On My Reading List

I’ve had a really good weekend!    I finally got to watch the first few shows of Project Runway, Season 12.  I normally watch “drama” shows such as  “Suits”, “Covert Affairs”, “The Good Wife”, “The Mentalist”,” Elementary” etc. but I’m putting Project Runway right at the top with the rest of them!  Don’t know how I got into watching this show, but once I did I was hooked.  I record almost all of the shows I like, so I can watch them on weekends while I stitch or sew.  Are you hooked like me?

At night I like to read a good book, and on my reading list now is “The Cuckoo’s Calling” by Robert Galbraith, aka J.K. Rowling.   J.K. Rowling is just a great writer, no other way around it and I am loving this book.  I’m hoping she’ll have many, many more of these mysteries to come.  I can see this one being just the start of a series.  Her main character “Strike” is a loveable, down on his luck, private detective who I’d love to see in future books.   This is one book I’ll be sorry to finish reading.  I want it to go on and on!

The Cuckoo's Calling

Next on my reading list is a gift I just received in the mail.  Did you know we have a quilter among us who is also an author?   Deanna Dodson, writing as Julianna Deering has written “Rules of Murder”, the first in a series of books, and she sent me an advance copy.  I’m looking forward to reading her book!   It should be out in stores in just a few weeks.  Just think, when she’s not writing she’s quilting!  A great combo don’t you think?

Rules of Murder

I’ve also joined www.GoodReads.com. but I’m not sure what I’m doing.  I don’t have a single friend and don’t know if I should LOL.   Do any of you use GoodReads?  Is it worth the  time?  Let me know!

Towel update:  We finally have our Dunroven towels back in stock if you’ve been waiting for them.  These towels are so popular among crafters, that during certain times of year they are near impossible to find.  We’re going to try to keep a steady supply of these in stock, so you can make those last-minute gifts when you need to.  We have some cute patterns coming for these towels and we’re trying out a few other types of towels.   :>)

Have a good week everyone!

Back Soon!

I love, love, love Project Runway. It is definitely one of my favorites. DH watches it with me. I think he might not like for his friends to know he likes to watch it but then again, he might be okay with that!

I also love Covert Affairs, Necessary Roughness and Royal Pains.

When you mentioned the television show Suits, it reminded me of another great show on the USA network is Graceland. I was just looking for something new to watch and I stumbled onto it. Great show – lot of action.

    Hi Ann
I would recommend the Wool series. It’s caught on like wildfire for good reason. There three books; Wool, Shift and Dust is due out August 17th. The story really sucks you in, in the second book many questions are answered and Dust will provide an ending. What I like is the not knowing what will happen next. Fiction can be terribly easy to figure out, this one is different that way.

I’m on Goodreads but find I don’t use it. May I recommend Bookbub? Will and you daily Mails about interesting books – mostly e books. Even a lot of free ones! I have discovered a lot of authors that way.

BTW, have you bought the grey Ikea cart yet? I think it would look lovely with a lot of your fabrics! I, of course, have the turquoise one. After all, that is “my signature color!”

I use Goodreads as well. I love being able to keep a list of “to read” books. It is much better than the little scraps of paper I would write down titles or authors to read. I have even used the barcode scan option on my phone to add books to the list, very handy.

I’m a librarian, follower of your blog, and also on Goodreads. I love it and definitely think it’s worth your time. I’ll look for you and send you a friend request. Be on the lookout!

I am on Goodreads also. I find it useful to find books to read. It helps to put in as many books as you have read and liked and then it will start suggestion books for you. Kinda works like Pandora does for music!

We love project runway over here too – though it was better in the early days, it’s still fun to watch.

I love GoodReads! I get great ideas for what to read next from my friends. Love the newsletters that give me even more ideas. If you record all the books you read it is fun to go back and see – unless unlike me you have a good memory. i’ve even signed up for some of their challenges like reading 100 books in a year or reading through the alphabet – read a book whose title starts with each letter though I think q or x could be any word in the title.

I got hooked on Project Runway when I had three different foot surgeries. I don’t watch soaps or talk shows — couldn’t sew or read books while high on OxyContin. So I found Project Runway when Christian Siriano won (I predicted it in a lucid moment). I went on to watch the three previous seasons as Bravo had a PW marathon. However, once I was back on my feet, I really didn’t pick it up again as I had three teenagers at home back then.

I’m on Goodreads but like you, haven’t taken the time to figure it out — same with Pinterest. I’m just lucky to figure out Facebook!

Project Runway is one of my favorites too. What do you think of Mr Sustainable/Recycle? The designers make it so interesting.

I’m on Goodreads & mostly use it to see what friends are reading & what I might like to read next.

Oh, thanks for the mention. Actually the book is in some stores now and available on Amazon. Should be everywhere on August 1st.

I love to sew while watching movies and TV, too! I love to get a whole series on DVD or DVR and watch a season at one fell swoop. :D

I’ll see if I can find you on Goodreads!
