Finally, a day for us…the book lovers of the world! You know who you are! You get lost in Barnes and Noble and forget the time. Sometimes you buy a book you can’t resist, only to find out when you get home that you already have it. You curl up with a good book every chance you get, and I bet you’ve even been known to read while you’re cooking dinner.
I love books so much, I turned our Living Room into a library! Bookcases line each side of the room, and comfy chairs are tucked into in each corner.
You’ll find everything in my library from the book that started me quilting years ago…
…to the Stitch Zakka book that I have a little project in…
I buy any book published by Country Living…
…and I collect every embroidery book I can find .
I love all of the “Material Obsession” books…
…and books by Harriet Hargrave are the best reference books ever!
Everyone in our family loves books.
Chelsea likes to read about Chihuahuas…
And she also loves books about Christmas Decorating!
She’s trying to understand Crazy Quilting so she studies every book she can find on the subject.
BOOK LOVERS DAY is sponsored by Moda Fabrics so hop on over to the Moda blog and you can enter to win 6 new books. You’ll also find links to other Moda designers, talking about books on their blogs! Then sit back, have a cup of tea and relax for a bit with your favorite book. Oh, and tell me what you’re reading now and later today I’ll give away two “Stitch Zakka” books!
It’s a great day when you can read a good book.
Anne
Oh, I loved this post!! :-D
My hapinness is that my home has plenty of space for fabrics and books, many books!
Now I’m reading again Twelve golden threads, of Aliske Webb, such great lessons to life we can learn from her quilt lessons… :-D

What a cutie Chelsea is. She has good taste in books.
Books! I love them! I have about 40 pages left in Winter of the World by Ken Follett, the second book in his Century Trilogy. I also listen to books on tape in the car, almost done with Sing you Home by Jody Picoult. And I got 2 new quilting books in the mail today- Friendship Triangles by Edyta Sitar and Applique and Embroidery by Janice Vaine. Lots of good reading ahead!
Thanks for sharing your inspirations. I have lots of books and can spend hours and hours just looking at books. It is fun to see the various inspirations. My first book was sampler quilt book by Georgia Bonesteel. It’s in the attic with the unfinished king size quilt.
Glad to meet another quilt blogger, who loves books and cats too.
I would love to read Stitch Zakka! Looks like a great collection of some talented people’s ideas. Currently I am reading A Quilting Life…wonderful ideas! Thanks for the give-away.
LOVE the book theme – who knew there was a national book lover’s day. currently i’m reading the revised fundamentals of caregiving. there is a fabulous sense of humor with the characters. puts a smile on your face but yet has a wonderful message. can’t wait to reach the end… well, maybe not. it’s sometimes bittersweet to reach the end of a good book.
THNX for the giveaway!
I am currently reading Maggie Sefton’s book “Cast On Kill Off”. It is a knitting mystery series. I also am a collector of books dealing with any type of fiber arts.

I have been “reading” Hexa go-go in hopes of getting cute ideas for the Hexies I love making!!!!
If I could talk my husband into it, I’d put bookshelves in every room. I finally made a spreadsheet of all the books I own. I add new books as I buy them and mark if I’ve read them, if they’re hardcover, paperback or ebook. I have a Nook that I bring when I travel as I often read a couple of books a week. On plane trips when I can’t have my Nook on, I bring quilt magazines.
Currently I’m reading some old Ellory Queen short story magazines I found in a box.
I have the Quilts!Quilts!Quilts book too. It taught me a lot of techniques.

Your choices look great! I agree with the Harriet Hargrave comment – her books are packed with information. I’m currently drooling over Rocco Dispirito’s Now Eat This Diet book (am I the only one here who reads cookbooks for entertainment?) but I can’t wait to get the new “Big Book of Nickel Quilts” by Pat Speth and Charlene Thode. I’ve pre-ordered it, and since I can’t have it right now, of course, I’m obsessed with it.
I am reading A Fine Romance by Susan Branch. She and her husband went on a 2 month trip visiting the English countryside and she kept a journal. It is full of photographs and her wonderful watercolor illustrations. The most exciting to read about were her visits to Hill Top Farm, home of Beatrix Potter and Jane Austen’s Chawton. It is a FABULOUS book!
I just finished “The Hotel On The Corner of Bitter & Sweet” and what a sweet, touching story it was!
I have three books going! The Grand Tour is about Agatha Christies tour around the world , has lits of great photos! The Vault of Walt has lots of great stories about all things Disney. Last but not least I’m re-reading Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series and just started Outlander. So many books, so little time!!!
Love your library. I’m reading “The Power of Now” – it’s very enlightening.

I do a lot of hand embroidery and love it…I’ve never seen the book you’re offering to give away, would be thrilled to win. Thank you for all your hard work and inspiration! A faithful follower..piecefully yours.

I love your library. I wish I could do the same to my living room. It truly is amazing how most everyone referred to Quilts, Quilts, Quilts. I got the pattern to my first quilt from it – the heart quilt. Then later I made the Gingerbread House quilt. Thank you for sharing.
I enjoy a good book too. I kind of chuckled because in the last pic Chelsea looks like myself when I start reading, a little bleary eyed and sleepy. Your library is lovely.

I’m in the middle of a Nora Roberts beach book, and I’ve been reading a book about crochet too. I love the shelves on both sides of the room idea – might have to steal that when we move in a few months!
Today I just finished a novel called A Different Sun by Elaine Orr and I’m going to start on Call the Midwife this evening. I also just read Goodnight Moon to my new grandson, does that count? It’s never too early to be read to.

Right now I am between books but I have promised my rail road loving nephew I’d make him a quilt from the Hobo Quilts book and he get’s to pick out what he wants the quilt to say. It’ll be our secret as to what the quilt says.
