Quilter’s Home Magazine Comes to Visit!

Back in March of this year, Quilter’s Home Magazine sent out a photo stylist and photographer to take pictures of my home and studio.  Gregory Case and his wife Elena, work together as a team.  I’ve known them for years so it was a fun photo shoot, and of course their pictures are wonderful!

Pick up the current issue (August/September) of “Quilter’s Home” and you’ll see the fabulous job the editors at Quilter’s Home did.  You’ll find out what my favorite cookie is, AND why I have this Goose Feather Farm sign in my studio, along with other tidbits you might not know about me.

I used the photo shoot to get my husband to complete all the projects I’ve had on my list for the past year.  It’s so great to be able to say “Honey, Quilter’s Home is coming in two weeks, do you think you could work on that list”?  He cleaned the front porch, the back yard, washed windows, touched up wall paint, helped me hang new quilts and even polished my silver pencil holders.  Amazing, that man!

You’ll get a tour of my home and studio. The picture below is our family room.  Chelsea and Bitsy are in one of their favorite spots.  Mine is on the day bed with Chelsea.  I usually relax with my Ipad every evening and read a book or play with the Ipad apps.  Mooch claims the vintage garden planter behind the couch as her favorite spot.  The planter is filled with quilts and I keep an old one on top so washing off cat fur is easy.  (Oh the things we do for our pets!)   Hubby gets the couch.

As for the Bitsy/Huband update:

Husband is doing better.  Some of the redness and swelling is down a bit.  He had his last shot today. He says the shots hurt so much they actually add Novocain to the antibiotic shot!  Oh baby,  I don’t want to ever have those!

His thumb has so many punctures the Dr. said he may have to have some physical therapy.  He’s supposed to be holding it up and moving it, but of course he can’t really move it because of the swelling.   Reminds me of playing finger puppets.

Bitsy went back to the vet today.  She hates a visit to the vet, shakes the whole time and of course looks like I’ve beaten her. She wouldn’t walk, not even when I left the room.  She just stood in the corner and shook.  Her leg looks fine in the x-ray and they are running some blood work to rule out other things.  Our Veterinarian mentioned neurological, spinal, thyroid etc.  I’m leaning toward very smart dog who knows how to make me jump.  Hope I’m right.

I recorded her on my IPhone. She was talking and carrying on like you can’t believe and I played it for the vet.  Oh my gosh that little dog has something to say.  Wish I knew what it was!  We’ll see what the tests tell us.  In the meantime here’s my new motto:

Back soon!

Photo Shoot

Since the photo shoot last week, and the sweet treats that arrived in the mail, my life has been turned upside down.

Quilter’s Home magazine was here to take photos of my house for an upcoming issue. NOT just the studio, but the whole house! They were everywhere and it took hours and hours.  Luckily for me, the photography team were my good friends Gregory and Elena.  They are wonderful to work with!

If you haven’t seen a photo shoot before, it’s amazing to watch. There are cords everywhere, lights all over, multiple tripods, not to mention the photographers doing their staging thing.  Mooch wanted in every photo.  At one point we had to lock her up just to keep her out of the pictures.  It was hysterical.  And then when I thought they couldn’t possibly take anymore pictures, they wanted pictures of me! I was so tired at the end of the day I just fell into bed.  Mooch too!

You’ll be seeing the professional photos in Quilter’s Home so you’ll have to wait to be surprised.  I think it’s going to be in the September issue, but I’m not sure yet. I’ll keep you posted.

While they were photographing I started thinking about how I don’t normally show my corner of the studio.  This is really where I spend most of my time and maybe you need a  peek.   This is my favorite corner.  It’s where I’m surrounded by pets and where I do most of my design work.  Yes, it’s a bit messy, but has to be when I’m working!

I’m always at the computer, with Chelsea on one side, Mooch on the other and see the dog bed on the floor?  That’s where Bitsy sleeps.   Isn’t that the “Snowbound” quilt hanging over the chair?  If you look really close you might get a peek at those treats that I got in the mail. Oh I am so bad!

I’ll be talking about those soon in my next post…

Back soon!

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

I feel like I should be baking shamrock cookies or something exciting like that.  But yesterday this brown truck brought a box of sweets like you’ve never seen!  My heart skipped a beat and I could hardly breathe!  The box is filled with the sweetest of sweets and I’m in heaven.

I know, it’s so bad of me not to show you yet!  I will in a few days I promise, but today I have to spend St. Patrick’s day cleaning.  Tomorrow is photo shoot day at Bunny Hill.   Quilter’s Home magazine is coming!

In order to make up for my lack of sharing, we’re having a St Patrick’s day sale at Bunny Hill.  If you find something on our web site that you’ve been wanting to buy, and it has the color green in it, you’ll get it for 25% off!  25% off anything with green for today only!  Just enter the word green in the coupon section on checkout and the luck of the Irish will be yours.

Do you do anything special for St Patrick’s Day?  Are you Irish?  I’ll be thinking of you today as I’m picking up threads and bitty pieces of fabric that seem to migrate all over the house!  How does that happen?

Maybe I’ll even get a photo of the photo shooters for you tomorrow.  How’s that for a picture?  Back soon to show you the sweets that were delivered yesterday!  Ahhh sweet treats.  I love them!

Hugs,

Anne

Sewing Day!

I’ve had two days of sewing help in the Bunny Hill Studio.  It’s been exciting to see what we can get done when we work together.

The studio has gone from this…

To this…

…in a matter of minutes.  Here’s Nancy sewing together the “Snowbound” quilt.  It’s so cute , I hope you love it!   She finished it early and now it’s over at Ellie’s for the border applique.    I can’t believe I’m showing you this messy photo.  I mean really, the bathroom door is open and we’re ironing in the bathroom!  This is what happens when you add people to a studio!

Meanwhile Robin is sewing together strips of jelly roll fabric…she’s on a roll so to speak!

Robin’s coming back today to sew more strips together!  Soon we may have a quilt!  A real quilt! I have stations set up in my studio so more than one person can cut and sew.  Think about how messy your sewing room gets when you’re working away.  Then triple it and you get the idea of what my studio looks like right about now.   I have to say it’s so much fun!  I love my Bunny Hill helpers!

Next week I’ll show you some photos of it cleaned up. ”Quilter’s Home” magazine is coming for a photo shoot.  I’m not telling them about the iron in the bathroom.  A quilter’s gotta do what a quilter’s gotta do!  We can work anywhere right?

Hugs everyone!  It’s back to work!  I’m going to sew on my pink featherweight today!
