Happy January 3rd!

Organizing in 2015

Just three days into the New Year and I can feel the excitement.  I’ve been reading so many good blog posts on how to get organized,  de-cluttered and make life simpler. My favorite posts have come from The Inspired Room. Melissa breaks everything down into doable things and she makes me want to get started right away.  I have to admit when I walked into our pantry this morning, I turned right around and walked back out.  I’m missing the one thing I need…a scheduled day to pull everything out and start over. And maybe a helper and bag carrier to assist.  It’s so much more fun to do this horrid job with someone else.   :>)

I’ve decided that maybe if I work for an hour or even 1/2 hour each week on organizing, I might get something accomplished.  I do know I have to schedule the time and write it into my planner, or it will never get done.

Do you have any organizing plans you’d like to share?  I’d love to hear them and maybe pick up an idea or two.  I’ll be concentrating on my sewing studio this year and as I think up ideas I’ll share them with you!

25% off sale starting on Monday!

Don’t you love those sales where everything is 25% off?  We have one starting on January 5th and running for three days.  I’m giving my blog readers advance notice so you can check out our website and decide if there’s anything you need.  I just added a kit that’s perfect for Valentines Day, called Here’s My Heart.  You’ll find it here on my website and on Monday you’ll find it marked down 25%!  No code is needed (we hope).  With our new website we’re able to schedule sales in advance so keep your fingers crossed it works for us!

Free Pattern?

So many people email to ask if I have another free block of the month for this year.  No, I just can’t fit it in and do justice to the other things I’m working on.  Instead, I’ve come up with something for you I’m calling the Snow Happy Hearts Club.   I’ve designed 12 heart ornaments, one for each month of the year.  Starting January 5th. you’ll find one pattern a month here on my blog,  website and in my newsletter.  Download the patterns using Adobe Acrobat Reader (it’s free, but I uncheck the box that says download McAfee Security),  I think you’ll find  a lot of uses for these hearts.  I’ll be sharing some ideas with you.

Welcome to 2015 everyone.  I can’t wait to spend 2015 with you!

Hugs,

Anne

Thank you for the monthly Hearts and Snowmen! They look so cute and the perfect quicker project for the times we want to go handmade but are out of time! And if you find the organizing trick be sure and let us know…my sewing room is so out of control! And finally, Happy New Year to you and yours!

Sounds like fun, I like small projects to break up a long project, maybe give me a start on next Christmas gifts, lol, Lorraine

Decluttering seems to be THE theme for 2015…I’m seeing so much inspiration. Just perusing the blog you’ve shared here offers so many great ideas. Since we just celebrated Christmas yesterday (it’s the first time we could all be together), now I’ll be moving into that decluttering mode as well. Thanks for the link, and thanks also for the Snow Happy Hearts Club….looks like a fun little monthly project. Happy New Year, Anne :)

I see you are on Facebook. Go there and type in #31days2getorganized by Peter WAlsh. He is going to start this on January 5. I did it last year and it was wonderful. He requires you to take only 15 minutes a day (or longer if you really get motivated). This might just be what you need.

I’ve learnt the hard way to take everything I do in small chunks. 20 minutes at a time; computer, sewing machine, cleaning, tidying etc. It is amazing what you can get done in 20 minutes! Set your alarm and move on!!!!! Take out one box, tidy it or clean one shelf. Oh; don’t forget to find somebody who will be willing to do the heavy lifting if you come across heavy stuff and your trash is somebody else’s treasure so give away if you can instead of throw away (except those out-of-date cans that seem to breed in the kitchen cupboards – can you tell what I am tackling at the moment??? ;-D)

I’ve given up on the idea of being organized. I’m more a “fly by the seat of my pants” kind of girl, and I have to live with the consequences. I used to aspire to being organized, but now even that notion seems foreign to me. To qoute that famous sailor-man “I yam what I yam”! Having said that, counter clutter drives me crazy….just dont walk into my sewing room!!

I’ve been cleaning, purging, and organizing lately, and I feel great! Every little bit helps. Looking forward to your monthly hearts. My most recent project was to sort all my fabric scraps by color, so I’m ready to roll. Happy New Year!
