Pets are a source of continuous smiles for most of us, but taking photos of them is something we don’t do often enough. There are endless photo moments I don’t want to miss, so I’ve begun carrying my iPhone in my pocket so I can snap a picture anytime. For example…
…Camouflage…
Pumpkin knows the secrets of camouflage. Lay really still and curl up in a big wood bowl, no one will notice you. Well, almost no one. I don’t recommend this as a decorating idea, but Pumpkin sure thought it was great.
…and Chelsea’s been playing around with my iPhone taking self portraits. I hope she doesn’t start doing Instagram!
Karen Scott (one of my blog readers) shared these photos of her dog Sapphire, meeting the “Bitty Bunny” she just made. Seems to me it’s a case of one gentle soul meeting another gentle soul. I’m so glad she had her camera to capture this moment!
…and here’s Mooch dreaming of a pedicure I’m sure.
Our pets share our world more than anyone else, so get those cameras and phones out. Start capturing those priceless moments that make you smile. Pledge to take more pet photos and you’ll be so glad you did!
Sunday hugs to you and your pets!

Hello to you all, this post struck a cord with me and felt I had to comment. My other half little over a year ago sadly lost his furry friend Oscar his 10 year cat. The Sercumstance in which he lost is pet was not nice and lead to him making a choice to put him down . But from this came his new bi eyed boy blade a Siberian husky. Which he was able to pick from the litter . But from oscars passing when we went looking for photos we sadly could only find three . But we learnt from this and when blade was old enough to come home we started snapping and after blades first birthday and the Christmas that followed I gave my other half a scrap book of his pups first years journey . And he will never forget these years and always be able to flick threw . I looked threw this book befor giving it to him and saw an amazing change and all those little things he may have missed had we not took the pics
Thank you for this post and the loving memories I have of my pets and my bf’s
Yay! I was so glad to see your pet pics – especially of Pumpkin. I was wondering how he had settled in and it looks like he’s happy being an indoor kitty now, safe and sound. The bowl picture made me laugh – where there is a will there’s a way! He is a beauty, that is for sure. I love all of your pet posts. They really do make a house a home :)
I saw on your post above you are hooked on Project Runway – it’s a great show! I have loved it for years. Also, if you like dramas, give Downton Abbey a try. It lives up to the hype. We have also been hooked on Mad Men (although Season Six was not my favorite). I’m like you. It’s great to be able to record things and enjoy them during sewing time. Have a great day!
Awww, they are all absolute darlings! Chelsea’s gorgeous self photo really made me smile too – I often find Pip, our kitty cuddling up to the phone, I’m convinced she’s got a Twitter account :)
Hugs to you and your pets x x
Oh yes, I definitely need to take more pictures of my two cairn terriers. The puppy is already over a year old … she needs more camera time. Your fur babies are lovely and have such expressive faces!
I always enjoy it when you share photos of your dear friends, but I must admit it is Mooch who owns my heart. She reminds me of my Tinker, my first cat when I was a little girl. I hope her health has improved.
Hi Anne,
Yes pet photos are fab. We recently brought into our home Lenny the mini dachshund. He is adorable, cheeky and those baby teeth are needle sharp. (I’m sure he could sew using them!) He is now 13 weeks old, still a baby and I will forward a photo as soon as I can.
I hope everyones family memebrs are well, two and four leg varieties.
Warmest wishes
Anne
Aww, I love cute pet pictures…EXCEPT when pets are on tables or kitchen counters. Just creeps me out. Please tell me you NEVER use that wooden bowl for food! I dont care
how much you wash it out :-/
Oh my gosh Bernie, you don’t have to worry. That’s a vintage wood dough bowl I purchased on Ebay and now I fill it with ornaments at Christmas, eggs at Easter etc.
I would never use it for food. No, Pumpkin is not allowed in the center of my dining room table, but he sometimes has a mind of his own and is sneaky. :>)

thanks for posting this I love pet pictures and love sharing them with everyone else — rarely do i put up a blog post that doesn’t feature a critter. One of my kitties likes to hid in piles of fabric and i found him this morning in the guild’s stash fabric — not on the top mind you but about 3 layers deep in a little nest and missed the photo because the phone was still on the charger.
Looks like Pumpkin found the perfect home with you. And you are so right, we love our dog more than anything and don’t take near enough photo’s. Today I got to bring my German Shepherd to work with me :)) I work in a office so I normally don’t bring her with me. Only thing better would to be at home sewing with her laying next to me.
I’ve been wondering about Pumpkin, so glad he is doing great and very much at home, obviously! Love your pet photos….
Wonderful photos! What is it about pet pictures that always makes us smile? I was reminded, though, that I still haven’t made my Mooch quilt!
I love your pet pics. It is so true we forget to capture everyday stuff. For the last two weeks I have been keeping my camera handy and snapping my cat, my hubby, the neighbour’s cat visiting wildlife and the weather every day. It has been such fun and I hope I can keep it up. Your pumpkin looks so cute.

Mooch looks just like my very own quilt tester. She gets so tuckered out from testing my quilts.
Mooch looks like my cat! She’s also my quilt tester. Look these photos with my cat testing my quilts:

So happy to see that Pumpkin seems to be content as an indoor cat now! Hope you have lots of pics of the Bitsy Button. I know you miss her.
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing pet photography! I only have a smart phone and I am not having much luck with the photos! ;-( As always LOVE your blog and website. Jeanne in MO
Tell me about pet camouflage! My cat Lara is grey and tan with a little bit white around her mouth. When she’s laying on the pavement you almost can’t spot her.
Oh, and pets are the best decor ever;-)
Hugs to your pets as well, and I’m just so happy that you kept Pumpkin. He was meant to be in your home!
Maggie sends her greetings!
Awww’ they are treasures. We had two new beagles join our family last week. They were removed from a puppy mill and had been used as breeders. They are terribly damaged and we have a long road ahead. I’ll spare you the gory details but they are here and safe. We are hoping that with love and time they will learn trust and one day be able to experience running outside and maybe even bark again.
Awww, Pumpkin looks like my Petie!
Funny enough, my sister just came over and took a bunch of pictures of him yesterday. And he was wearing a flowered straw hat, too. He’s evidently secure in his manhood and didn’t object too much. He did, however, try to eat the hat. :)
