Quilts

Playing with color

Playing around with color.  Isn’t that what we love about quilting?  I just finished teaching my Merry, Merry Snowmen class at Thimble Creek, our local quilt shop.  I had the best group of ladies ever.  They may not realize it but watching them inspired me!

Just look at these beauties that came out of my class!

I love this combination of red, aqua, grey and a touch of beige!   From William Morris prints to Bunny Hill checks, this quilt has it all!  See the aqua truck?  My husband owned one just like it years ago in the same beautiful shade of Aqua.   I don’t dare show him this picture. He’s always been sorry he sold that truck.

Or maybe green and grey will suit your fancy?   This was Anita’s very first applique quilt!  She selected modern colors giving it a fresh new look.

Chickie and Sandra who work at Thimble Creek, were picking out fabric for another quilt.    Just look at this Dresden block…

Chickie made the block and then Sandra added her smaller block to the top just to see how it would look.  Does it give you any ideas?

Chickie showed me her block on this yummy brown dot.  Covered buttons, yo yo’s and linen…I’m in love!

Color, isn’t it wonderful to see what it can do?

    Hi, Anne,
I love seeing what others create and am constantly inspired by fresh color combos or seeing buttons and yo-yos used in unexpected ways. These are beautiful…you must be thrilled each time you see one of your patterns come to life. My local shop is doing your Merry, Merry Snowmen quilt as a BOM, and they’re just wrapping up Raining Cats & Dogs and Tiny Town (my personal fave). Their workroom is beginning to look like a division of Bunny Hill! Note: My hubby used to have a truck in that color, too :)
