APQ Quilt Along

As I walk through my house searching for anything mauve or purple, I realize I don’t own a thing.  Maybe that’s why this quilt has been so much fun.  The colors are a refreshing change for me.

APQ I added two little birds to my applique basket.  They seem to go with the vintage feel of the quilt.

APQ Border

Borders are the hardest part of a quilt for me.  I debate over what fabric to use until I drive myself crazy.

This print looked too large,

Border and this one too small.

Border 2 I ended up picking this one…the scale is good and I love the print.

My quilt is finally at the quilter and it’s such a good feeling!

If you’d like to add the applique block to your quilt, you’ll find the pattern below:

The fabric I used is called Plum Sweet by Blackbird Designs.  The bundles are just arriving at quilt stores now and the yardage will ship in March.  I’ll show you the finished quilt after it’s quilted and bound!

I just wanted to say that out of all the quilts I have seen in this quilt along, yours is my absolute favorite. I love the vintage feel and the appliqué blocks. I don’t have purple in my house, but I love this BBD fabric line. I definitely am using yours for inspiration. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing it completed.

    Anne,
Very happy to see your quilt portions, Love the one border that you choice, however I would have liked the first one also. I like the larger contrast with the smaller blocks choices. Anyway it is your quilt and I will happily await the unveiling. I like it very much. I am not a purple lover and guess I did not realize it was mauve and purple. It looked maroonish to me on here. Anyway good job and I approve, ahahah. Now I think I could handle purple with your mauve. See I am growing still with my likes. Time to move on and enjoy new.
    Thanks for sharing with us.
How is your new pet faring in your busy household? I am so looking forward to the day when I can have a little pooch to share our pet kitty. We travel too much for a pooch at this time.
