Michelle lives in Portland

Project Runway

Do you watch Project Runway?  I tape all the shows just so I don’t miss one.  If you were cheering for Michelle when she won Project Runway, you are not alone, and guess what?  She lives in Portland, right where quilt market is going to be (ok, maybe not right where quilt market is, but I’m sure she’s close by).  I would love, love, love to meet her!  She should be an inspiration to all of us because she picked herself up when she was down and came out on top.

Holly Hill

Also very near Portland is a fabulous quilt shop called Holly Hill.  It’s a must see stop if you’re going to Portland.  If anyone is still looking for my “Raining Cats & Dogs” quilt kit, Holly Hill has it.  Say I sent you, and get 10% off!  If you go, give Brian and big hug for me!

Garden Roses

Pink Vase

If you remember a few posts back, I showed you a photo of my pink depression glass vase filled with garden roses.  So many of you emailed to ask where I got the vase.  Well I’ve been searching for it on the internet and can’t find anything similar.  I purchased it years ago from Gooseberry Patch, but time has moved on and they no longer sell all the products they used to have.  I loved to shop Gooseberry Patch and I was  disappointed to find just cookbooks and recipes available.  I’ve gotten some great buys from them, and if I lined everything up and took photos you’d all say “I want that too!”.

Well, I wasn’t going to give up, so I’ve been searching eBay and  found 2 vases.  They are on their way to Bunny Hill!  When they arrive I’m going to do a vase giveaway. (No not in this post, but maybe by the end of the week so check back).    Who knows, maybe you can win one!

I’m going to be super careful with my own pink vase since I know how hard they are to find.  I fill mine with my garden roses to enjoy in the studio.  It’s the perfect vase a “frog” style top.

In my vase now

    Love the Pink Glass.

I wish that I could go to the Quilt show in Oregon! I’ll have to wait until the fall to visit our local PIQF…

I adore Heidi Klum but I’ve never watched the show. How did that happen? ;p Anywho, the vase is beautiful! Hope you get to meet the PR winner while in Oregon. Pout until someone makes it happen for you! ;p

Oh how I wish I lived near Portland! I wonder, can consumers go to quilt market or does one have to be a vendor? Also, your vase is awesome! How kind of you to search for and then share a couple. Please tell what kind of roses those are. They are heavenly!

Your roses are just lovely, Anne! I too was very surprised to discover that Gooseberry Patch seems to be just recipes, cookbooks, etc. I remember first ordering from them way back in the mid 70’s when I was a new bride trying to find affordable “country” items to decorate with on a shoestring budget! I love to see how topics like that, as well as quilt shops, collecting, etc. bind us all together. Thank you for your blog, Anne!

Your little pink vase looks like something that a place called Tender Heart Treasures Ltd. used to carry. They’re no longer in business unfortunately, but you might want to check http://www.victoriantradingco.com from time to time. They have some mercury bunnies there that might be of special interest to you. Item #i15869 to be exact. I took a quick look and didn’t see anything pink like your vase but there were some tempting amethyst pieces that might just have to travel my way.

I never miss Project Runway but being older, I was rooting for Daniel. Don’t you wish you could see the inside of their garments? My all time favorite contestant was Christian Siriano but also lke Laura Bennett and Lee Ann Marshall. I think Christian is a genius. The vase is goreous as are the beautiful roses. I miss having a garden now that I live in an apartment. I have two beautiful vases, one a rose bowl in cranberry glass the the other a bud vase, almost the same color as the rose bowl but without the hint of gold – maybe a little more amethyst than cranberry. I would like a third to even out the display. Roses and peonies are my very favorites. I miss Gooseberry Hill too, especially their patternz.

Anne, I have a reproduction pink vase like yours with a frog cover and still love it. I’ll be watching for your giveaway post! Oh, and I was really happy to see Michelle win. She was like The Little Engine That Could :)

I, too, have so many things from Gooseberry! I still haven’t forgiven Paul for breaking the dome of my pink cake stand I bought ay Gooseberry. They used to have the greatest sales! When I was the president of the swim club, we used to sell items from Gooseberry. We had some wonderful kitchen items in addition to the cookbooks to sell and we made quite a lot in sales because the merchandise was unlike all of the cookie dough or candle sales. Like you, I was sad to see they no longer sold kitchen and home decorations. I’ll be looking for the giveaway….I can never have too much pink glassware or vases!

I got hooked on Project Runway one winter when I had so many foot surgeries. When you are taking pain meds, I found I couldn’t read anything or sew anything. So they re-ran all five seasons — and I watched them all. That was the year Christian Soriano (that’s fierce!) won — and I had predicted it! He was my favorite designer.

Since then I got out of the habit of watching it. I’ll have to check it out again!

Someday I hope to visit Portland! Enjoy and send us pictures!!!
