists who had a quilt in the special exhibit section!  They were stunning!

Of course every good thing must end…

with the traditional Moda photo…

…and tear down.  It’s so much faster to take a booth down than it is to put it up!

Salt Lake you were so gracious and beautiful!

…thank you for your hospitality!  At the end of it all we were so tired it was good to be on the plane home!

Oh wait!  I forgot to show you another cute little group and do some giveaways!

Coming next post…

Hugs,

Anne

Raised in the Country

I wasn’t raised in the country, but I sure wish I had been.  Something about the early morning fresh air, the sound of chickens and of course those wonderful Country Fairs!  That was the theme this market at the Moda booth…Country Fair and what a fair it was!

Did you ever win a ribbon at the Country Fair?  Moda had lots to share!

Come on in, it’s fair time!  Get your ticket and you could win a prize!

I heard someone won an IPad by spinning that wheel…

…and these sock monkeys were pretty darn cute in this adorable Ferris wheel!

Dibs on the big monkey in the blue seat!

…and of course the jam jars, we can’t forget those…

Moda thought of everything…including a photo booth.  Hop on over to their website and you just might see yourself in pictures!  Click on the blue ticket to see the show! Everyone had a great time with this one!  No one does it like Moda!  Give me an “M” “O” “D” “A”!

…Sandy Klop of American Jane brought the chickens!

Sweetwater came prepared for a fair…they packed a suitcase with their adorable “Hometown” fabric…

…and Bonnie and Camille set up the bed of my dreams in their booth…I have serious aqua bed envy…

…not to mention pillow envy too! These pillows get first place from me!

Basicgrey gets a prize for giving me so many wonderful decorating ideas with their new line of embellishments…

And if the country fair wasn’t enough excitement, look what I found wandering through market!

This little red iron will replace the “other” iron we’ve all been hoarding.  Finally I found a new craft iron for applique!

You’ll find this iron on my website.  I hear they are on backorder now.  Doesn’t surprise me!

It’s sewing with my granddaughters this morning!  Back soon!

Let’s walk around!

Creativity and inspiration are everywhere at Quilt Market.  It’s almost sensory overload!  I always come back so inspired, I love it!

Barb and Mary from Me and My Sister were right next to us and their booth was FILLED with creativity!

Barb said it took 7 yards of fabric to crochet this beautiful headboard for their bed.  And what a genius husband that made the actual bed from pipes!

Barb and Mary played hopscotch on this darling quilt.  Have you ever seen anything so cute?  Yes, Barb and Mary are cute too, but I’m talking about the quilt!

I’ve admired Christina Strutt of Cabbages and Roses fame forever.  She’s written several vintage style decorating books, has shops in the UK and now a new shop in Tokyo!  She was right across from me at market and I was in heaven!

I already own all her books and I came home with a bundle of her new fabric line for Moda.

You’ll be seeing some of this fabric around my house.  I can’t wait to make something from it!

Kate (Christina’s daughter) Cheryl (design director for Moda) and Christina…

Next to Christina was Aneela Hoey with the wonderful little embroideries that I just adore, not to mention her newest fabric!

And Kaari Meng, French General fame!

And the ever so talented Kathy Schmitz..

Painting the floor of her booth!

Do you recognize these darling clothes?

Oliver + S of course!

I hope you’re enjoying the pictures.  I’ll be back with more next post and I’m going to tell you about the “hottest” new item at market!

Have a great weekend!

Anne

Nighty Night in the Bunny Hill Booth

A sea of white and gray that goes forever.  Sounds beautiful doesn’t it?  Dream away because arrival at the convention center is never a pretty sight. The sea of white…polyester curtains.  The sea of gray…steel poles.  Then someone throws in some purple carpet.

Sometimes I arrive with a plan for the booth but not this time.  We had extra help from Pauline and Pam who I met through blogging! They worked so hard to help us figure out what to do.  They held quilts as I stood back and gave the thumbs up or down.  They went up and down that ladder too many times to count and we were thankful to have their help.

Finally we pulled it all together!   I couldn’t have done it without my best friend Anne Bryson.  She’s moving to a beautiful new home tomorrow and yet she still came to market with me.  She’s my friend, my anchor and she sews for me too!  Thank you my sweet friend!  I can’t wait to visit you in your new home!  She took this photo of me in the booth.

I have a new granddaughter due to arrive any day now.  When she comes to visit me she’ll be sleeping in this crib.  I bought it for her, and then borrowed it for market.  Can you imagine my beautiful new granddaughter in this crib?  I can hardly wait!  Enlarge the photos so you can see the fabric!  It’s Puttin’ on the Ritz in blue and gray…

On the other side of the booth is the beautiful headboard my sweet husband spray painted to match the crib…

…and the fabric on the bed is the 54″ decorator weight cotton/linen that comes with Puttin’ on the Ritz!

I shipped the headboard and borrowed a twin bed frame from Moda.  We inflated the air mattress and when we put it down on the frame it poked a large hole in the corner of the mattress. We used the ever faithful duct tape to plug the hole, but every time we’d inflate the bed it would blow the duct tape off.   We spent all of market inflating the bed!  We’d arrive every morning to a flat bed…

It was beautiful when it was inflated…

But then every morning it looked like this…

By the end of market it was even lopsided! Needless to say we left the inflatable bed behind after market!  No sleeping in the Bunny Hill booth!  We had a great time even with a sinking bed!

More pictures to come…

Hugs,

Anne
