Some of you have emailed me to make sure I’m still here..I’m here! I’m here! Welcome to my new updated Bunny Tales. I’ve been thinking about giving my blog a new look for some time now, and I finally decided that no matter what, I had to make time to do it. I hope you like it.
Instead of leading you into a single post on the home page, I’ve given you a selection. The current post will always be in the upper left corner. Just click on it and you’ll be there. If you’re looking for something in particular you can use the “Search” tab over in the right side bar. I’m amazed at how great it works. For example, try searching for the picture I took of an artichoke. Just type in artichoke, click on go, and three posts that mention the word “artichoke” will come up. Go ahead, try it and I’ll wait for you. Just be sure and come right back!
Great, I’m glad you’re back! I hope you read the posts while you were there, because I’ve decided to do a “welcome back to my blog give-away”! Just look at what I’m giving away…
…three bags of Cosmo Embroidery Floss! There’s enough floss in each bag, you may never have to buy floss again! To win one of these floss bags, leave me a comment with the word “artichoke” in it. You can copy from any of my previous posts, or you can make up your own sentence using the word artichoke. I guarantee inside each of these bags is an artichoke color floss that you can use to embroider little artichokes (see how easy it is?). I’ll pick three random winners on Monday, June 20th.
And here’s some news that might make you feel better if you don’t win one of these treat bags. Cosmo floss will be 25% off during our upcoming sale. I’ve moved our July 4th sale to June! For three days everything on our website will be 25% off. Everything! So save the dates of June 24, 25 and 26! It’s our annual July 4th sale early!
I’ve missed all of you and it feels good to be back in blog-land. I hope you’re enjoying some California artichokes this weekend!
Hugs,
Anne
Artichoke is a veggie that I’ll probably never plant in my garden. But i love the color….in fabric and in floss….and in greenbacks! LOL!
I was all “artichoked” up to see your lovely new website. It is terrific. Even better than eating an artichoke.
I like to eat my artichoke with garlic aioli!
Artichokes are not a favorite here, but artichoke colored floss will go just nicely in this quilt I’m trying to pull together. Lavender, yellow and green….
Artichoke really isn’t a favorite of mine to eat but I do love the color it is – thanks for the chance to participate in your giveaway – love your new look
I don’t think I’ve ever had an artichoke. They look too intimidating. Love the floss though!!
My Husband and I Love Artichokes! They are best hot out of the pan and dipped in butter! But, I love Embroidery!!!
I have never tried artichoke pizza but I love really cheesy artichoke dip.

I don’t know if I would like an artichoke, because I’ve never had one, but I would love to receive a big bag of floss! Thanks for doing this giveaway!
Fresh artichokes intimidate me, I don’t really know how to cook them and they seem like too much work! Canned artichokes in the other hand – I love those…salad, pasta, dip! So many delicious possibilities.

Wow, so many comments about artichokes :D I love pickled artichokes alongside cheese and crackers, sort of an antipasto plate, which my hubby and I snack on while watching our favourite shows on tv.
-Annie
I love artichokes, just haven’t cooked one in a long time. What a fabulous giveaway!
I first ate artichokes when I was in college…unknown until then. Haven’t had them in years.
I love artichokes, especially w/ beets in a salad and the color too – such a pretty green! Happy you are back in blog land and I love your new look! thank you!!
I don’t like to eat artichokes, but the artichoke colour floss sounds good to me :)
Arti-chokes on artichokes all the time, but I have never tasted artichokes. We did try to grow some, but there was no flesh in the pod. They did however make beautiful flower heads, when we let them go to seed. Perhaps I should just stick to embroidering them!
One of my favourite restaurants when travelling was one I stumbled upon in Albuquerque New Mexico called The Artichoke Cafe.
I also enjoyed driving along PCH 1 in California and seeing field upon field of artichokes growing and then going to Phil’s Fish Market and having a freshly prepared one for a snack.
Love them!
I thought long and hard to come up with a quirky, cute artichoke comment…alas, I had nothing! I guess when it came down to the art of puns, I choked! Thanks for the fun! :)
I would love to win the floss with the artichoke color in it.
I’m just wondering if Peter Rabbit ever found artichokes in Mr. McGregor’s garden?
I have never cooked an artichoke. But, I would love to stitch one up.
Yay artichokes! We make a quiche that has artichokes, bacon, leek and mushroom in it. It’s glorious.
Artichoke dip is one of my favorites. However, when I make my pasta salad, I always, always add marinated artichoke hearts to it. They make the pasta salad taste so yummy.
I “Heart” artichoke hearts!!!
Your updated blog is beautiful and easy to navigate. Great job!
I too have never tried Cosmo floss, nor have I tried artichokes. Perhaps it’s about time I try both!
A haiku:
Artichoke thistle
You wear your prickly armor
Hiding a soft heart
Such beautiful floss! I have so many ideas…..
I don’t know anything about a artichoke.
Well do know it’s a vegetable
I don’t know anything about a artichoke.
I love artichoke hearts cooked with pancetta and creme fruit and served with pasta. Thank you for a great giveaway. x
I love your new blog design…the header is especially lovely. definitely fits in with your pattern designs. i am curious about one thing…why do you not have artichokes incorporated into any of your pattern designs? i think artichokes and bunnies go together quite nicely.
would love to win a bag of floss…i certainly use a lot of it. ;p
So many clever artichoke jokes! Love Bunny Hill!
no problem fitting the word “artichoke” into a sentence – i literally bought a box (yes, a box) of artichokes from the artichoke festival a few weekends back and have been enjoying artichokes on a nightly basis since then. the thought of being able to embroider an artichoke onto some type of creative’ness… overjoyed at the idea. THNX for the giveaway (and welcome back)!!
Q. What do you call a conversation between two artichokes?
A. A heart to heart….
lol, love your new look it is very pretty!
I love artichokes….especially in the artichoke dip I make…thank you for the artichoke giveaway….
For Father’s day this year, my husband wants us to fondue steak. In addition to his request, I should buy an artichoke and then, cook it! Love your new page!!!
Artichoke, Artichoke, Artichoke! I’m not sure I’ve even typed the word before much less tried one. I have tried a couple of Cosmo Sparkle flosses but not the regular floss. Love the new look on the blog.
I buy pickled artichokes for salads. I also have an embroidery pattern of an artichoke…makes neat kitchen decor.
Artichoke, artichoke, artichoke! My hubby tries to grow artichokes in California. We are still hoping! I prefer floss chokes. Happily bloggiversary!
I have never tried Cosmo floss, but I sure do love artichokes. Thanks for the giveaway!
You have artichoked me up by giving away this much yarn! I will be watching my mail box. 😘
I love spinach and artichoke dip (and Cosmo floss).
Today after I woke,I grabbed a diet coke.
While reading Facebook, I was hoping for a poke.
I spent all the lovely morning, completely going broke,
Buying enough Cosmos floss to make my Visa choke.
Now all I have to eat this week, one tasty artichoke.
No joke!
Artichokes in the spring make a tasty dinner.
I love your new blog, artichokes and Cosmo floss.
If I had a hedgehog I could name him artichoke they look similar although a hedgehog probably wouldn’t taste like an artichoke.
I could embroider a hedgehog eating an artichoke at a picnic perhaps
I have never tried artichokes but I know they also look good in an ornamental garden and one of my paternal Grandmother’s nicknames was Flossie :D
I love Artichokes in my salad, and have plans to grow my own!!!
Artichokes are one of my favorite vegetables. I like them both with butter or mayonnaise (not at the same time). I would love the bag of floss. I could embroider forever.
Love the new look Anne!! All my life I thought I didn’t like artichokes. Then I tried a Ti Amo pizza at our local italian spot. OMG! I am now a fan of the artichoke – gimme more!
Love the new blog !! I could really use some artichoke colored floss for my embroidery projects. Thanks Anne !!
I grew up in a small town near the small town that is the artichoke capital of the world. I thought every one loved artichokes as much as I do.
We used to sing a little song that began
Have you ever seen an artichoke(sounds like “otter choke”)
An artichoke,
An artichoke,
Well see one right now.
It continued with new verses with whatever double meaning phrases we could think of. Like “banana slug” ( later became the mascot of UCSC). Or “horse fly”.
It still makes me laugh, especially as I teach it to my grandchildren.
Tired of being broke and stuck in an unhappy marriage, a young husband decided to solve both problems by taking out a large insurance policy on his wife and arranging to have her killed.A “friend of a friend” put him in touch with a nefarious underworld figure, who went by the name of “Arti.” Arti explained to the husband that his going price for snuffing out a spouse was $5,000. The husband said he was willing to pay that amount, but that he wouldn’t have any cash on hand until he could collect his wife’s insurance money. Arti insisted on being paid in part up front. The man opened up his wallet and displayed the single dollar bill that rested inside. Arti sighed, rolled his eyes, and reluctantly agreed to accept the dollar as down payment for the dirty deed.A few days later, Arti followed the man’s wife to the local Safeway grocery store. There, he surprised her in the produce department and proceeded to strangle her with his gloved hands. As the poor unsuspecting woman drew her last breath and slumped to the floor, the manager of the produce department stumbled unexpectedly onto the scene. Unwilling to leave any witnesses behind, Arti had no choice but to strangle the produce manager as well. Unknown to Arti, the entire proceedings were captured by hidden cameras and observed by the store’s security guard, who immediately called the police. Arti was caught and arrested before he could leave the store. Under intense questioning at the police station, Arti revealed the sordid plan, including his financial arrangements with the hapless husband. And that is why, the next day in the newspaper, the headline declared: “Arti chokes two for a dollar at Safeway.”
that’s hilarious LOL
I love artichokes and feel fortunate to live in California and able to grow my own. They are good to eat and the beautiful flowers are perfect additions for a rustic bouquet.
My favorite memory of artichokes was when I was single and living in my own. Apartment. My Mom came to visit me for the weekend and I made steamed artichokes for dinner. It seemed really extravagant and we both really enjoyed them and that weekend. She has passed away now but I remember that meal as one of my favorites!
I love to eat Artichokes yummy!!! I would love some of that yummy floss too!!! so glad to see you blogging again! I have been missing you in blogland!
I am not sure if I like artichokes or not since I have never tried one and I certainly don’t know how to cook one. Anyway maybe you have a recipe I could try? Thanks for the chance to win I love your ‘New’ look!
Love stuffed artichokes! Yum!
Welcome back. We missed you! I love artichoke dont you?
OH my gosh, I loved reading the artichoke comments. I got such a giggle over the jokes. Thank you for the chance to win Cosmo floss! Oh how I miss California artichokes. We recently moved to Nevada after a lifetime in California. I have not seen one artichoke here.
I love to eat artichoke!!!!
I love artichoke spinach dip, I could eat the whole recipe in one sitting…so I only make it if there are going to be a bunch of gals together…quilt group of course!
I love the new look to the blog!
If I can’t to embroidered “artichoke”. 😊
Love the new look. Not an artichoke fan, bunnies are more in my line.
oh artichoke dip, i love you so, why can’t you be fat free?
Artichoke hearts are a big ingredient in the salads around here. I don’t normally eat them, but if they are in salad, I don’t see them so it is okay. :)
I introduced my best friend to the deliciousness of artichokes when she was in her 30s — she had never eaten one! Now she is an artichoke maniac. :-)
I love a sandwich made of artichokes with roasted red peppers, avocados and sprouts on a croissant. Don’t forget the cream cheese, yum.
When I am not quilting or embroidering with what poor little floss I have, I often make my favorite artichoke dip. Mix:
2 cups mayonnaise with 2 cups Parmesan cheese. Add 1 can artichoke hearts, one can green chilies and garlic to taste. Bake 30 min. at 350 degrees. Spread on French bread slices or crackers and enjoy. Just kidding about the amount of floss I have. Interestingly I don’t have any Cosmo. Would love to try it.
Artichokes are so good to eat! I’d have to make sure their little hearts stay away from all that thread!
Great to hear you are up and running. Have a wonderful summer!
Love the new look of your blog. Congratulations hope it wasn’t too daunting a task. Oh artichokes, love them, had a bummer crop in summer, then the wind blue the HUGE plant over, we cut it down and it came back better than ever. We have frosts now so all the summer plants have been hard hit and are now turning to compost. I once had a cat that loved avocado with vinaigrette must try the current cat with an artichoke.
Welcome back to blogland! Artichoke is a word I often mispronounce, or so I’m told by my daughters. I make the i sound like a long e. Is that so wrong??? :)
Thanks for the opportunity to win this awesome giveaway!!
I have only eaten artichoke in hot spinach and artichoke dip.
Marinated artichoke hearts are great on pizza.
I am not sure if I like artichoke but I know that I love floss. Could use some in my new baby quilt using your alphabet panel and sweet pattern. It is for grandgirl number three.

Artichoke and spinach dip is amazing – but not as good as a collection of Cosmo floss!
The lovely and delicious artichoke comes in beautiful colors of green as well as even purple tints on green.
It’s been a while since I have had any artichoke dip. Now
I am hungry for it.
I would love the floss.
We have a big garden this summer and the family has been wanting to enjoy some artichokes in other recipes than guacamole! Glad you are back Anne! Looking forward to your new blogs.
When my granddaughter stays with me, artichoke is one of the things she requests. She loves the leaves but not the heart, so I get to have the best part.
Love the new look! And of course I love your designs.
Thanks for the giveaway!
An artichoke without butter is incomplete! Love the blog!
Artichoke leaves dipped in butter. Yes

I have never eaten artichoke but love the color! Love floss too. Thanks for a chance to win some.
Love the new blog!
I always thought cooking an artichoke was a lot of work for very little payback. However, artichoke hearts from a jar are pretty yummy! And artichoke colored floss would be even better! Love the new look of your blog!
I have never eaten an artichoke. My BFF loves them and said he would cook some for me.
I am happy to see you again. How nice of you to have this give-away.
I have never eaten an artichoke. Those bags of floss look yummy! Thanks for the giveaway and the chance.
I love artichokes dipped in butter.
Wow! I just made chicken with artichokes and asparagus for dinner last night – how did you know? Not sure if the floss would outlast my stack of waiting projects but I’m willing to give it a try. Thanks always for being such an inspiration and encouragement.
I have never eaten an artichoke. The color is very pretty though and so are the bags of floss. Thank you for the giveaway.
Great info. On how to cook artichokes. I will definitely be trying it. Thanks for the chance to win some lovely floss!

I don’t like artichokes but I hear that they are good for you.
I have never eaten artichoke . I Wonder why not?
“I never met an “ARTICHOKE” I didn’t like! Coming from CA, artichokes were plentiful in the markets and we made them all sorts of ways. It took about 3 tries for our grandkids to like them, now that they know what they are, they love them.
PS: I LOVE Cosmo floss too!
Thanks for the chance to win a bundle.
I love artichokes and artichoke-colored Cosmo floss!
I make a recipe with artichokes and shrimp in lemon risotto. It is SO DELICIOUS!!!!
I always savor the artichoke heart with a little butter and drop of fresh lemon juice, sublime, just like your bags of floss ! Thanks for all you do, new blog design and patterns.
I have never eaten fresh artichokes, but I have eaten pickled artichokes in salads, but I love the color green and all the other colors in those beautiful packages of yours.
Artichoke spinach dip is so yummy!!
I love warm artichoke dip! But I try to not make it except for special events because I can’t control myself!
I love the color green, so I love decorating with artichokes. I had to learn how to eat an artichoke tho – as an adult because we never ate them when I was a kid.
I cannot believe there are people who have never eaten an artichoke. Here in California, artichokes are common fare and greatly enjoyed by my family. Wow, a bag of Cosmos floss? And one floss in the artichoke color? Thanks for the wonderful give away.
I still remember the first time my then future husband saw an artichoke. We were at a restaurant and the water served this strange item to the table next to us. He was from Brooklyn and had never seen one. We ordered one and I had to teach him about them. I live in California, so it is a common item since almost all the artichokes grown in the US come from Watsonville, in California
The old TV show “THAT GIRL”, with Marlo Thomas, once did an episode about artichokes. The name of the show was A PREPONDERANCE OF ARTICHOKES. It was hilarious!
“Artichokes” well now what can I say about them. They are funny looking things; their name just sounds like something bad; and the worst is the color is green!
But I love to eat them! and The color Green is perfect to blend with others. I would love to win the bag of embroidery floss and I already have so many ideas of what to make with them. Thank you for this opportunity. Love your new page.
We have artichokes growing in the front yard. Going to pick them this week!
My favorite memory of Rome is eating artichokes at a neighborhood restaurant close to the Spanish steps with my husband. As for embroidery thread, my grandmother taught me to embroidery when I was 4 years old and I love having every possible shade of colors in my palette.
Love the new look! Artichoke hearts is where it’s at.
I’ve never met an artichoke I didn’t like. Love the new look on your blog. I have never sewn with Cosmos threads but would love to try them out. Thanks for a chance!
Artichokes are soooo good with a salad of mozzarella & sweet tomatoes!! One of my favorites 😊 Don’t you just love the color of artichokes ?!! I’m addicted to all the colors of embroidery thread !! 💝
I’ll bet bunnies like artichokes too, but they can’t embroider. Luckily for me, I love both artichokes and embroiderery! And, I love the new style!
I’ve never purchased an artichoke but have eaten dishes made with them a few times.
I love your artichoke picture. The natural patterns of our world are amazing. A full bag of Cosmos floss would be amazing! Your new web site is beautiful.
Hi Anne!! I am so glad you’re back! I adore your fabric and have lots of it. I love artichokes and embroidery, not necessarily together tho. Hehehe! I don’t have any Cosmo floss so it would be wonderful to win. Thanks for the opportunity!
Love the new look. So soft and pretty. Artichokes are so yummy grilled and drizzled with balsamic vinegar!
Can’t say I’ve ever cooked and artichoke but since my husband does all the cooking could be why. He does make a mean artichoke dip. You don’t see fresh artichokes much here in Oklahoma. Oh my I can’t get that word out of my head. I love cosmos floss. Would be nice to win I could make beautiful ART if I don’t CHOKE. lol Love the new website.
I like the look of your “new” blog, and I like how simple it is to link from one page to another. Particularly, the Shop page. I always had a difficult time locating that page in the past. Anyhow, getting to the floss, your giveaway is very timely for me, as I have just picked up stitchery projects again. And I LOVE Cosmos floss. And I’m sure I’m going to need the artichoke color. Absolutely sure of it.
This gives me the idea of going to a farmers market to take pictures of artichokes to paint. Thanks for the great idea.
Isn’t it amazing to think we are all chatting about the fabulous artichoke in the year 2016 and that they can be traced back to the time of the Ancient Greeks and Roman Empire.
I love the color and the design of the artichoke.
(and the new blog)
I love using Cosmos thread–it is hard to find in my area so I’m glad you carry it. Presently I’m using one color to outline some applique on a quilt I’m making. The current block has 50 artichoke green leaves–really!! So glad you’re doing fine. I check your site regularly. Love your new site design!
I love the new look of your blog, it’s wonderful! I also love artichokes, they are so versatile, good in dip, plain, with mayonnaise ……
I’m glad to see you back. I love some of the tiny patterns I have of yours to use for package enhancements for babyshower congratulations.
Another little trick the chef used was to pan fry the artichokes (cut side down) in a bit of olive oil before serving, now my question is how did DH fix them?
This giveaway is absolutely outstanding. Thank you for this opportunity to win.
Don’t think I have ever eaten an artichoke:) Are they yummy?
The blog looks marvelous!
I’m allergic to artichokes, but I’m not allergic to floss!
I love artichokes. I think I will try one in Rome when we are there next month. The first time I ate an artichoke was in high school at a friend’s house. I was so amazed at how good they were and they have been on my menus ever since.
Anne, your new blog looks great and when I searched for artichoke it did exactly what you said. I saw 4 posts come up on screen. Kudos to the tech person! Hope you are enjoying the last bit of spring!

This is the first sentence that I ever wrote with the word artichoke it it. All for the chance to win floss!!
I’ve never eaten an artichoke but liked watching someone enjoying her lunch of them. The thread pack looks super! Beautiful new colors for flowers.
I’ve never had an artichoke, but with so much love,I’ll buy one this weekend. But I have some Cosmo floss and I love it! My fingers are crossed. Thanks for the chance!
Our family favorite appetizer is artichoke spinach dip11. Think I’ll make some today 😀
Welcome back to you also Anne! LOVE the new look! Very pretty and easy to read as well. Looks great.
I have to say I have never bought a fresh artichoke, but I have bought plenty of cans of artichokes. My absolute favorite appetizer, which I make often is Spinach and Artichoke Dip. SO YUMMY!
Thank you for the chance at an amazing looking bag of goodies. My floss supply is extremely low so I know I could use it, and maybe share with my future DIL who loves to do Cross Stitch as well.
Two words: artichoke lasagna. Brings back memories of dinner Christmas night in Rome…
Your picture of the half artichoke looks so good, I think they will be on our menu for dinner soon!
I must admit I am not a lover of artichokes! But I do love your patterns and have bought many and kits too. Now I just need to find the time to make them.😉
I tried to grow artichoke in my garden but voles ate the roots before any of the artichoke could form. I was so disappointed.
Artichokes from Roma are the most delicious thing in the whole wide world!
You know – I have never tried artichoke. You make it sound delicious. My mom would make cabbage heads this way – cut in half boiled and sometimes spread with sour cream. Love your new blog look!
I love adding artichokes to pasta, but I’d love to learn how to cook and eat a fresh artichoke. Thank you for the giveaway.

‘Bitsy LOVES a bite or two of artichoke heart dipped in butter. Chelsea doesn’t care for them. Mooch sides with Chelsea on this one.’ Have a lovely weekend! Christine x
I love artichokes on pizza, but my husband doesn’t like them at all. Nice floss!
Artichoke wa not been introduced to me in my diet till later in my life. It is a taste that is required to have an open mind as you peel it, to find yummy, succulent petals.
The Cosmos embroidery floss is the eye on the prize, with all those succulent colours, that makes ones mouth droole!
Artichoke? Who would have thought of such a unique word?!!
I hope Canadians are eligible for the draw.
I know you ship to Canada as I’ve ordered from you before.

no se como lo tendré que solucionar?
buen fin de semana
I LOVE artichokes! Yum!!!! I wish I really knew how to prepare an artichoke, though!!!!
What a nice update to your site. A few years ago we were attending a College Baseball Tournament near Castroville and got stuck behind a truck full of artichokes. The artichokes were flying out of the truck and we only wished we could stop and bring them back to Texas! I would love a chance to embroider with the Cosmo floss since it’s not available in my quilt stores.
Love our new look it’s so fresh! I had the best artichoke hearts a few years ago in Turkey they were absolutly yummy.
I love your new look. I was just thinking about the color of artichokes and wondering if there was a crayon that color. Or floss that color. I’m not sure if I’ve eaten one before. I guess with all this talk about them I’ll have to try them.
My Mama loved fresh steamed artichokes served with a squirt of lemon juice and mayo for dipping.
“Bitsy likes a bite or two of artichoke heart dipped in butter.” BTW, I love love love your new site.
What brilliant prizes. if I win I promise I will stitch one of your dear little bunnies in artichoke coloured thread.
Oh, My ! I was in my kitchen, quietly peeling artichokes for lunch, when my daughter called me :
“quick, quick, momma, there’s a gorgeous giveaway to win from Bunny Tales blog!”
Of course, I ran to my PC, and discovered that wonderful surprise : 3 full nests of Cosmo Threads! Pure blisssssss :)
Ooooh, I can already imagine all those cute embroideries I’d make with them : flowers, little animals, veggies (including an artichoke, for sure !)…
So now, back to my kitchen, I’m dreaming eyes wide open, crossing my fingers (and toes!) that I could be one of the Lucky, Lucky winners :)
In stitches,
NADINE
We have a beautiful old timber frame pub in Canterbury called The Artichoke. If you’re ever this way, I would recommend a visit!http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/2079029?m=19905
I’ve never had an artichoke – but the color is great!
Bitsy LOVES a bite or two of artichoke heart dipped in butter. Chelsea doesn’t care for them. Mooch sides with Chelsea on this one,my husband, however, will love me to prepare them with the chef’s tips from your post.In fact, he may even sweep me off my feet in a dance of delight-yay!
I’ve never cooked an artichoke in my life and rarely eaten them.
I always wonder who first tried eating an artichoke. It’s a prickly thistle, and I expect it took a while to work out how to deal with it. I’m glad they did though!
artichoke Is a favorite vegetable of mine

As a young bride, my Mother moved from Yakima, Washington to Santa Cruz, CA in 1946. My grandmother serviced artichokes as a special treat to her new daughter-in-law. My Mother hadn’t ever seen an artichoke. Needless to say it didn’t go well, since Mother devoured the entire leave. Not sure if Mother ever grew to acquire a taste for the intended treat. :)
Artichokes have been one of my favorite veggies since I was young…any way they are prepared, I LOVE ARTICHOKES!
I love eating fresh artichoke steamed with a little lemon butter and I love that it is part of growing up Californian. Thanks for the reminder and the chance to win!
I LOVE artichokes! I am going to grill them this weekend! So happy to hear from you!
We can grow artichokes here in the “banana belt” of Colorado, but they don’t get very big so it isn’t a commercial crop. I love Cosmo floss and have some precious skeins I purchased in Tokyo in a 4 story fabric store. Bliss!
Ok, I love your new blog and newsy posts. I love artichokes and can’t imagine them hot or cold without mayo and normally I’m not a mayo fan but artichokes and mayo, delish in the summer. At the Raleys/Bel Air I just discovered fresh artichoke hearts in a bag by Monterrey farms dipped in fresh garlic and lemon. They are delicious and you can add them to salads easily. I would love to win, yes. I like hand embroidery.
I’m going this week to Reno to the Sew Original Quilt & Creative Expo held at the Grand Sierra Hotel. Wish you would be there. I’m taking 2 classes by a Judy Neimeyer certified instructor. I know nothing about paper piecing but I will learn.

The flower of the ARTICHOKE is so beautiful – perfect for embroidering with lovely COSMO floss. COSMO is so difficult for those of us living in rural/regional areas of Australia to purchase. I would love to be a recipient of one of those bags – such a treat.

One of our New Year’s Eve traditions is to make many different appetizers; spinach and artichoke dip is always on the menu. We serve it with tortilla or pita chips.
My best friend and I love to make artichoke dip when we get together. I love Cosmo floss!
I don’t know how to prepare an artichoke to eat and would have to do some research first.

A heart to heart.
We love to eat artichokes at our house, and I would love to work with a lovely artichoke colored floss!
I think artichokes are so attractive, but only eat them if they are disguised in artichoke dip. I did make a lovely appliqued artichoke 😄!
I love artichokes. I just wish they were an easy vegetable for the home gardener to grow. And also wish they didn’t take so long to prepare. I have a wonderful recipe, so easy, but one that I haven’t seen printed often.
And I don’t know how many people remember the 50’s when the artichoke hairstyle was popular. Unfortunately it was not attractive on me !!!!
I really like the new look and fervently hope to win the prize.
Castroville is the artichoke capital of the world–just down the road from Bunny Hill Designs?
Do I have an artichoke joke? Nope! I may just croak or go take a soak. Not funny I know, but my clever hubby didn’t have anything for me, so you got my “best” try–or worst if I do say so myself.
Now, here is a bit of information from Bon Appetite magazine about the illustrious artichoke–ready or not:
“Aristotle called the artichoke a “cactus,” but it wasn’t a case of ancient Greek botany gone wrong. Back then, the word for an artichoke–or at least its closest relative, a kind of wild artichoke that’s now called a “cardoon”–was kaktos. But the story of how that became the “artichoke” is about as thorny as they come.
The ancestor of our word “artichoke” comes from the opposite side of the Mediterranean from Greece: Arab-occupied Spain. There, the western Arabic word for an artichoke-y plant, al-karsufa (al in Arabic just means “the”), turned into the Spanish alcarchofa. This worked its way to Northern Italy, where it got turned into articiocco, most likely because ciocco was the local word for “stump,” and arti– was a version of our prefix “arch,” meaning “high” (and the artichoke plant does have a big stumpy mass up high).
Articiocco then worked its way into English, and like the Italians before them, English speakers tended to make up associations for the word. Some called it a “hartichoke,” since it looked like a heart; others assumed that the “choke” part had something to do with the hard-to-breathe meaning of “choke,” either because you’d choke if you ate the middle of the plant, or because it grew so fast that it would choke out all the other growth around it. All of this was wrong, of course, since it really came from Arabic via Italian. But facts rarely get in the way of a common-sense folk etymology.”
I love artichoke hearts! Yum!
I hail from the land of artichokes…. Well, maybe not Castroville exactly…. But from Salinas, just up the road!!! A wonderful place to be from!!!
I love steamed artichokes with breading!
When we first moved to Colorado from California we were at the grocery store and purchased artichokes. The checker didn’t know what they were! Sad sad sad!!!!

Artichokes and spinach dip is my favorite appitizer. Love your new look!
Two artichokes are crossing the street when one of them gets hit by a bus. His friend frantically calls 911, and paramedics soon arrive and rush the injured artichoke to the e.r.
At the hospital, the worried friend paces nervously until a doctor emerges from the trauma unit. “I have good news and bad news,” the doctor says.
“What’s the good news?”
“He survived.”
“And the bad news?”
“Well, don’t get too choked up about this, but he’ll be a vegetable for the rest of his life.”
Thank you, thank you; I’m here all week!
Hi Anne! You already know that I love your new blog design. But I have to admit, the only thing I like about artichokes is the color and the beautiful plant itself. Thanks for the giveaway, the floss looks amazing!

I grew up on artichokes since I am from California. My husband Roberto, although from California, never had an artichoke in his life. When he came over for dinner to meet my parents my mother served artichokes. Not wanting to let us know that he had never had an artichoke and not wanting to be impolite he ate the whole thing even the leaves!

The cosmos floss colours look yummy too!!!! Thanks for the chance to own them.
I remember the artichoke hair style! Yes, I wore it back in the dark ages as a teen. It was a teased hairdo where you had bangs and the rest of the top fanned out. Short hair!
I can’t say that I’ve ever eaten an artichoke, but those bags of floss look big enough to choke a horse. :D
Love your new blog. So pretty!
