Good Books to Read

I love to curl up with a good mystery book and I’ve been reading some really good ones lately.

To those of you who told me about the J.D. Robb books,  I can’t thank you enough.  The only problem is, now I’m addicted.  I’ve read them ALL and I can’t wait for new ones.  When I hear she has a new book coming out, I schedule it into my calendar so I won’t forget.  I was so excited when I saw her latest book, Calculated in Death!   I wasn’t disappointed.  It’s a good book and worth reading.  Give me more books with her main character, Eve Dallas,  and I’ll be so happy.

If you’re a Lisa Gardner fan she has a great new book out called Touch and Go.  This one kept me riveted on the pages and I couldn’t put it down.  I read it over a weekend.  I love her books and I rate Touch and Go among her best.   The story grabs you and you have to keep reading to find out what’s going to happen.   It’s right up there with The Perfect Husband, also by Lisa Gardner.

Next, I read James Patterson’s new book, Alex Cross, Run.  Not one of my favorites because some of James Patterson’s books are so “out there”.  Even so, I still find myself reading them because I like the Alex Cross character, just not all the story plots.

And finally, I’m into another series that I just love!  I’m reading all the Maisie Dobbs books by Jacqueline Winspear.   I started with the first one last week, printed out a list so I could go in order,  and now I’m reading the third book.   Seven more to, go so if you happen to run into Jacqueline (she lives in California I think), please don’t be afraid to beg her for more books.  Don’t you love it when you find a series so good, you can’t wait for more?   I was just on Jacqueline Winspear’s Facebook page and read that March is Maisie Dobb’s month!  Jacqueline just published her 10th book in this series and she’s also started a blog called Maisie Dobbs.  I’m going to love reading the rest of the Maisie Dobb’s books!

I’ll be back tomorrow to tell you about a new quilting book by Kristyne Czepuryk, called S is for Stitch.   I love everything she does so be sure and check out her blog, Pretty by Hand.

Happy Reading everyone!

Ooh I love it when you do book recommendations Anne! I love a good mystery and I get so many good ideas from you and your commenters. I learned of Tanna French from a quilter’s blog about good reads, can’t remember whose. Have you tried her books? She’s an Irish author; mysteries set in Dublin.

So glad you finally started the Maise Dobbs books. I love them and can’t wait for the next one to come out. I always have a book going but will interupt and start a new Maise book.

I would like to recommend to you the Redemption series by Karen Kingsbury.
I think you would enjoy reading these. No mystery, but such good read, you just can’t seem to put them down.

When I find an author’s series that I want to read, I always start with the first book in that series. I just finished the first book in the China Bayles mystery series, Thyme of Death, by Susan Wittig Alberts. Now, it’s on to the next one. When I’m quilting, I listen to books on CD. I’ve listened to all four of Kate Morton’s books that way and many, many more. Thank you for you book recommendations.

Another good one is And When She Was Good by Laura Lippman. And I just finished the newest Flavia de Luce by Alan Bradley, Speaking From Among The Bones. The newest Maisie Dobbs is on my reading list
