Traveling with Applique

I was asked by Moda to share any tips I had on traveling with applique.  This really got me thinking, and I realized I hadn’t shared with you the applique travel case a friend made for me!  I use this case so much it’s become a part of me.  It goes to the Dr’s office, the dentist, car rides and quilt shops with me.  It’s well traveled and very familiar with airplanes.  The pattern was designed by Pearl at P3 Designs, and I love it so much I’ve added the pattern to my web site.  Now you can make one of these travel cases too!

Applique Case

You can’t imagine all the things this little case can hold!

And when it’s closed everything is held in place by a strip of Velcro.

You can buy the pattern, together with the Omnigrid Mini Mat right here!

Here’s a little tip for my blog readers….our July 25% off sale starts on July 5th and runs for 3 days.  You can buy anything on our website for 25% off, including all of our new patterns that are now in stock.  Take the time to look through our site now and then wait to shop until Sunday!

I’ll be back on Sunday with Snow Happy Hearts for July!  Have a wonderful 4th!

How fun to see this, as I have one just like it! I made mine at least 10 years ago and liked it so well I made another four for family member Christmas gifts. Everything you mentioned is right about this wonderful little carry along sewing kit!

Oh drat! I missed the sale but I love this travel case! Very clever and I imagine so useful. Nice to have everything you need contained so well. Thanks for sharing this with us.

This is such a great case, looks like it holds everything you need for projects. I have something similar a friend made (but not as compact) which I use whenever I hand sew, and it’s so convenient. Ok, now I just have to remember to check out your sale before it ends! Happy 4th, Anne :)

What a clever traveling pouch! I love the color. It matches my new Ikea rolling cart that I purchased to give me more space while hand or machine sewing at home. Looking forward to Sun. sale and the next heart. Happy 4th!!!

How perfect! I think I need one of these. I try to have handwork with me wherever I go. You just never know when you might get a few minutes to do some stitching.

    Hi Anne!

I use a plastic zippered pouch! This would certainly advance my appliqué expertise to a new level. I love it! I will check it out on Sunday. Thanks for the sale.

Have a great 4th. I hope the fire works don’t scare your babies.

    Love,
    Mary

Read your tips on the Moda blog thanks for sharing! I have another one for you: instead of whole spools I’m using bobbins to take with me. These are smaller and if you need a few colors (and maybe be away on a vacation) it’s really practical. Have a great 4th:-)
