Bunny Hill Meets Holly Hill!

What a weekend I had at Holly Hill Quilt Shoppe in West Linn, Oregon.  I’d move to Portland if I could, just to live near this shop!  When I walked in and saw the Bunny Hill section I couldn’t believe it.  What an incredible display!

And then I walked over to the French General section…

…and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a miniature sleigh and tiny reindeer…

It’s my Night Before Christmas Quilt and tons of fabric!

Upstairs is the most beautiful classroom ever!

The classroom is large with lots of windows.

I could be Snowbound here forever!

…and then the classroom filled up with wonderful people and we had so much fun!

Each teacher had a project and everyone rotated from table to table to make all the projects!

In-between projects there was shopping!

Holly Hill is a quilter’s paradise,  a “must see” if you’re in the Portland area.  Thank you Holly Hill for a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,

Anne

Henrietta Goes Blog Hopping

How would you like to win this Henrietta Squirrel?  You might if you hop on over to Pretty By Hand blog and tell Kristyne which of my patterns is your all time favorite!  She’s not only giving away this squirrel, but some of my Petite Patterns too!

I found Kristyne’s blog a few weeks before market and fell in love with it.   At market we met for the first time and I liked her instantly.  Take a look at our business cards…

Destined to be friends don’t you think?

Now, here’s where I’m going tomorrow!

Holly Hill Quilt Shoppe

There’s a FARM HOUSE inside their shop!  How cute is this?  The shop is decorated to the max for Christmas and if you’re near Portland (West Linn, Oregon) anytime in the future be sure to make this shop a destination.

Their displays are incredible and their classes are events by themselves!

If I just lived a bit closer I’d be there every week!  I’ll take lots of pictures to share with you when I get back.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Anne

It’s A Country Fair!

Today is American Jane Day at the Fair…

Wait until you see Miss Henny Penny!

Lissa Alexander at Moda Fabrics always has creative ideas…she stores them in her head and just pulls them out when she needs one.  Amazing talent don’t you think?  She came up with the idea of the Moda Country Fair Blog Hop and then she thought up all these things for us to do!  Thanks Lissa, you are just so smart!

We’ve been talking about the Moda Country Fair for the last month around the studio and somehow Chelsea got the idea she was invited to the fair.  She’s got these big brown eyes that make it really hard to say no…

So what do you tell a Chihuahua who thinks she’s going to a country fair?  You tell her “OK, OK, you can go”!

There was no stopping her after I said that.  Chelsea wanted to be in on everything.  Everything?  OK Chelsea, Lissa thought up questions for us to answer so if you’re “in” you have to answer them too!

Question #1:   What’s your favorite fair food?

This question is way too easy for Chelsea to answer!

I hope Chelsea doesn’t tell Moda what I was really thinking when I was holding this cupcake pincushion!

Question #2:  What’s your guilty pleasure?

Something no one knows… EVERY market my friend Anne and I load up on HOT TAMALES and CANDY CORN.  We each bring several boxes and we have a sugar party the entire market.   Fall market we eat the orange candy corn and spring market we eat the pastel candy corn.  I’m addicted to these little treats and so is Anne.

…and Chelsea’s guilty pleasure?  You’re not going to believe this but it’s Broccoli with butter!

Question #3:  What’s on your bucket list?

Ha!  Is Lissa kidding?  This was way too easy for Chelsea (click on the picture to enlarge).  I swear this dog is smarter than me!  Why didn’t I think of the pink convertible?  I want one too!

Question #4:  What inspires your work?

You may not know it but Chelsea is part of the approval committee at Bunny Hill.  She likes quilts with bunnies  on them and she’s very vocal about it…she actually wanted me to design a quilt with a Chihuahua wearing bunny ears!  Oh my what am I going to do with a Chihuahua who wants bunny ears?

MY favorite thing to do for inspiration is visit the flea markets…

When I think of a Country Fair I think of a cake walk…remember those?  Since I can’t do a real cake walk,  I did a cupcake pattern so everyone can have a little cake!  You can choose from a cupcake banner or a cupcake pincushion!

And of course when you go to a country fair you’ll probably enter a raffle so let’s have one here.  You don’t have to buy a ticket but you do have to leave a comment on this post.  Here’s what we’re giving away…

3 Jelly Rolls of Puttin’ on the Ritz…a bundle of waffle cloth and satin for baby…

…and 16 wonderful Puttin’ on the Ritz scrap bags!

We’ll be picking 20 raffle prize winners!  TWENTY!!!  I’ll pick with a random number generator (Chelsea can’t be trusted to pick) and announce them on the 14th of September.  Be sure and check back!

I hope you enjoy our Moda blog hop.  Each day will bring you a new designer, more prizes and so many free patterns you’ll be jumping for joy!  Country fairs just don’t get any better than this!

Hop on over to visit Barb and Mary from Me and My Sister Designs tomorrow.  I adore these ladies and I bet you do too!

Oh my how can you not love Bitsy!  Looks like she’ll be going too!   Chelsea, Bitsy and I are off to the fair!  Hope you all have fun!
Hugs,
Anne

Tomorrow is Miss Lily Day!

This box is sitting in middle of my table.  Can you guess what this means?  Miss Lily, my new granddaughter arrives from Germany tomorrow!  Yeah!!!! I want to parade around singing I’m so excited! Because she’s so little she gets the bassinet seat on Lufthansa!  It’s reserved for little ones like her so she can lay down and sleep.  Kind of like flying first class!

It’s the first time I’ll be able to hold her!  She’ll be using her new US passport and I hope Customs welcomes her with open arms and gets her through quickly!  Keep your fingers crossed that she gets a “welcome to the US Miss Lilly”!

Earlier today my friend Anne (who has a little quilt show of her own going) sent me a link to the most amazing quilt.  You HAVE to  see this quilt because it’s amazing!  Truly!  Really!  Amazing!  Take some time to visit Cupcakes ‘n Daisies blog and look at the red & white quilt she designed.  Did I say this quilt is amazing?  Be sure and leave a comment.  Thelma deserves hundreds of them!

I’ve had 3 surprises in the mail this week.  Three of my sweet, sweet blog readers have done a block for Jeanneane!  If you want to know what I’m talking about read this post from August 15th.  And now that I have several blocks in my hand I’ve decided to make this “sew a block for Jeanneane” a little more exciting.  How about a mystery prize and everyone who sends me a 8″ block for Jeanneane will be entered to win.  I’m not sure exactly what the prize will be yet, but you know I do some great giveaways.   Just think, 3 people are entered in this contest already!  Odds are pretty good right now that one of them is going to win, so keep those blocks coming if you want to be entered too!

Have a great weekend everyone!  I’ll be back with some pictures of Lily!

Hugs,

Anne
