Desperately seeking mouse
Chelsea’s Mouse
Years ago I bought this little knit mouse when Martha Stewart had her website. We’ve had it for years and it’s become Chelsea’s very favorite dog toy. She adores this mouse and every time someone comes to visit she runs to grab it and show it off. She carries it around with her, watches over it in her bed and generally treats it like her baby.
So you know what’s coming…the mouse is missing. We’ve looked everywhere, under beds, furniture, in the couches and chairs…we just can’t find it. I’m afraid it may have been sucked up in the vacuum by accident. I’m sending out a plea…does anyone know where I can get another mouse similar to this one? If you see any when you’re out and about please let me know. It’s a simple knitted mouse that’s stuffed and just the right size for her to carry around.
Now when someone stops by, she doesn’t know what to grab to show them. It’s sad to watch! I’ve done Google searches for “knitted mouse” and the only thing I can find are directions to knit my own. I haven’t knitted in years so that’s not an option. If one of you happen to know how to knit I’d be happy to trade a block of the month pattern for a mouse. HELP!

I do not have a pet but seeing the amazing amount of help you receive I think I should re-consider (my quilting can definitely use help!)

Here’s another Etsy mouse — I buy on Etsy all the time and haven’t yet had a bad experience. Good Luck!

OMG Chelsea is so, so cute. We have a gorgeus ragdoll cat named Celia and a rescue cocker spaniel, Baxter. We live in Fairfax, VA right outside of Washington DC.
Thanks for the nice giveaway!

I have a couple of spare knitted mice I’d be happy to send to Chelsea if you can let me know her mailing address? With my menagerie I know how you feel when they lose their favorites!

Hi Anne- I guess we’re sorta neighbors- I live in Burlingame, near the SF airport. Your picture of Discovery Bay is gorgeous – I’ve heard of your community, but haven’t visited there. Chelsea and her mouse remind me of my 3 felines who carry around fish that I made for them and included a little catnip inside. Your little “candy” treats would make a great doll quilt for my niece’s little girl who will be 3 next month. Thanks for the chance to win some fun fabric-I love the colors.

Your Bunny Hill local is beautiful.I did not know that this beautiful place exsisted .I’ve heard of the delta region but i had no idea it was so close to san Fran.
I have a cat named “zimmie”” and she is always investigating my stash. Just like your pet. She would be on the map, quilt pattern and squirreled way under my fabric. What joy they bring to our live’s.I love the bunny Hill pattern’s.

I have small dogs and they just love “Lil Pals” 84207, the dog and rabbit fit perfectly in their little mouths! Maybe this will suffice until you can get another knitted mouse. Good luck!

My husband and I live in Omaha, Nebraska with our 18 yr old tabby, Sara, who has decided in her dotage that she wants to have a personal spa and I am her 24 hour attendant. Showers, baths, towel fluff massages and then a nap in the sunshine…several times a day. What a life!

Awww, that is so sad! There is nothing like a favorite stuffy! Our dog had Teddy and he treasures it. Good luck finding the original or a new one!
Janet
My dog, Apolo, likes to hide his favorite toys, like burying a bone. One of his secret spots is between the back of the couch and the front window, but it took us forever to find it! And he forgets he hides stuff there! Maybe your dog has a secret stash, too!
Marcia
Asses she looks like that mouse was made for her. Just the perfect size.
Elaine
I think you will end of with more mice than you know what to do with! Lucky Chelsea! And lucky you for having so many friends.

Try Pet Smart on-line. They have quite a few of Martha Stewart’s knitted toys for dogs.

I thought I’d check out Petsmart.com because that mouse appears to be the size of a cat toy and I thought I had seen some, plus Martha Stewart is now into the pet world with toys and stuff too. I did not find anything that appears to be exactly the same but one is made with yarn fibers so I thought MAYBE it’s the texture in his mouth that he loves so much.
Here is the link for that one although you’d have to disarm the wind up portion possibly.

I also saw these adorable little plush mice

Next I did a search for “Knit Toy Mouse” and got this one that looked interesting. Do you know anyone that knits? This appears to be almost identical in some of those in that pile they’ve shown on that page. But, there is a pattern to use and make one also if you know of anyone who does knit.

Good luck.

I’d be happy to knit one, too, if you need it!

Don’t you just love the way your reader’s respond to your plea for help? We all love Chelsea (and allow your other due babies!!) so I think any of us would do what we can to help. You have so many wonderful suggestions – please let us know the outcome. We all want Chelsea to be a happy, happy girl.
I’m so looking forward to the Moda blog hop – what fun!!!

Hi : If you go to http://www.etsy.com and type knitted mouse into the search engine you will find
tons of knitted mousie’s . I hope you find one.
Tam
Have you emptied the vacuum cleaner bag? It would certainly be worth the effort! Please keep searching; a replacement won’t be the same.
Our recently deceased 17-year-old cat adopted a stuffed animal when he was eight weeks old. He carried Jesse’s Teddy around constantly, slept with it, jumped up on tables with it, and waited anxiously when it was in the washer and dryer.
Hoping for the best, Tam
Miss Jean
Looks like you are getting lots of help! That’s because we all love Chelsea. If I was still back there I’d come over and help look. If I lose something I do not stop until it’s found. I HATE losing stuff.
Can’t wait for the blog hop!
Sandie
This is a link to one on ETSY that is stuffed with catnip, but the artist will do custom orders, and not include it if you prefer. $7.95 good luck!

Dear Chelsea,
A sweet little green knitted mouse will be flying over from Australia tomorrow, as soon as the post office opens, Love Melody ( ps I’ll put a picture on my tomorrows blog post.)

Add my name to the list who would be happy to knit Chelsea a mouse! My pekingese has a favorite toy that is a fox (unstuffed). It is dirty and smelly and she guards it with her life. The nastier the better as far as she is concerned! Let me know if you still need one or if you have been flooded with mice! Yikes!!

Se você me mandar um link por Email eu posso tricotar e enviar para você sem custos adicionais,eu te adoro.Beijos.

Under Martha Stewart pet gifts – link here
http://www.marthastewart.com/275311/gifts-for-pets-and-pet-lovers/@center/307035/santas-workshop#/175285
it shows how to make a mouse. If you have an old sweater or knitted sock you could make one.
Poor Chelsea, I do hope you find her favorite one though. I know how it feels when they lose their favorite toy. My Chihuahua loves the stuffed McDonalds toy of Jack from Pirates of the Caribean. It was lost for months and when we finally found it she was the happiest little girl ever !
Hildy
I found a knitted mouse on etsy very similar to yours:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/89868040/handmade-knitted-mouse?ref=sr_gallery_13&ga_search_query=knitted+mouse&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=ZZ&ga_min=0&ga_max=0&ga_search_type=all
IT’s 8$ + 3$ shipping, sounds good to me!
I hate kniiting because I was forced to do it in school!
Hope Chelsea has a new mouse soon! Hildy

Hi Anne,
Check out this link on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/search?q=knitted%20mouse%20cat%20toy&order=most_relevant&view_type=gallery&ship_to=ZZ&min=0&max=0
Maybe there will be one that is similar to Chelsea’s missing mouse. I’ve had great luck ordering off of Etsy. You can even send requests to people and a picture of Chelsea’s mouse. Someone might be able to copy it. Good luck!
