Ooh La La!

This fall Bunny Hill has gone to Paris!  Well, not really but some of my newest fabric line, Ooh La La was inspired by my trip to Paris last year.  Ooh La La was designed to coordinate with Puttin’ on the Ritz so if you start with one line you can easily carry over into the next.  This time I’ve added French words, silver spoons (has to be my favorite print ever), a panel with little french houses, silver cups and spoons.  There’s a toile for baby and of course another damask.  The damask is from an 1800′s piece of wallpaper.  I’m amazed that vintage treasures like these are still around!  It gives me a nostalgic feeling and makes me humble just to be able to reproduce such a piece.

Ooh La La!

Here’s the silver spoon print that I doodled…

It’s a tiny print and I’ve thought up something special that we can do together using this print…

of course we’ll have to wait until yardage arrives but it won’t be too long…

Just look at the spoons in pink!    Yes, they also come in blue…

Here’s the baby toile designed from more of my scribbles and doodles…it also comes in gray, pink and blue!

And do you like French words?  I love the French language, just can’t help myself!  I’ve even tucked in the silver spoons among the words…

I’ve designed 2 new special baby quilts using  Ooh La La…the type of quilts that can be handed down from generation to generation.

Sugar and Spice for little girls…

…and Play Days for little boys…

My grandson Kyle Sutton drew the little robots that you see in this quilt!  Aren’t they cute?

And I can’t forget Henrietta…she’s made from the gingham check in Ooh La La

Kim is making up a bunch of Henrietta for us to sell at Sample Spree, but see that pink gingham check one in the photo below? She’s going to be very hard to give up.  These are all coming to Houston with us (and so is Kim!).

Are you still waiting on Mollie Makes?

If you’ve ordered Mollie Makes and you think I’m never sending your magazine, I have good news.  I’ve been told that the magazines should be arriving this week in the US.  I leave for market on Wednesday, so if I can’t get them in the mail before I leave we’ll start shipping as soon as I return next week.  Because you’ve waited so long I’m including a little treat for you.

Also on my agenda right after market are the quilt blocks for Jeaneane.  I’ll be showing a few blocks and I’ll be drawing a winner for the prize… Someone’s going to be very lucky because the number of entries are low so your chances of winning are good.

New patterns are on the website now.  Take a peak!   I’ll be back soon to show you the Pumpkin Pie quilt and some of the wool applique.  Something new I’ve added to my website…fabric guides.  You’ll find free fabric guides for Merry, Merry Snowmen and Pumpkin Pie on my “Free Pattern” page on my website!

Back soon!

It’s A Country Fair!

Today is American Jane Day at the Fair…

Wait until you see Miss Henny Penny!

Lissa Alexander at Moda Fabrics always has creative ideas…she stores them in her head and just pulls them out when she needs one.  Amazing talent don’t you think?  She came up with the idea of the Moda Country Fair Blog Hop and then she thought up all these things for us to do!  Thanks Lissa, you are just so smart!

We’ve been talking about the Moda Country Fair for the last month around the studio and somehow Chelsea got the idea she was invited to the fair.  She’s got these big brown eyes that make it really hard to say no…

So what do you tell a Chihuahua who thinks she’s going to a country fair?  You tell her “OK, OK, you can go”!

There was no stopping her after I said that.  Chelsea wanted to be in on everything.  Everything?  OK Chelsea, Lissa thought up questions for us to answer so if you’re “in” you have to answer them too!

Question #1:   What’s your favorite fair food?

This question is way too easy for Chelsea to answer!

I hope Chelsea doesn’t tell Moda what I was really thinking when I was holding this cupcake pincushion!

Question #2:  What’s your guilty pleasure?

Something no one knows… EVERY market my friend Anne and I load up on HOT TAMALES and CANDY CORN.  We each bring several boxes and we have a sugar party the entire market.   Fall market we eat the orange candy corn and spring market we eat the pastel candy corn.  I’m addicted to these little treats and so is Anne.

…and Chelsea’s guilty pleasure?  You’re not going to believe this but it’s Broccoli with butter!

Question #3:  What’s on your bucket list?

Ha!  Is Lissa kidding?  This was way too easy for Chelsea (click on the picture to enlarge).  I swear this dog is smarter than me!  Why didn’t I think of the pink convertible?  I want one too!

Question #4:  What inspires your work?

You may not know it but Chelsea is part of the approval committee at Bunny Hill.  She likes quilts with bunnies  on them and she’s very vocal about it…she actually wanted me to design a quilt with a Chihuahua wearing bunny ears!  Oh my what am I going to do with a Chihuahua who wants bunny ears?

MY favorite thing to do for inspiration is visit the flea markets…

When I think of a Country Fair I think of a cake walk…remember those?  Since I can’t do a real cake walk,  I did a cupcake pattern so everyone can have a little cake!  You can choose from a cupcake banner or a cupcake pincushion!

And of course when you go to a country fair you’ll probably enter a raffle so let’s have one here.  You don’t have to buy a ticket but you do have to leave a comment on this post.  Here’s what we’re giving away…

3 Jelly Rolls of Puttin’ on the Ritz…a bundle of waffle cloth and satin for baby…

…and 16 wonderful Puttin’ on the Ritz scrap bags!

We’ll be picking 20 raffle prize winners!  TWENTY!!!  I’ll pick with a random number generator (Chelsea can’t be trusted to pick) and announce them on the 14th of September.  Be sure and check back!

I hope you enjoy our Moda blog hop.  Each day will bring you a new designer, more prizes and so many free patterns you’ll be jumping for joy!  Country fairs just don’t get any better than this!

Hop on over to visit Barb and Mary from Me and My Sister Designs tomorrow.  I adore these ladies and I bet you do too!

We’ve Been Making Bundles!

We’ve spent the week making little fabric bundles of Lily & Will.  I’m getting ready for new fabric to arrive and some just has to go because I’m running out of room!  Perfect little stash builders…can I tempt you?

Oh my these are hard to part with!  Something about a “bundle” that makes me so happy!  You’ll find these little bundles here on my website.  I’ve got a basket filled with these just waiting to leave the studio!

I’ve also put some quilts on my website to sell…something I’ve never done before.  NO, they’re not my applique block of the months… I’m saving those for I’d be in trouble with my family!  These are sample quilts from some of my Bunny Hill Patterns.  They are in perfect condition and need new homes.  I’ve only listed a few so far but I’ll be adding more as time permits.  Be sure and check back because my closet is bulging with quilts and samples!  You can pick these up for about the price of quilting.  Good for you and good for me.

And once the bundles all leave I’m left with stacks of “Puttin on the Ritz”…

Dang, can’t part with it yet…sorry, but it’s coming soon to a quilt store near you!

Hugs,

Anne

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday everyone!   I had a great weekend and I hope you did too.  I spent the weekend coloring and it was so much fun!  I bought these markers awhile ago and this is the first time I’ve used them.  They provide a sea of smooth color for any design…

…I used them to color in samples for my new Spring fabric line.  It was exciting to see the new fabric come to life on paper.   I took a few of my new prints and cut them into applique designs to make sure they worked in a bunny body, a flower, stems etc. and now  I can’t wait to play around with this fabric.  It takes almost a year from start to finish so it will be awhile before you can buy this fabric but in the meantime I’ll be dreaming up new patterns to make with them!

Some excitement at Bunny Hill…I have a new assistant named Kim!  I think you’ll love her as much as I do because she is going to free me up for more blogging, help me with new projects and lots of fun things.   I’ve been without an assistant for the past 4 months so having Kim to help me is a dream come true!  Welcome Kim!

I took some time this weekend to visit my Henrietta Flickr group.  If you haven’t visited in awhile you are in for some wonderful surprises!  It will inspire you to start this quilt if you haven’t already.  There are so many creative quilters in this group from all over the world.  I just have to share Melody’s version with you…

I wanted to start making another Henrietta when I saw her out of Lily & Will!  Can you believe it?  Melody added the opposite color on the color wheel (orange) and it’s darling!  Just think, you can use Lily & Will for baby’s room and then make that baby an heirloom quilt to keep forever using the same fabrics.  Wouldn’t you love to pull this out when you’re say 30 and say “these are the fabrics from my room when I was a baby”?  Can you imagine?  Melody you are so creative and you just made my day!  Congratulations on such a darling quilt!  Head on over to check out the group and if you’re a member of Flickr leave a comment or two.  It’s really fun!

I’m off to take Chelsea for her morning walk…have a great day everyone!

Hugs,

Anne
