And The House Became a Home

Sometimes I’m inspired by unexpected things.  I’ve been watching house renovation shows like “Love It Or List It” and “The Property Brothers” on HGTV.  They got me thinking about what makes a house a home, nesting, and how much love we all put into our homes. PAtricia G Hayes - HI Anne, Good for you, oh to be so talented as you. However I will enjoy the fruits of your labors.

I, too, sit and do handwork while watching the very same shows as you. In fact grandson just called and told me how he wants to learn to do what those people do and I suggested to him that he watch those shows also. haha apropos

Do you get kumquats out there also. We had a kumquat festival here in FL a few months ago, and I now have several peat pots growing with the seeds. Hopeful I will have some someday. I also love calamondins, neither of which I can get locally only the kums once a year.

How wonderful that you have the other farms so close by.

Happy Memorial Day PGH

Mary T Salmon - Anne:
I am floating on air. Thank you SO MUCH for the wonderful bag of scraps and FQs. I will use them in my House/Home quilt when I get the pattern. It will be a gift for my daughter and husband when they buy their first home.
Thanks again!

Mary

Introducing Simple Pleasures

When life gets crazy I turn to applique.   Give me fabric, thread, and a needle and I can relax.   My newest block of the month, “Simple Pleasures” is 12 months of handwork that’s portable and easy to stitch.  Once you’ve prepared a block, it’s perfect to take to along to stitch anywhere you […]

DeAnna Dodson - Awww, isn’t that sweet? I love it.

And, yes, the lamb is just darling. I wish you’d design a whole lamb quilt! :D

Of course, I’m still plugging away on Baltimore Bunnies, but I’ve finished all the blocks and one border, so I’m getting there. Whew!

May 23, 2014 - 9:29 pm

RuthB - Love it Anne! The fabrics are awesome and its great that money is going to Libby Lehman.

May 24, 2014 - 7:40 am

mimi'sdarlins - I love this new pattern, Anne! All of the Moda ‘Cause’ collections are so beautiful, too. Your applique patterns have a quietness about them that I find appealing. I have several applique quilts in progress, many of them yours…it’s so nice to pick up a block and stitch as you mentioned.

May 24, 2014 - 4:10 pm

Jean - I just love the new pattern!!!! The Community fabric is gorgeous and I so appreciate Moda doing that for LIbbby!

May 25, 2014 - 6:49 am

Mary T Salmon - Anne!
How could you post this now?? I have to wait until September for the pattern and October for the fabrics? How could you be so cruel! :)
Can’t I be a tester or something? I love lambs (my nick name) and the entire pattern is very, very cool. I will do anything for Libby. I am so glad this is taking place.
Love,
Mary

I Believe

I’ve believed in Santa, Snowmen and fairy tales since my earliest memories.  Where would the world be without Frosty the Snowman or stories of Santa at the North Pole?  Children believe, and are more than willing to share that innocence with us.  It’s a wonderful, whimsical feeling that makes us smile and feel young again. Barb - This quilt is just too wonderful! I think you outdo yourself every time!! Between your wonderful quilt design and Nubin Jensen’s quilting, I think you definitely have a Blue Ribbon winner here!!

I think I may have to attempt this amazingly charming quilt.

Mary on Lake Pulaski - This is just an amazing and heartwarming quilt Anne! Will the people at market get to view it in person! I’ll be keeping an eye out for a kit! Winter Wonderland is the BEST Christmas fabric in a long time!

DeAnna Dodson - Oh, that’s darling. And, yes, the quilting is just right. So cute!

May 1, 2014 - 1:35 pm

linda - This reminds me of Christmas when I was a toddler. I had a red and white printed stocking (it looked like a real sock) and so did my twin sister. And those red rubber boots! Oh to be little again and enjoy all the wonders of that age. :)

Leeanne - Beautiful! I am always very careful when quilting stitchery quilts. I usually never quilt over the designs, unless of course my customer asks me to, but this quilt is lovely!

Karen Miller - Cute little snowman Anne. Can’t wait for the reveal. Have fun in Portland – DH and I are headed to San Diego Friday for a week — hope it’s warmer there than the East Coast — we’re freezin’….

Diane K - Yeah! I am so happy to hear you are coming to Homespun and Holly again this year. I can’t wait to see what we will make – that snowman looks very cute. Sorry to say it sounds like a storm is coming for the weekend, so you will need that umbrella.
