Make a List for 2018!

Chelsea and I each made a bucket list back in 2011, and I found a copy of it today.  Six years later and we haven’t completed much on our list.  Chelsea’s still waiting for her pink convertible, and I’m still trying to organize my photos.

The beautiful thing about this list is that it’s New Year’s Eve and we have another full year to complete it!  I told her I think we need to review and set more realistic goals for 2018.  She keeps reminding me that she’s getting older and wants to update her list with things like a fluffy new bed.

She’s been lounging around today watching me fill up my market basket with goodies to give away tomorrow.

The basket is bursting at the seams, and I can hardly lift it!  I’ve been collecting things all year, and there are 12 bags of treats inside!  We’re going to pick 12 winners tomorrow, and each one is going to get a treat bag!

All you have to do to win is leave me a comment telling me if you’ve ever done a bucket list.  Do you think it’s a good idea to do a yearly bucket list?  One that you can review at the end of each year to see how much you’ve accomplished? Do you have any other ideas for organizing in 2018?

Chelsea and I will be back tomorrow with a list of 12 winners.

Happy New Year’s Eve!

I have never done a bucket list. I have done lists of projects i want to do. Going to do this again this year as I got a tad disorganised and the year ran away with me ;) lol

I never have a formal bucket list but I have a list of things that I’d like to accomplish in the new year. You’ve got me thinking that I should write things down and have a timeline for each one. Might help The procrastinating!

I have never done a bucket list. I fly by the seat of my pants. Sometimes that means I don’t get as much does as I could if I had a plan. Perhaps this year I will make a list and see how that goes.

I don’t make bucket list I do have an idea and plans that I hope I can accomplish over the next year. I have finished 2 Bunny Hill quilts and have 1 in the process of being finished.  I love the holiday quilts.

I think a bucket list would be a reminder of dreams I would love to have come true. I might give it a”try” this year. Dreams do come true……

  • Karla

I have not really tried a bucket list, it would be interesting to see if I could finish it, but there is so much out there to finish.

I made a list of all my quilting projects before attending a quilt show one year so I would limit my spending 😊 it didn’t help😞 I still found lots of treasures ❤️ To follow me home!

I always make lists…they help keep me on track and focused (sometimes a huge challenge for me!). Not everything gets accomplished when I’d like but if it’s important enough, it gets done sooner or later. They also help keep things in perspective. (Spooky Halloween WILL be done by Halloween 2018! ;-) Happy New Year!

I don’t really like to make New Years resolutions as it seems I can’t ever keep them! The only resolution I plan on making is to ‘Quilt more’. Thanks for the chance to win a goodie bag!

I have never done a bucket list, but I think it is something to start this year. It takes courage because I will be pushing myself to try new ideas!

I have made a bucket list and update it every year, taking off the things I have completed and adding those new things for the coming year.  I also keep a status page for my quilt projects, to let me see at a glance what needs to be done next to complete that project, whether it be appliqué, quilting, binding, etc.  Since I am a visual person, it helps to have this status page right in front of me, so I get more accomplished without having to scour through a box or project bag before working on that project I want to complete.  I think bucket lists and status pages are great and recommend them.

My list tends to be in my head but I do know benefit of writing it down. So you can cross it off! Love Bunny Hill,  just adorable.

  • Sarah greider

I’ve never done a bucket list, but this year I have accomplished several things I never thought I would and at the top of the list is scuba diving certification and many subsequent dives in Mexico!

  • Nanette

Oh my!!  I made a bucket list one time and decided I should make it ten items long, that that would be a good start …
Two things happened: I kept wanting to add to the list and had myself very frustrated because I was still trying to limit it to ten items, and the second?  I put the bucket list in the circular file and decided to just keep my temporary list that I can add to, scratch off, change, etc.
Less frustration, more goals sometimes…less goals sometimes… I’m okay with that!!  Life happens!!  😜🌻

I don’t usually make “life” bucket lists. I prefer quilt bucket lists. I see a pic of a quilt & I say “ yep, add that to the bucket list to make” ! That list is so long I’ll probably never get to 1/2 of it in my lifetime but I can dream, 🙄😉 Happy New Year! 🎆🎈🎈🎊

No bucket list, though maybe it’s time. I’ve made resolutions and have even kept a few for years. This year, it’s to finish more projects than I start. . . And to smile more.

  • Jennifer Morgan

I’ve never made a bucket list, but perhaps I should as it might motivate me…maybe that should be my New Years resokution!  Of course, I have lots of things I’d still like to make, I’m a quilter after all!

  • Marge

I don’t make a bucket list but I do make a list of all the people I want to keep in touch with as each new year begins.   I try to call, email or hand write notes to family and dear friends near and far.   Happy 2018 to all.  🎉

  • Cheryl Ann Hill

I don’t like resolutions, but I do set creative goals for myself each year. One year it was to learn fair isle knitting, another to make scrap quilts. My goals for 2018 are to complete 4 quilt tops and a knitted cowl/wrap for my daughter.

  • Linda

I’ve never actually written down a bucket list but I have some ideas of what would be on mine. Maybe that should be my first task in 2018!  Happy New Year Anne and Chelsea!!

  • Sharon Decker

I made my bucket list (not a yearly one) a long time ago.  It is posted on my refrigerator where I can look at it and be inspired.  I’ve marked off a couple of things.  I am now 74 and probably won’t get to see the Northern Lights again as I did as a child in the summer on the shores of Lake Mendota in Madison, WI (#1 on my list).  Most of the things I will most likely never do, but the list still makes me smile and makes me hopeful.  I am glad I made the list and I think everyone should make one for themselves.

  • Shelly Sandy

I have an informal bucket list that I keep in my head.  Some things never get fully checked off (i.e. “Be a better/kinder person” – I think there is always room for improvement) – in 2017 I wS able to check off going to Green Bay to see the Ravens play the Packers.
No other organizing ideas, except that I need to downsize my quilting/crafting supplies.

    Happy New Year!

Lists!  Bucket, daily, monthly, yearly …. there are so many things I want to do!  Chelsea is a great sport … she knows all good things come to those who wait!  Tomorrow I’ll do my 2018 list.  I was fortunate enough to have this past week off from work and finished a few things on my 2017 list.  I always have goals of things I’d like to accomplish!   Wishing you and yours a fabulous 2018, Anne!  Thanks so much for the opportunity!!

  • Donna Fellows

I haven’t done a bucket list, formally. I kinda keep a running list in my head…some get done, some I toss, the rest I work on another time. I might do better if I wrote them down…maybe this year! Happy New Year to you!

  • Denise

It is something that I think about , and then decide if it is truly something I desire or just wishful thinking. I don’t have it written down somewhere, it is just in-my head. If it spends enough time there(it could be any amount of time) I go do it.
I compare it to quilting…if a pattern,or fabric lingers in my head and I find I truly can’t pass it up or needs to be done, then I will buy/purchase it.

My bucket list is ever changing so it’s never written. I view each day as an opportunity to experience as much as the day gives me to do that is boring, exciting or even mundane. And always take at least one moment to be grateful for all I’ve done during that day.

  • Liz Dyer

I become less organized the older I get. But, I do have a bucket list. My most important resolution this year is to be kinder to myself. I am very critical of myself and tend to be a perfectionist. It is time to admit at 65 that I am not perfect and to just enjoy life whatever it brings. Happy new year. I love your designs.

  • Sandy Allen

I’ve never done a bucket list, but may have to in order to get things prioritized!  I don’t like look-backs, because I seem to see what I didn’t get done instead of all I accomplished. Lists tend to make me stressed, so I try not to make any. I want the project to be fun, not stressful!
Happy New Year to you and Chelsea (and your other furbabies, too!) Hope Chelsea gets her soft bed. :)

I don’t make a bucket list.  I have things that I want to accomplish but if I don’t, I will still be happy.  I am such a procrastinator but I hope to break out of that bad habit this year (so maybe that is my bucket list).  I want to finish all of the wips that I have laying over the stair rail in my sewing room and then I will feel comfortable starting something new.  I already have the new project picked out (a Christmas gift, of course).

  • Margaret Ballinger

I have never done a bucket list . I’m not always good at finishing things so I don’t start lists . It helps the frustration factor from happening so often. Happy New Year! Thanks for the giveaway.

  • Patsy

Happy New Year!!!  Never done a bucket list but I think it would be a great thing to do. For 2018….spend more time enjoying the small things and take better care of myself. 🎉🎉🎉

  • Carrolyn v

I think bucket lists make us reflect and categorize….which is good!  But only write it in pencil…..that is why they have erasers!  Re-evaluate in six months and revise!  Happy New Year!

  • Shelley

Last year I wrote a list of quilts I wanted to complete. The year started out great and I completed six!! Then I probably started another six and didn’t complete anymore. Hahaha!! Think I better go write a new list.😃

  • Marlene

I find if I write the list I am very likely to complete the listed task or journey. I love to mark off the completed item!!!  Very motivating.

  • Linda

I have never made a bucket list, mainly because I am a procrastinator!   Maybe I should start one by making #1 “Make a Bucket List”!

  • Bonnie lindsey

I have made bucket lists: Martha’s Vineyard (check), Crabapple Hill Retreat (check), other retreats (open still), bind my French braid tree skirt, Will and Lily quilts, etc. I moved my Will and Lily quilts to my clothes closet so I see them every day!  2018 will see them finished!!

  • Signe

Not exactly a bucket list … no must dos.   Just a group of positive thoughts and plans that I hope to implement to help steer me through the year.   Of course much revolves around friends and quilting.

  • Becky

Whenever I do something special, I call it a bucket list item. However, I don’t have a list made ahead of time….it just unfolds with life’s blessings.

  • Carmen Montmarquet

I have never made a bucket list but i think this would be the time to start one as i have many tops that need to be finished to completion.  Thanks for the nudge in the right direction!  Wishing you a very Happy New Year!!

Yes, I have many bucket lists, quilting projects, health goals, travel, personal growth and giving back.  Many things get accomplished, some don’t, but it has definitely helped me focus a bit.  Happy, healthy New Year!
