A Christmas Without Bears?

I spent the weekend decorating for Christmas like many of you.  My husband drug out all the boxes, stacked them in the center of the garage and asked “are you doing the bears this year?”  ” Think I’ll skip a year” I said.  “Maybe they’re getting a bit old, year after year.”

And then tonight I found these pictures…

“So you’re done now, right?  I can put all these boxes away?”  “Yes, all finished!”, I said.  But that was before I found the photos.

I don’t have the heart to tell him my little friends can’t sit outside in plastic bins.  I don’t know where I’ll put them now that all the decorations are up, but they have to come in and be part of our holiday tradition.   Call me sentimental.  He’s put away all the boxes so I think I’ll just link him to this blog post.  Who can resist these bears?

While I’m working on finding a place for my bears, I found another picture for you!  Would you like to win a few of these tiny little bundles?  Packages of 2  1/2″ x 2  1/2″ squares of Lily & Will II!

Leave me a comment and 12 of you are going to win 3 little bundles each of yellow and aqua Lily & Will II!  Oh the fun you can have with these little squares!  I’ll announce the 12 winners Friday December 3rd!

Have a great week everyone!

Hugs,

Anne

It’s October!

Christmas has arrived at Bunny Hill!  Well, at least “The Night Before Christmas”!  Did you know that this was the poem that changed the way we think of Santa Claus?

“The Night Before Christmas” brought us Santa’s mode of transportation, how he looks and even the names of his reindeer!  Clement Moore originally wrote it for his children!  Imagine having a father who could write poems like this!  And now almost 200 years later it’s still a universal poem that children love to hear! So many variations of this poem have been published over the ages.  Hard to know exactly what the original poem was.  One thing for sure;  Santa’s bag is full of toys and he’s bringing them to good girls and boys!

I’ve used to read this poem to my own children and I know it by heart, probably just like you!  This quilt evolved more than ususal as I designed it.  My drawings changed as new mice were needed, until each mouse found a home in the quilt.  It was fun to watch them come to life sometimes in places I never expected!

There are 8 mice.  Can you find them all? Finished Quilt Size is 52″ x 62″

Featured Fabric:  “La Petite Ecole” by French General & Moda Fabrics

I’ll have a fabric guide available that you can download as a PDF soon.  I’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready!

And of course I can’t forget the new Snowbound block!  Here we are at number 10!  Two more and you’ll be finished!!!

This little snow lady is embellished with a beaded necklace!  And if you’re going to carry a peace sign make sure it’s pink! That little lamb looks like she likes it!  Hopefully your quilt is looking something like this by now.  Just one more row to go!

If you entered my “guess the name of my new block of the month contest” for The Night Before Christmas,  I’ll be announcing the winner late next week.  I’m waiting for patterns to arrive so I can include one in the gift basket!  And remember that 5″ square of pink that threw you off when you were trying to guess?  It was used for faces and hands;  children and Santa!  Oh that was so bad!  That one really threw you all off!  Sorry!

Enjoy the day.  I’ll be back soon!

Happy 4th of July!

Surprise!  It’s July 4th and I’m in the mood to celebrate! Here’s block seven of  “Snowbound” a day early, just in case you have time to sew today in-between barbecues and fireworks!  Just click on “Free” on the top bar of my blog, scroll down the page and you’ll find the pattern!

My “Snowbound” quilt just came back from Lynne my quilter and it’s ready for the pretty red binding.  All of my embellishments were stitched on ahead of time so I could take photos, so Lynne had to quilt “around” them. This wasn’t easy and she went above and beyond for me.   She deserves extra applause!  Can’t wait to show you the finished quilt!  It’s such a happy one!

If you’re not signed up to receive my newsletter, here’s the latest news!  Bunny Hill is having a 25% off sale on my web site,  today through July 7th!  All you need to do is enter the code july sale in the coupon section on check out.  It’s that easy! We only do this sale twice a year so now’s the time to take advantage of it!

Let me know if you try TasteBook that I talked about in the newsletter !   It’s so much fun!  Maybe we can figure out how to share recipes with each other!  Be sure and try that Peach Cobbler recipe.  It’s so good and it’s the season for fresh peaches!  Perfect for the 4th!

I’ll be back with pictures from my trip to England and the Cotswalds.  It’s such a beautiful area!  I fell in love!

Have a wonderful 4th everyone!

Hugs,

Anne

Burr there’s a chill in the air!

It’s May 5th can you believe it?  Are you ready for block five of Snowbound?  To think that once a month these little snowmen take over our lives!  If you’re following along with my free block of the month I think you’ll be glad you did.  The quilt is looking pretty cute!

My snowbound quilt is at the quilter’s, embellishments and all!  My quilter Lynne took pity on me and agreed to quilt around the embellishments.  This is an exception and not the norm, so please don’t do this do your quilter.  Wait to sew on all those buttons until your quilt is quilted.  I don’t want emails coming to me from all the quilters out there!  Promise me won’t you?

If you’re working on my “Snowbound” quilt, start collecting snowmen as soon as the Christmas decorations appear.  I’m going to show you how to decorate for Christmas with this quilt and you’ll want a stash of  snowmen to go with it!  Lots of them!  Fair warning:  You have 7 months!

I love it when I can introduce a new quilt pattern and today is the day!  “Tiny Town” is here!  It’s my newest block of the month!  I had so much fun designing this quilt!  Just think what you can do with this little town!  Make it your own by embroidering your house number, shop names, local schools and even your friend’s houses.  While you’re at it pick out a new car and fill it up with gas!  “Tiny Town” is your town!

There’s so much more to come.  May is going to be a fun, fun month!

Back soon!

Hugs to all you “Snowbound” quilters!

Hugs,

Anne
