It’s a Mystery!
Stop by The Fat Quarter Shop’s Jolly Jabber blog this week and you’ll be in for a treat! Jolly Jabber is sponsoring the first ever Designer’s Mystery Blog Hop! 12 Moda designers (including me!) each designed a block for this amazing mystery quilt using Camille and Bonnie’s “Vintage Modern” fabric line from Moda. Here’s a sneak peek…
Don’t you just love the look? You’ll find this block of the month at The Fat Quarter Shop!
If you had to go into your closet and pick something that says “Vintage Modern” could you do it? Kimberly at The Fat Quarter Shop asked each of us to do just that! Now here’s where the fun starts… visit each designer’s blog this week and guess what they found (don’t worry you’ll get lots of clues), leave a comment on each blog guessing what it is and you’ll be entered to win a layer cake of each designer’s fabric! Visit the Jolly Jabber blog on the last day of the hop and the answers and winners will be revealed. Hey, maybe you’ll win a layer cake! You have 12 chances!
So, here we go, some clues to help you out!
You just might find a bit of ribbon trim on it…
Think I saw a couple of these on it…
And this little guy might have had a little something to do with it…
If these were blooming I wouldn’t be wearing it…
But it you saw this tree I might be…
So what do you think this is?
Oh come on, I’ve made it so easy for you! You just might have one of these in your closet too! I hear they’re coming back “in”. Vintage Modern for sure!
Leave a comment on this post telling me what you think this is, then visit these fabulous designers this week for more clues!

Another vote for a Christmas Sweater… and I LOVE the picture of the sheep who so nicely donated the wool :)
laurel
definitely a lovely Christmas sweater….
Earlene
Could it possibly be a Christmas Sweater?!!! That would be my guess.
Gloria
An embroidered, knitted wool Christmas Sweater that you where every year is my guess.
Janet H
I’m thinking the dreaded christmas sweater….good thing I continue to hang on to these gems! Especially since you say they are “coming back”.
Mary Kastner
The foxglove clue nailed it down for me . It’s a Christmas sweater. Thanks for the opportunity to win. Fun game!
Mary
Sarah J
It’s a Christmas sweater!
Pauline
OMG I think I have that Christmas sweater….too funny, just checked…mine is red, I’ve always loved red and still do. The local thrift shop had lots of them at Christmas. They are hot items for the ‘ugliest sweater’ contest that are popular at holiday parties. Good choice….Anne….Happy Valentines day…(o:
Carol Sc
I’m guessing a holiday sweater — and, yes, I have more than one.
Gail Whitis
Looks like a Christmas sweater or vest to me! Cute!
martina
Ok. Something with wool, ribbontrim, buttons and you are not wearing it, when it is warm and christmas? sounds to me also like a very warm and nicely decorated wool sweater or vest.
LeAnn Keenan
Gotta go with the crowd — Christmas sweater.
Malinda
I guessing a holiday sweater, too.
Marlene
A very warm Christmas sweater!
Kelley
I think its a Christmas sweater!
paulette doyle
Hey, you just described my Christmas Sweater!! It has all of the above on it and my daughters hate it…which is why I wear it!! I love the controversy and the chatter that it creates!! In fact now if I forget to wear it, they ask WHERE IS THE SWEATER? I hope you love yours as much as WE love mine!! haha Thanks for the chance to win your wonderful give away!
Paulette
Claire
Christmas sweater!
Of course nowhere near as absurd as mark Darcy’s Christmas “jumper” in Bridget jones!
Sheila
I’m guessing that it’s one of those gaudy, oops I mean beautiful, X-mas sweaters that were the rage back in MY Time, just a few (just wishing) years ago!
Shelley C
A wool vest/sweater.
Becky in Georgia
My guess is a Christmas sweater. After years of working in an elementary school, I have a good “vintage” collection. Such fun!
LouAnn
It sounds like you have one of those lovely old Christmas sweaters that many of us can’t seem to get rid of.
Julie
I’m thinking your vintage item might be a Christmas sweater all decorated up with Santas and ribbons and buttons, etc.
Cheryl
It has to be a christmas sweater!
Mary on Lake Pulaski
If you are wearing it, it must be a Holiday Cardigan.
Sherena
I’m guessing a wonderfully warm wool Christmas sweater.
rebecca
A beautiful Christmas sweater! Thanks for the hop!!
Jill
I have to guess a Christmas (wool) sweater. I have also heard of people pulling these out to wear to “ugly sweater parties”. I know a few teachers that have hung onto their old sweaters like this and still wear them for party day at school.
Janet
Looks like a Christmas sweater to me!!
Kathy Awe
The sometimes embarrassingly delightful Christmas sweater or better yet vest! Every year they sneak further and further back in the closet yet magically appear right as the holiday season approaches…those darn elves!
Cindy B
It looks like a Christmas sweater that I have! LOL
Carol Lewis
I say a wool flower ornament.
Shawn M
A Christmas Sweater would be my guess. Something very festive.
Linda K
It’s got to be a Christmas sweater. I’ve still got a few in MY closet! I heard one time on a fashion TV show a couple of years ago that you should “NEVER go out of the house looking like a greeting card” LOL. What do they know????
Sandy E
A christmas sweater is my guess. I even have a red one with a snowman and snowflakes – good for January too.
SuzK
I too believe it’s a Christmas sweater embellished with ribbons and buttons.
Linda P
I believe it’s a beautiful wool hat – maybe like a vintage cloche. I love hats, they’re so pretty, but give you “hat hair” I sure hope I’m right!!
Wanda S.
It’s a Christmas sweater. I still weat mine for real, not parties. It’s one of the ways you know it’s Christmas in Florida!
Jennifer W
I am guessing a Christmas sweater. Everybody has to have one of those. They do somehow work every year whether they are “out” or not.
Michele
Yep, a Christmas sweater. The newest thing is having Ugly Xmas Sweater parties. Tons of fun!
Penny
Definitely a christmas sweater. Seems to me I have a few somewhere!
AngieSue
OK, cardigan is spelled with just one D….oops.
AngieSue
A Christmas cardidgan! And it looks like it has metallic threads too!
Marcia
Well it’s an article of cloting that has ribbon/trim on it and buttons. It’s made of wool and is worn in the winter not summer. So I think a button down sweater would be correct though I don’t know that it has to be Christmas. I think button down sweaters are coming back in so Christmas or otherwise: Button Down Sweater. :)
Judy
Definitely a Christmas Sweater and I might add I have a few of those hanging in my closet as well!
Lois Martin
I have them as well! A Christmas sweater.
Carla Bossart
A Christmas Sweater!
SarahZ
i thought it might be a union suit until i saw santa! it must be a christmas sweater! :)
Karen
Yes ! A fully embellished Christmas sweater — these days the adult children are borrowing from their parents closets and wearing them to ugly sweater holiday parties !! Can you imagine ? My nephew and his wife win prizes every year wearing the “best” of my sister’s embellished Christmas Sweaters !! Sometimes Vintage just isn’t respected — lol.
Happy Tuesday !
Karen
Lee
My guess is a holiday sweater! lol how funny! thanks!
Dianne
A Christmas Sweater!
