Bitsy Says Thank You!

Bitsy says thank you to all of you who may have come to my blog sometime during the past few weeks to see if I’ve posted something new.  Thank you for for being so patient when you saw her photo over and over.  Thank you for understanding how busy her mom is, and how she just nevvvvvver lets her blog go this long unless she’s tethered to the computer.  And well, thank you for looking at Bitsy and not saying “oh it’s still that darn dog”.  If you did she forgives you.  She’s been suffering from attention deprivation too.

Sweet relief is on the way!  This week I can play just a bit and maybe you’ll even hear a few tweets!  I just  finished the last sample for market!  She jumped right off  The Night Before Christmas quilt.

So if you like this quilt…

You just might like my newest pincushion!

Bitty Mouse!

She’s ready to hold your pins, or forget the pincushion base and place her in your Christmas tree.  She’ll be so happy!  Why she could even peek out of a stocking or sit on your mantle.  And best of all?  She’s easy to make!  The pattern will be for sale on my web site Friday!

For all of you who entered my contest oh so long ago, if you guessed the name of my quilt I’ll be picking a winner this week!  Finally!  One of you is going to win a fun prize!  Yeahhhhh!! It’s about time don’t you think?

You’ll also get sneak peeks at new fabric and patterns.  All of this is happening because I’m in such a great mood!  I leave for market a week from Wednesday!

Hugs to each and every one of you!

Anne

Snowbound Block Eight!

Block eight is here!   Another month has gone by and now Mr. August is arriving in a wagon.  As you can see my “Snowbound” is quilted and ready for Christmas!  Yours will be too in no time at all! I hope you’ve been working on your Irish Chain blocks and assembling your quilt by rows so you can see it coming together!

Tell me where the year has gone?  Did you notice it flying by?  Only four more snowbound blocks left, can you believe it?

We’ll be decorating for Christmas before you know it!

If you received my newsletter this morning you know it’s “I Love My Pet” month at Bunny Hill!  Email or send me a picture of your pet and you’ll be entered in the drawing to win this basket full of goodies!  Email your photos to info@bunnyhilldesigns.com .

Here at Bunny Hill we are surrounded by pets as most of you know!

Bitsy is back to normal, her stitches are healing fine, and she even wants to play.  But she still won’t walk.  It’s not that she can’t walk, she can walk just fine, she’s just refusing to.

Can you believe it?  Just look at this face!

Or this one with her ears up.

Can this be the face of a spoiled smart dog?

She has a stub of a tail that she wags at just the right moment.  She makes sure you’re looking first.

Chelsea’s getting worried that you might forget how “cute” she is with all this attention going to Bitsy.  She wanted a few of her pictures in the blog post

And Mooch?  She’s not worried a bit.  After all, she’s a cat!

So love your pet and show me how cute they are!  You might see them on my blog!  How fun is that?

And now for the next hint you’ve been waiting for…

Hints to help you guess my Fall Market Block of the month theme!

1.   Christmas with some pieced blocks

2.  A little bit of snow.  White snow NOT pink snow.

Have a great day everyone!

Back soon,

Hugs,

Anne

If there’s a pink one I’ll find it!

Look what I found on Shabby Fabrics blog!  Jennifer has the same pink sewing machine I do!

I know Jennifer loves pink.  I just didn’t know she was as crazy about it as I am!  Humm, wonder if she has a pink coffee maker?  The best thing is Jennifer is having a give away too!  Leave a comment and you could win!

You know about my pink fetish and now you know about Jennifer’s too.  Here’s something you might not know about!  The shank from the Pfaff sewing machines will also fit most featherweight machines. So why would you want a Pfaff shank on your featherweight?  Because then you can use most of the Pfaff snap on feet, including the 1/4″ foot and open toe foot!

Take your featherweight to the nearest Pfaff dealer and try the shank on your machine.  I love sewing with the Pfaff 1/4″ foot. (If you want the 1/4″ foot with the drop down guide, make sure you try it first on your machine.  It may drag a bit on the bottom depending on your machine.)

Today at Bunny Hill I’m going to be sewing 6 pieced blocks for my new Christmas Block of the Month, on my pink featherweight.   Was that a hint?  6 pieced blocks & Christmas Block of the Month?

Guess the theme of my new block of the month and you’ll be automatically entered into my drawing!  That’s right, what’s the theme of my new Christmas Block of the Month and your name goes into the basket for the drawing.

Hugs,

Anne

Alyssa’s New Pincushion

Last week I started teaching my youngest grand-daughter Alyssa to embroider.  We spent a couple of hours together with me sitting right next to her.  She had my full attention and loved it!  This weekend she came over to finish her first project.

There’s a lot to embroidery you probably don’t even think about!  Alyssa’s learned the quilter’s knot, how to thread a needle, which end of the thread to put through the needle, how to put the embroidery in a hoop and how to end her embroidery when she runs out of thread.  These are big steps for an 8 year old. She’s pretty proud of her results!

We’ve been working on the stem stitch. Getting those stitches small and even is not easy and it’s something that comes with practice.  It takes awhile to learn it all!  I drew 3 hearts for practice.  She picked out the floss colors and when she was done we decided to turn it into a pincushion!  The backing is the little tiny dog bone print from ”Pampered Pooch” by Moda.  For the filling we used ground walnut shells.   She sewed the front and the backing together on the machine.

Eight is the perfect age to begin teaching children to sew, and embroidery is quick and pretty easy.  They can have a finished project in no time at all.  Once you have the first lesson completed, it’s important to have a second lesson within a week.  You don’t want them to forget everything they’ve learned.

Alyssa’s been looking through all of my books for something to trace for her second project.   She found one she likes in one of my “Dover” copyright free books.   Much to my surprise it’s a “rat” in a little tea pot.  We’ll enlarge it on the copier and make it the perfect size.  Perfect size for what I’m not sure.  I wonder if she’ll  like rats in tea pots when she’s older!    Children really do  know what they like and it’s important to let them lead the way.  :>)  Bet you can’t wait to see this one!

Pick up the latest issue of “Quilter’s Home” magazine and you can see the sewing room I’ve created for my grand-daughters!

Happy embroidery day everyone!

Hugs,

Anne
