“I Love Candy” Moda Blog Hop

Hi everyone!   Welcome to the Moda Blog Hop and Bunny Hill.  When Chelsea heard this was about our hometown and Moda Candy she got so excited!   She begged me to let her show you around and there’s no keeping that dog out of things when she decides she wants in.  She’s been after the “Candy” I’ve had stashed for my giveaway ever since I brought it home.  Maybe she’ll forget the “Candy” if I let her show you around.

We live in the San Francisco Bay area in a town called Discovery Bay.  No one really knows where Discovery Bay is except for the 13,000 that live here.   It’s not even a an official city yet but we like it that way.  If you drive in the San Francisco Bay area you are guaranteed to find freeways filled with traffic but Discovery Bay doesn’t have a freeway.   We  drive through country roads where the only traffic is created by driving behind a slow tractor on a 2 lane road.

OK Chelsea, show them where we live!

Here’s a map of the San Francisco Bay area and Discovery Bay.  Wait!  I think Chelsea’s standing on our house!  Chelsea move over please!

At one end of town you’ll find waterways…inlets coming in off the River Delta with houses lining the waterways. You can walk out your back door, jump in and swim because these inlets are fresh water.   This is only a few blocks from our house but poor Chelsea hates to swim so we try to stay away from this area. Being the brave dog she is, she agreed to jump in just for the purpose of this picture.

…At the other end of town you’ll find acres of farmland.

Chelsea loves to visit the fruit orchards and vegetable stands.  She’s really into chasing birds healthy eating.

Chelsea get out of those onions!  (…sorry but she likes to pick out her own veggies.)

Bunny Hill is located inside my Discovery Bay home.  The studio is on the upper floor of my house so it’s not open to the public.   Chelsea’s been trying to get me to open a store but I know her reasons are a bit one sided…more attention.    She gets enough attention already.  She sleeps in a little drawer right by my desk and she get pets from everyone all day long.

She’s active in my design work and often puts in her 2 cents worth when I’m designing.

She personally checks my fabric when it arrives…gives it the sniff test to see if it passes.

Yesterday when I got out the Moda Candy, Chelsea was so excited!   She’s been watching these little bundles ever since I brought them home!  I can’t blame her, just look at these cute little packages of 2 1/2″ squares of fabric.  They are perfect for making a dog bed doll quilt, miniature wall quilt, table topper, pincushions, small totes…you get the idea.

If Chelsea will give up some of this “Candy” you could win a few to make a cute miniature quilt like this one!

Don’t worry, I’ll make her part with some Candy and we’ll add it to our giveaway.

You’ll find the FREE pattern for this Candy quilt below:

Sweet Lily

So what are we giving away?   One of you is going to win this beautiful bundle of WINDSOR LANE and three of you are going to win some Windsor Lane Moda Candy to make my Sweet Lily quilt.  We’ll announce the winners on September 15th so be sure and check back.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this blog post telling me where you live and the names of your pets if you have any!

Love the blog hop and your patterns. I live in Brookhaven, MS – very hot and humid now, so plenty of time to check out all the projects and do some sewing. I am sorry to say that our Australian terrier, Scruffy, is no longer with us, but never forgotten – still cry when I look at pictures.

Thanks for the intro to your town – looks lovely and away from all the hussle and bussle. I live in Kelowna BC, Canada and have a dog as well. She’s a gorgeous Portugese Water Dog – with one black eye patch and one white eye patch.
Thanks for a chance at your giveaway.

I live in Fairfield, CA (not too far from Discovery Bay) with my family and our Standard Schnauzer Roxie and 2 Siamese kitties, Buster and Ella. I love the Windsor Lane collection – it is so pretty!

our only pets right now are two goldfish, jewel and opal. I have three kids under 6, so pets (especially potty training pets!) are out of the question right now. I love this beautiful line! Thanks.

I live in a High Wycombe, UK. It is not an attractive town as most of the attractive bits were modernised in the 1960’s. Though, if one looks above the shop fronts, traces of the original Georgian town can be seen.
And there are a lot of really pretty villages within a few miles.

I forgot to say that we do not have a pet, but get wonderful birds visiting the garden. At the moment a Bullfinch is drinking at the bird water-fountain.

Our cat Nutmeg is one of those snotty, I don’t need people, kind of cats. At least she was until she got old. Now at 15 she has to make up for a lifetime of “please scratch my ears”. It is actualy quite annoying especially to my husband. Catsm you never know what kind you will get until they grow up. Crazy!

They are generally afraid of dogs, but think Chelsea looks friendly and enjoyed taking the tour with her.

I live in Cardwell, Montana and we have several pets! Dogs – Patches the lab/springer spaniel and Trudy the amazing Cockapoo. Cats – Daisy because she looks like the skink from Bambi and Bubba because he is so small he needed a tough sounding name. Horses – Hazel, Julie and Only. Plus we have a lot of guest bears, deer, and wild turkeys in our neighborhood! The amazing side of living in the mountains!

Chelsea did a great job showing us around town. If she were to visit my home, Frisco Tx, she could play with my two dogs….Rae and Hope. Then she could hunt down the cats…I doubt they would come out and play, but you never know. Button and Took might surprise me.

    Thanks for the give away.

I am currently living in a tiny town in SC called Piedmont. I have two dogs, a corgi named Lily and a springer spaniel named Miley.

We live in Cleveland, OH but how I long to move to the suburbs…Cleveland is way to busy for me. Not to mention we need a much bigger house! We have three dogs about 5 times the size of yours: Bo, Sasha and Bailey-Bear and one 3-pawed cat named Tango (who gets around pretty well considering she was born with only 3 paws).

  • Ruth Chow

I live in Atlanta and am sad to report I have no pets. I used to live in East San Francisco Bay and had heard of Discovery Bay but never went or saw pictures. Thanks for sharing!

  • Judy

Shadow’s is our female Bermeise cat. My husband and I have lived herein Sonora, CA. We are called the foothills. It used to be a small city but that has changed since more people are getting out of the Bay Area to move here to retire. My Mom and my sister live in Jamestown which is about 3 miles away. Shadow likes to help quilt by laying on top of the fabric and giving her approval. She even has her own quilt but she still has to help. She certainly would approve of the Sweet Lily Quilt. Just need to win some Windsor Lane fabric. Thank you for the chance to win and joining in the ModA Blog Hop.

I live in Evanston, Illinois, which is the first suburb north of Chicago. Evanston borders Lake Michigan to the east, much to the enjoyment of my chocolate lab, Orson. He LOVES swimming so we’re at the wonderful dog beach here as much as possible.
