Quilts

Texas…

I’m leaving tomorrow for Texas and I’ll be spending time in Austin with friends!  I’m going to a girls retreat;  you know one of those sew, talk, sew, eat, and did I say sew?  I can hardly wait!  How long has it been since you’ve treated yourself to a little getaway time?  Maybe you should!  Get some friends together, find a place to visit and sew for the weekend.

So what am I working on?  I’m going to embroidery a beautiful “S” for the center of myConfetti quilt! My friend Nancy started making this quilt for me several years ago and she can’t finish the quilt until I’ve embroidered the center square.  She’s sewed together all these little nine patches as a present to me and they are sitting waiting for the “S” to arrive.   You’d think this was the Eiffel Tower I had to embroider, its taken me that long.

The end result will look very much like this, but I’ll have an “S” in the center!

All pink and white and yummy!

I can hardly wait to hang the quilt in my dining room !  How long can my fancy “S” take?  Hey, I have all weekend.

I’ll be back early next week.  Have a great weekend and I hope you get some fun sewing done too!

Hugs,

Anne

    Hi Anne!
I know you had a good time in Texas! We know how to party and quilt at the same time!
I was afraid I missed a workshop with you until I read further into the post.

I ADORE your First Lesson for sewing with kids! I am going to make a folder for each lesson. This is so needed. And I am glad you are starting your little sewer on a regular size sewing machine…and a Bernina too. That will really alleviate frustration. I noticed the machine does not have a needle threader…good practice. It is sort of like learning to drive with a stick shiff…you never forget the process.

    Thanks again, Anne!
    Happy 4th.
    Mary

I absolutely LOVE that quilt – the colors are so soft and pretty. I’m also going on a retreat this weekend with quilting buddies – can hardly wait. We quilt, eat, chat, eat, dance a happy dance, eat – did I say eat??? We have some fabulous cooks in our group and bring our own food, so it’s not a diet weekend :o) Hope you have a wonderful time in Texas – so much fun to get away with like-minded friends.

All the way to Texas for a retreat! How fun is that? Our group has two retreats a year. Tahoe in November and the foothills near Sonora in February. We have so much fun that I wish we could have another mid-summer.

Can’t wait to see the quilt when it is finished. The sample one is BEAUTIFUL!!

    Safe travels…

Have a wonderful ‘girls weekend’! It does sound like so much fun. You can spill all the fun details to us when you return.

That quilt is beautiful! Lucky girl.

Oh, how fun, Anne! I love that confetti quilt, it looks so quaint :) I sure hope you can get that ‘S’ embroidered this weekend, or you won’t be able to face us when you return!

Your trip sounds wonderful! Wish I could settle on just one project when I go places to sew. Sure would make packing easier! Have a grand time in Texas! :) :)

  • Brooke

Good luck with that “S”. Isn’t it the smallest of projects that can trip us up for the longest of times??

Hope you have a big time down here in my state. Fair warning….June in Texas is a little like visiting the surface of the sun! Keep cool and have a great break!

Anne I know you will have the best time. For the first time in my life I took a little get away to the beach with my girl friends (no husbands no kids) just a few weeks ago. It was awesome!!! Have a great weekend.

Wow Anne, I hope you have a wonderful time…well, there is no hoping I guess because when you get together with friends to sew, talk, sew, eat and you forgot to mention all the laughter that inevitably goes on at those gatherings, well, like I say, there is no need to hope, because you will most definitely have a great time. I would love to go to a retreat. My sis in law goes every year with friends from her guild in Oregon and they have a blast. Enjoy your time and for heavens sake get that “S” stitched so you can get that GORGEOUS quilt where it needs to be…I think I here it calling your name all the way over here so ‘get er done’. Hugs…
**note: Just wanted to make sure you notice the email change in my info. Not our doing, the company we have our service through was absorbed by a huge company and now we are trying to get used to the change in everything. I didn’t realize how many places I had to get my email address changed on…a nightmare I’m tellin ya!!!

I had a little getaway with girlfriends just a week and a half ago and it is to refreshing for the soul. Got some quilting in, lots of eating, chatting and laughing. Yes….good for the soul. I hope you have a great time in Texas. Your quilt is going to be adorable, too.
