Building Blocks in Pink and Blue

Did you know that Mooch’s favorite birds were the inspiration for the pink version of “Building Blocks”?

She’s one smart cat…

…it was her idea to put birds on this quilt. She’s a bird watcher extraordinaire and a genius when she wakes up from a nap. She may look sleepy eyed but she’s been dreaming and  I make sure I pay attention.  You never know what she’ll dream up next.

She’s not crazy about trucks so, for the boy’s version of “Building Blocks” I was on my own.  My husband once owned a old blue truck and it became the inspiration for the boy’s version of “Building Blocks”.

See easy this quilt is to make?

Enlarge the photo above and you’ll see the word fabric from “Puttin’ on the Ritz”…sweet little sayings to welcome baby!

Building blocks is one of my new Bunny Hill Baby patterns that I hope you’ll like!  I designed it for Jelly Rolls and you can make it in a weekend!

Here’s the fabric requirements if you want to get started.  Use your favorite jelly roll and mix up all the fabrics when you stitch up the blocks.  It’s part of the fun!

Mooch will be back to introduce you to another new pattern called “Night at the Ritz”.  I think she’s been hanging around the studio too much!  She’s got her paws into everything.

Hugs,

Anne

Spring Quilt Market 2011

Oh my goodness, what a whirlwind the last week has been. I met so many wonderful people and saw so many beautiful quilts.  I’m in awe of it all!  Hugs, hugs, and more hugs;  I think that’s what quilt market is about!  Salt Lake City I miss you already, but I have to say it feels good to be home.  The greeting committee that met me at the front door today made sure I was covered in wet sloppy kisses in no time at all. I got a hug and a kiss from my husband too, but there’s nothing like dog kisses mixed with a little cat fur!

Speaking of dogs and cats, I can finally show you REAL pictures of my newest block of the month Raining Cats and Dogs!  This is the first market I’ve attended without a complete block of the month!  I have to say it felt really strange.  I wanted so much to show it off, but we do what we have to do.  Fabric arrived very late and for some of the fabrics is was a miracle they arrived at all!   I brought along as much of the quilt as I could to quilt market and gave out promises that the end result would be worth the wait.

Take a close-up look at these blocks and picture them quilted with embellishments added.  Picture little button door knobs and button trimmed collars!  I’m loving working on this quilt and I hope you will too!

Plaids, stripes and dots are perfect for cats and dogs!  If I counted right there are 21 cats and dogs on the quilt and a few umbrellas too…

…along with a kitty hotel…

…and of course I didn’t leave out the dogs!  They have a four star hotel complete with spa and gym!

You’ll see kittens playing in the vines…

…and playing in the catnip too!

I’ll be putting this quilt together this week and I’ll show you more photos as I do.  Then it’s off to the quilter for Raining Cats and Dogs and before you know it the real quilt will be ready!  A few wonderful quilt shops are starting to show the virtual picture and are taking sign-ups.  Don’t miss out because the fabric is limited.   You’ll see the quilt on my blog as I work along.  I hope you love what’s to come!

I’ve missed you all!  I’ll be back to my regular blogging this week and I’ll tell you all about market.  I have lots of photos to share with you!  I can’t wait!

Hugs,

Golden Quilter Awards

Oh my goodness!  I’ve been working so hard the past week that I haven’t gotten around to my favorite blogs so it came as a complete surprise this morning when I heard that I had been nominated for Best Designer for the Golden Quilter Awards 2011!  Just to be nominated it such an honor!

Guess who decides the winners?  You do!  Soooooo if you like Bunny Hill please hurry over and leave a comment on this post at Sew Cal Gal and a little vote for me!  You can also vote for 9 other categories and at the same time be automatically entered to win some fabulous prizes!  Imagine winning a prize from Kimberly at The Fat Quarter Shop!  Oh baby I’d love that one!

I know I haven’t been posting much lately but I’m keeping a list of all the things I want to tell you!  I’m working on new designs, a new fabric line, some decorating in my house, and so much more!  I’ll get back to regular posting as soon as I can.  Right now my time is consumed by computer work!  It’s always good to know I’m not alone.  Moda put this photo on their website this week and we all had a good laugh.  Enlarge the photo and you’ll see why we laughed!

There’s something to be learned from this;  when Moda does a group photo never stand in the back row.  Just look at the size of those “hats”!  And check out Barb and Mary’s blog…(March 16th post)…they are SO funny!

My fabric is milled in Japan and need I say thinking about fabric with all that is happening in Japan seems so insignificant.  I’ve been prepared to work without fabric but yesterday I heard from Moda that my fabric actually left Japan and is on the way to Moda!  I should have yardage by late next week to actually sew with! Puttin’ on the Ritz is coming to Bunny Hill!

It’s been pouring rain here today and we’ve got a little break right now.  Chelsea is waiting for her morning walk…she doesn’t understand “no walk today” language.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hugs,

Anne
