“I Love Candy” Moda Blog Hop

Hi everyone!   Welcome to the Moda Blog Hop and Bunny Hill.  When Chelsea heard this was about our hometown and Moda Candy she got so excited!   She begged me to let her show you around and there’s no keeping that dog out of things when she decides she wants in.  She’s been after the “Candy” I’ve had stashed for my giveaway ever since I brought it home.  Maybe she’ll forget the “Candy” if I let her show you around.

We live in the San Francisco Bay area in a town called Discovery Bay.  No one really knows where Discovery Bay is except for the 13,000 that live here.   It’s not even a an official city yet but we like it that way.  If you drive in the San Francisco Bay area you are guaranteed to find freeways filled with traffic but Discovery Bay doesn’t have a freeway.   We  drive through country roads where the only traffic is created by driving behind a slow tractor on a 2 lane road.

OK Chelsea, show them where we live!

Here’s a map of the San Francisco Bay area and Discovery Bay.  Wait!  I think Chelsea’s standing on our house!  Chelsea move over please!

At one end of town you’ll find waterways…inlets coming in off the River Delta with houses lining the waterways. You can walk out your back door, jump in and swim because these inlets are fresh water.   This is only a few blocks from our house but poor Chelsea hates to swim so we try to stay away from this area. Being the brave dog she is, she agreed to jump in just for the purpose of this picture.

…At the other end of town you’ll find acres of farmland.

Chelsea loves to visit the fruit orchards and vegetable stands.  She’s really into chasing birds healthy eating.

Chelsea get out of those onions!  (…sorry but she likes to pick out her own veggies.)

Bunny Hill is located inside my Discovery Bay home.  The studio is on the upper floor of my house so it’s not open to the public.   Chelsea’s been trying to get me to open a store but I know her reasons are a bit one sided…more attention.    She gets enough attention already.  She sleeps in a little drawer right by my desk and she get pets from everyone all day long.

She’s active in my design work and often puts in her 2 cents worth when I’m designing.

She personally checks my fabric when it arrives…gives it the sniff test to see if it passes.

Yesterday when I got out the Moda Candy, Chelsea was so excited!   She’s been watching these little bundles ever since I brought them home!  I can’t blame her, just look at these cute little packages of 2 1/2″ squares of fabric.  They are perfect for making a dog bed doll quilt, miniature wall quilt, table topper, pincushions, small totes…you get the idea.

If Chelsea will give up some of this “Candy” you could win a few to make a cute miniature quilt like this one!

Don’t worry, I’ll make her part with some Candy and we’ll add it to our giveaway.

You’ll find the FREE pattern for this Candy quilt below:

Sweet Lily

So what are we giving away?   One of you is going to win this beautiful bundle of WINDSOR LANE and three of you are going to win some Windsor Lane Moda Candy to make my Sweet Lily quilt.  We’ll announce the winners on September 15th so be sure and check back.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this blog post telling me where you live and the names of your pets if you have any!

I live in Emory, TX and we have one special border collie/brittany spaniel named Annie. When Annie first arrived (just over a year ago), she was drawn to the fabric in my studio. Anything on the floor would disappear and re-appear in the house under a pillow or beside the chair. I had to teach her not to rip the batting off of the roll (I need it to place in the quilts without holes in it). She has out grown some of the earlier tendencies, but occassionally has a set back. Thanks for the bundle offer, I hope I win.

I’m in Urbandale, Iowa for now. My little buddy is Ginger. She is a golden retriever mix and looks like a mini Golden. She’s my buddy and follows me everywhere, working in the office, down to the sewing room, across the room, etc! She can’t hear these days and doesn’t want to miss any fun, so she is at my feet all day, which is a great thing if you ask me! It’s great to be loved!

I’m Diane from Tiffin, IA. We have a wonderful 9 year old male Pomeranian named Teddy Bear. He’s just that, sooo sweet and cuddly and loves it if I take him everywhere I go. We also have a 3 year old long haired black cat named Ruckus. He used to live at our business, however a recent serious injury caused the need to keep him at home to rehab and he’s never left. I found quickly that kitties love sewing rooms! Teddy’s not a huge fan of his new roommate but he’s getting better. Meanwhile Ruckus’ old roommate, Kiwi, an 11 year old quaker parrot is really confused! She was taught as a joke before Ruckus to say “Where’s the kitty?”, “Meow, meow”, and “Here kitty kitty!” Then there was a kitty and kitty would sleep on the top of her cage. We later found after Teddy was spending time at the shop that she would bark like the dog. Now she’s a bit lonely as they’re all in the house without her. But she’ll still tell you you’re silly or that she’s spoiled and then laugh at herself. Or even ask you if you want to cuddle.
Thank you for the bundle offer. The fabric is gorgeous!

my home away from home is just down the river in a place called Wetherbee Lake. I met my husband there and we make a trip to discovery Bay about once a year. We used to go down Grantline but they have blocked that off so we come by way of the Deep Water Channel and Stockton. I met my husband at this special place 54 years ago when i was 12 and he was 15. We grew up with a Huck Finn lifestyle meandering along the river. We raised 4 kids along the river and now have 5 grandsons we are introducing to this special place. In our 45 years of marriage we have had two dogs, Buppies lived for 16 years and Buster for 17. We are babysitting our grand-dog, a beautiful golden retriever named KNOX. thank you for your lovely website, tutorials, great blog and free patterns. you have found your gift! E

Thanks for everything you do and keep inspiring all of us.

Hi! That bundle of fabric… it’s given me a longing. That’s never happened before. Anyhoo, something peaceful and homey about it! Beautiful!

Bakersfield, CA is where I live, where I grew up, and I’m glad we finally moved back so that I got to raise our three kids here. The week we moved back our almost-human cat that was so much fun and loved to ‘hug’ got bitten by a baby bat and had to be put to sleep. I cried so hard when they came to pick her up, that I couldn’t even talk. But now, I have a German Shepherd Coyote. Yep, mom was the Shepherd, dad was a wild one!!! Mika is a love bug!!!! :)

I live in West Jordan, Utah – which is a suburb of Salt Lake City. I had a dog for 16 years, his name was Klondike, but just last week we got really sick and we had to put him down :( He was a good dog, very partial to our family. I’m hoping that’s a nice way to say that he didn’t really like anybody but his family. Beautiful fabric, thanks for the chance.
