Moochers

I was going through pictures today and I found some of Moochers my cat.

Moochers, I can’t believe we named her that, the poor cat.  She was such a frail thing when she found us, and the name didn’t fit at all.  But there we were in the vet’s office and they asked me her name.  Moochers was all that came to mind, so Moochers it was.

When she found us she was starving
When she found us she was starving

I think that’s why she’s giving me this look.  She just can’t believe I named her that!

You've named me what?
You’ve named me what?

Over time the name grew to fit her.  Or, maybe she grew to fit the name?   Hummm…

Mooch

Now she’s a “huge” part of our family and I dare say she’s probably the only cat ever named Moochers.  She comes when she’s called and I take that as a sign she likes her name.

 Mooch-

She even looks like a Moochers now.  No starving cats in this house!

Moochers now

She’s getting older and like all of us, she’s starting to show a bit of age.  The fur above her eyes may be thinning but her body sure isn’t.

She’ll be helping me decorate for Christmas this week.  She loves to participate in everything, especially if it involves a pillow.  Have you started decorating yet?  Do you start right after Thanksgiving?

Moochers

Fyi, we’re working on our blog over the next week trying to fix a few things.  Hopefully our link page will be back soon!

She’s such a beautiful cat! Those eyes! I had to do a bit of name changing when I brought my two cats home from the shelter, too. And of course, they love to help with quiltmaking… although I’d rather work alone!

    Ann,

Moochers is so beautiful!! God knew exactly what home needed Moochers & what home Moochers needed . . . a great match! I’ve done several cat, dog, guinea pig & bird rescues in my time . . . they are always the best pets . . . I think they KNOW they’ve been saved! You are a kindred spirit (reference from one of favorite movie series, Anne of Green Gables w/Megan Fellows).

I start decorating after Thanksgiving . . . but some years it takes me a week or so to decorate.

I know this post has been up for a couple of weeks, but I have read it 2-3 times. The photos of Moochers are wonderful. What a great name and great photos of a beautiful cat. Thanks for sharing your critters with us. I love to read about animals and their humans.

    blessings and Merry Christmas,

    Hi Anne,
I’m sure Moochers doesn’t mind her name at all…I expect when she found you she was happy to be called anything :)
Thanksgiving is usually the go ahead to turn on the outdoor Christmas lights and begin to transition the house from autumn to winter decorating. All that said, I’m a bit slow to start this year but today am hanging garland outside to welcome visitors. Happy Holidays :)

Moochers is truly a beauty! What a really pretty girl.

Am I correct, but don’t you have at least 2 other cats – I think they are black kitties. Or am I wrong & confused?

Anyway, give Moochers a scratch on the head from me :-)

Sweet kitty! I think the name suits her! We always start decorating the day after thanksgiving ( that is unless black Fridays hasn’t kicked our tails). I love Christmas decorations and I love looking at my tree when all lit up! The last 2 years the season seemed short and we haven’t put up all or Christmas décor:( Maybe the old saying is true the older you get the faster the year goes by lol. Looking forward to the new site.

She is beautiful …. love her color!!! My own Polly has a Sherpa bed like Moochers and she also lays out with legs straight behind her! They could maybe be friends???!!!!

She’s beautiful! My cats are 10yo now and it shows. They stay more inside where it’s warmer and the connection between us grows stronger every day. As much as I love kitties I think it’s even better when they’re older:-)

We had a cat once that we named Uegly – pronounced you-glee. The girl we got her from said she was ugly and had named her that. She grew up to be a beautiful part Siamese cat.

Ms Moochers is such a lovely color. So now you have a full family. Two doggies, a cat, is that enough now or will there be more to add sometime.
    Anne. You are special.
I too enjoy the photo of her wither legs splayed. Cats are so fun, we have a three quarter siamese and never cease to notice new things about her and her antics even though she is eight and a half she is still going strong. Sleeps with us every night, is such a member of the family. Just us three, dad mom and Suki. Suzi rules though, does your Ms M?? Patricia G

Moochers was a very lucky cat to be adopted into your family. She looks like she is having quite the nice life. Thanks for sharing her pretty face with us.
