Primitive? Me?

I just received my second issue of Primitive Quilts.    Have you seen this new magazine yet?  It’s put together by a group of really creative ladies and I do mean creative.  It’s so well done I find that I’m enjoying the magazine a lot.  I signed up for a 2 year subscription!

If you border between “Prim” and traditional style you’ll enjoy this new magazine.  To tell the truth I think there’s room for a bit of prim in a shabby chic home.

The last few quilt markets I’ve found myself in the booths selling wool and Valdani Pearl Cotton.  I’ve always been a fan of wool and well that Valdani, what can I say but yummy?

You just might find a few wool patterns coming up at Bunny Hill.  Shabby and prim…a new concept?    I don’t think so…look at this rug from Garnet Hill that I’ve fallen in love with…

It ties the whole look together.  Perfect for a shabby home and perfect for a prim home.  Best of both worlds!  Ha, you didn’t know I had it in me did you?

    Oooh – that magazine looks interesting. I’m fascinated with primitive and find myself drawn to those quilts – especially those that are pieced and appliqued. I’ll have to check out the magazine. Also, love your rug – I’m working on a GFG quilt as an on-going, take-along project – also part of a group dedicated to Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilts. It’s inspiring to see all the variations of the quilts – and it adds to my list of quilts I’d like to make :o) Happy quilting!!

    I saw that magazine the other day but I am not a prim person so I didn’t look at it. I guess I will go and take a second look. Thanks for the heads up and trying something a little different.

    So excited with your new combination of “Shabby and Wool”. I love them both and very excited to see them combined! As we quilt year after year we should be encouraged to try something new….styles change and our likes and dislikes change in this wonderful world of quilting! Can’t wait to see :)

    The ladies behind the magazine are more than impressive! I had the pleasure of living near their quilt shop (the woolen willow) for several years and they just kept taking on more and more adventures and doing them really well:)

    And you MUST do something shabby prim – what a fabulous concept and if anyone can pull it off – it’s you!

    Hi Anne. Will definitely check on that magazie, thanks for the tip. Have you ever been to the Country Loft in La Mesa Californina (near San Diego)? If you haven’t and you are ever in the area it is a must stop and visit. It is one outstanding quilt shop loaded with primitive quilt designs, great fabric and a huge selection luscious wools. Absolutely charming to boot. One of my favorite places to go and drool, I mean look! Haha

    When I recently purchased your Le Jardin pattern set from Bittersweet Quilts, a Joplin, Missouri vendor set up at the Hot Springs Quilt Show held in Arkansas, the shop owner told me that the pattern looked spectacular made up with wools!

    I’ve been searching for this magazine at bookstores, but no luck yet.

    I haven’t tried wool yet, but I keep running to a shop just a couple of miles from my house that has a wonderful selection of wool and lots of patterns and books for prim and wool. They also carry a small selection of the Valdani Pearl Cotton, but mainly just the colors used in their kits. I wander through and drool a lot and I figure one of these days, I’ll wander on home with a project to try. There is just something about the wool gives me a warm fuzzy…hmmm, no pun intended. Hugs…

    Bunny hill designs and wool would truly be the best of both worlds. I too love the Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine. I would love to see your concept of shabby prim bunny. Something fun to look forward to.

    I’m so glad you are thinking of coming over to the “wool side”. I know you would do wonderful designs with a primitive touch. I agree, mixing styles can work–or so I tell myself since that’s what I do :)

    I think that is a WONDERFUL idea!! I would love to see your work translated into wool.
    I have not had a chance to pickup this magazine but I have heard alot about it. I’m thinking I’ll have to pick up a copy to see how it inspires me.
