Quilts

Hope Blooms

If you’re a fan of my Kindred Spirits fabric line, and you love pink and white, I’ve designed a quilt for The Fat Quarter Shop that I think you’ll love.  We’re calling it “Hope Blooms”.   It’s a quilt designed especially for breast cancer awareness and one that would make a wonderful gift for someone recently diagnosed.  It has a touch of applique combined with one of my favorite quilt blocks, The Log Cabin!

I’ve always loved the log cabin block and I’ve spent a lot of time in the past trying to make each block perfect.   This time it was easy because of the Creative Grids 8” Log Cabin Ruler.  With this ruler you’ll end up with perfectly pieced log cabin blocks.

Making the block

Using only the pink and white fabrics from my Kindred Spirits line gave the log cabin blocks a soft and feminine look.  It’s a look that I love.

Hope Blooms Log Cabin Block

Hope Blooms is the perfect size for a lap quilt, 50” x 60”.   The applique is easy and suitable for any method.  Just remember to reverse the applique pattern if you use a fusible applique.  Make it with or without the applique, it’s beautiful either way.

For the border I used my favorite fabric in the Kindred Spirits line…the pink and white vintage floral.

The Fat Quarter Shop is offering the exclusive pattern and kit for this quilt.   They also carry the Creative Grids Log Cabin Ruler.  You’ll find a video from The Fat Quarter Shop showing you how to use the ruler to make this block.  It’s “sew” easy!

Enjoy the video that Kimberly made.  You’ll want to add this ruler to your stash.

See the Video here.

Hugs,

Anne

I just love love love your quilt!!! I’m making this out of your Bunny hill fabrics and I bought the pattern from Fat Quarter Shop and also I have that ruler. Can I use the fat quarters to make this? Or do I need to use the requirements that the pattern says for a lap size? This quilt is sooo pretty and your fabrics make it so beautiful!

I think that’s the prettiest log cabin I’ve ever seen! I love Creative Grids–they make the best rulers. Since I’ve never made a log cabin quilt, I may need to seek out this ruler and give it a try!

I LOVE your Kindred Spirits Fabric and this quilt made with only the pink and whites of it. I’ve been watching the video (a few times) :) and also love how that ruler works for trimming up the log cabin blocks.

This fabric line is positively luscious! Pink is definitely a very favorite color and this quilt is perfect. It’s hard to pick a favorite fabric but that vintage pink and white floral is so beautiful – Anne, I think you have outdone yourself this time!

    Congratulations!!

So beautiful Anne! Your favorites are my favorites too. I am totally embracing my love for pink. No color makes me happier.

Love the soft colors and of course your fabrics! But the best thing about this quilt is the thought behind it. My mum was recently diagnosed with breast cancer she’s now undergoing therapy and fortunaly she’s doing well. Sadly these are not so much her colors but I think she would love this quilt in other colors! Thanks for the idea:-)

What a beautiful quilt! I love the softness….with all the pretty new looks you’ve created recently, this one takes me back to the look that made me fall in love with Bunny Hill Designs :) The log cabin ruler looks like it would truly simplify squaring up your blocks as you work.
