Scrappy Plates
If you’ve followed along you should have your Scrappy Plate Quilt almost finished! Can you believe how easy it was? I’ve wanted to make a Dresden quilt forever and I’ve put it off because it looked like so much work. Once I tried the Dresden ruler I knew I was hooked. The ruler really makes it easy! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful time making your own quilt. Will you add a scallop or keep the border plain? Decisions, decisions! To all of my readers who suggested books to read in my last post, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I was so excited to read all of your comments and I now have a book list a mile long! So that you’ll also be able to refer back to the “share your reads” blog post, I’ve started a new category on my side bar called “Books To Read”. You’ll find the post there.
So what book did I decide to start with? I chose the “In Death” series by J.D. Robb that so many of you suggested. I’m loving the first book in the series and can’t wait for more. Thanks to you so many books are calling my name. :>)

I had never made a dresden before but your instructions were easy to follow and I now have my very own just waiting for the quilting. I’ve enjoyed sewing this as much as anything I’ve ever made. Hi Anne, love the quilt I think it could be a favorite of mine. I haven’t started yet because life is interfering right now but it’s on my list. I especially love the scalloped polka dot border.

I may say this about each and every quilt that you’ve done, but this Dresdan Plate quilt is maybe the cutest quilt ever. (maybe I’m fickle and just love the latest – ‘cuz I love them all!). I love your quilt, Anne, LOVE those colors and dots! I’ve gotten behind but intend to finish…such is life. Working on two different Dresden quilts (one is a UFO), and since that one will have a scalloped border, I haven’t decided about the border for the current one. I’m looking fwd to seeing how the group’s quilts come together, what an inspiring group of quilters!

Love the Dresden Plates you have done. Thank you for the instructions and all. I have put it on my “to do” list. The J D Robb series is a favorite of mine. Be sure you read them from the beginning so you will have a good feel for all of the characters. The main characters and all of the “supporting cast” are fleshed out as the series goes along.

Luv your darling polka dot Dresden!! Thanks so much for the opportunity to try a new quilt style. I have had my top all done but made my Lenten project one of finishing some UFOs. I finished 5 quilts! I tried to post them all on our flikr page but had no luck. I cant wait to make more dresden plates but have 3 quilts to make for gifts by early May. My son and his girlfriend graduate from college in early may. My son is like the cobblers children who never have any shoes. I have never made my son a true quilt (only a little lap one he long ago outgrew)while his sisters have several each. My ladybug loving niece turns 40 so she needs a ladybug quilt n’est pas? She also loves her martinis and I found a moda line Essentials that has ladybugs and martini glasses along with florals. It should be a hoot. Then by June we have to completely move out of our house for a major remodel so my poor dresden may be on hold for a while. Thanks again for this very fun project!! Whats next?????

I don’t know if you have discovered the website fantasticfiction.co.uk, but if you go there you can type in JD Robb in the author section and it will bring up all the books and the order that they go in. You can do that for any author, not just JD Robb. I am up to number 18 in the “In Death” series and have enjoyed every one.
