Books

National Book Lover’s Day!

Finally,  a day for us…the book lovers of the world!   You know who you are!  You get lost in Barnes and Noble and forget the time.  Sometimes you buy a book you can’t resist, only to find out when you get home that you already have it.  You curl up with a good book every chance you get, and I bet you’ve even been known to read while you’re cooking dinner.

I love books so much, I turned our Living Room into a library!  Bookcases line each side of the room, and comfy chairs are tucked into in each corner.

You’ll find everything in my library from the book that started me quilting years ago…

…to the Stitch Zakka book that I have a little project in…

I buy any book published by Country Living…

…and I collect every embroidery book I can find .

I love all of the “Material Obsession” books…

…and books by Harriet Hargrave are the best reference books ever!

Everyone in our family loves books.

Chelsea likes to read about Chihuahuas…

And she also loves books about Christmas Decorating!

She’s trying to understand Crazy Quilting so she studies every book she can find on the subject.

BOOK LOVERS DAY is sponsored by Moda Fabrics so hop on over to the Moda blog and you can enter to win 6 new books.  You’ll also find links to other Moda designers, talking about books on their blogs!   Then sit back, have a cup of tea and relax for a bit with your favorite book.  Oh, and tell me  what you’re reading now and later today I’ll give away two “Stitch Zakka” books!

It’s a great day when you can read a good book.

Anne

I love your library. I wish I could do the same to my living room. It truly is amazing how most everyone referred to Quilts, Quilts, Quilts. I got the pattern to my first quilt from it – the heart quilt. Then later I made the Gingerbread House quilt. Thank you for sharing.

  • Robbin

I enjoy a good book too. I kind of chuckled because in the last pic Chelsea looks like myself when I start reading, a little bleary eyed and sleepy. Your library is lovely.

  • Therese Bocchino

Now I am reading & joining the blog hop of Tula Pink’s- 100 Modern Quilt Blocks- City Sampler. Learning & enjoying it so much!

I love books. I love it when you tell us about books. When you asked us for new authors or what books we are reading, I find it so informative. I picked up new authors to read from that list. Thanks for the pictures of you collection of books.

  • denise daniel

Wow! I love your library. I really like the shelves you built…might have to copy them for my workroom. :)

It’s hard to pick just one book that I like. I have learned a lot from Harriet Hargrave’s books. Plus this is funny — I have a quilting friend named Harriet and her husband is named Hargrave. !!!

Thank you for the chance to win.

    blessings, denise :D

Right now I am between books but I have promised my rail road loving nephew I’d make him a quilt from the Hobo Quilts book and he get’s to pick out what he wants the quilt to say. It’ll be our secret as to what the quilt says.

I do agree that Harriet Hargraves reference books (school books) are the best!

HI Anne, Indeed would love to visit into your living room library. Surely would love to proud owner of one of your give-aways. Indeed I just love a bookstore and never mind losing time there, just lock me up for the overnight.

Just finished reading “The Sons of Fortune,” by Jeffrey Archer. An old one I agree it is , however the best I have read in a long time. He is a great writer and this should be one up your alley. Let us know if you enjoyed it or have read it. I see he another one in bkstores now.
    chelsea is adorable.

I just received Judy Hopkins’s 501 Rotary Cut Quilt Blocks in the mail, so I’m poring over that, dreaming of the incredible sampler quilts I’ll make. (Right now my plan is to work on three at once. Crazy, no?) Thanks for sharing the book love and for the chance to add to my library.

  • Jill
