My first quilt museum visit!
Guess where I was this past weekend? On Friday I was in Lincoln, Nebraska on my first quilt museum tour. I went behind the scenes at the International Quilt study Center & Museum. It was absolutely amazing and I could have easily spent days just looking at the quilts they have in storage. Oh how I wanted to open each box!
The exhibit on display was called “Log Cabin’s and Kit Quilts”. This was my favorite Log Cabin ever!
From Lincoln I drove to Gretna, Nebraska for a fun retreat at the Minglewood Lodge! The Minglewood Lodge is owned by Debbie Roberts who also owns The Quilted Moose quilt shop. It’s the perfect combination for quilters! Just think, you can sew all weekend and when you need a break you just drive a few miles to Debbie’s wonderful store. It just doesn’t get any better than that. Here’s some good news if you happen to be one of those people still trying to locate some Lily & Will fabric. Debbie actually has some left!

Hi Anne! Love all your patterns and projects. I have made many of them. My favorites in precursor are Charm Packs and Jelly Rolls. Also have made a couple of jelly roll quilts. So fun!

I love what you did with your quilt! I too am in love with the wool applique over the quilt base. I would definitely pick the fat quarter bundle. It offers the greatest amount of stash flexibility!

What a wonderful experience…thanks for sharing! That whole cloth quilt is truly amazing, especially knowing it was all done by hand (and often in low light). The log cabin has reminded me to get out my box of 1/2″ (finished) logs and work on mine.
Speaking of Lily and Will, I found a couple of FQs at a shop in a remote area I went to last week!

We are going to Bartlesville OK in a week to visit our daughter who is a nanny for a disabled girl. Then we head up to Omaha to see our daughter who is a student at Creighton — and she is the mommy of our dear grandson, Henry Creighton (named for his great great great great grandfather, not the school!). I have heard of Gretna and just looked it up. It’s outside of Omaha. I had wanted to go to Jo Morton’s retreat a couple of weeks ago down in Nebraska City but we weren’t in Omaha. Someday I’m going to make one of her retreats when were out visiting Prince Henry!
It sounds like you had a wonderful time and I’d also like to see the museum in Lincoln. Another thing to add to my quilting bucket list.
I’m packing up to go quilting with my friends up in South Bend. Kallies husband bought the house next door to them — it is just for her quilting and knitting! There are 6 of us who go there about 4x a year. We call it ND for “Next Door”, not Notre Dame.
We are going to ND this weekend for the last ever Michigan game!
