Night at the Ritz

I’ve always wanted to make a two color quilt and the new gray and ivory in Puttin’ on the Ritz fabric just called to me! lately I find myself adding a lot of white and gray to my decorating so why not to a quilt?

Mooch loves how this quilt turned out.  The minute I folded up the quilt she was on it…

Her toes were twitching and she was busy dreaming…

It’s no wonder she likes this quilt.  I made it in her colors…gray and ivory.  Ritzy cat for sure!

Night at the Ritz measures 74″ x 74″.  Pick your favorite two colors and make one for yourself.    How about red and white, black and ivory or pink and white?  Let me know when you’re finished and I’ll send Mooch over to try it out!

Have a great Monday!

    Hi Anne

I’m with everybody here. This quilt is so lovely I am trying to order online right now. But, I am having difficulty finding the backing, referring to the code. I’m wondering if there was a typo. The pattern calls for 2807-28 but I can only find 2807-48 which is a grey and cream small floral print. Hopefully this is it because I don’t want to miss out. I’m so glad I stumbled upon your blog which led me to your shop. You are so very creative.

What a sweet quilt. Gaby is a lucky girl..There is a saying..”one who sleeps under a quilt is covered in love” This quilt is a perfect example..Thank you for sharing, Gaby!

Anne, I LOVE this quilt! Those plaid petals are just too cute! I have always loved grey, too, in fact, have had at least one of the bathrooms decorated with grey for over twenty years! Not exactly the same, of course, I’ve changed the companion colors, but grey is so soothing, and always classy, isn’t it?
Mooch is such a charmer :-)

You are so far ahead of everyone else! I’m finding out what a wonderful color it is. I am now the proud owner of a gray room and so happy with it!

Oh Anne, Love that quilt, love that Kitty Mooch. My dog Sid would love her too (in a naughty way). He is alot like your Chelsea. Did you fussy cut some of the squares on the quilt? Have some Lil and Wil fabric I am playing with at the moment, a friend needs cheering up so I thight a sewing gift was in order.

      Hi Bronwyn,

The center of the pieced blocks are fussy cut. Takes a bit of extra yardage but worth it. It’s a 6″ finished square. Hope you are having a mild winter! It is winter in Australia isn’t it?

    Very pritty Ann,
    It has a ‘Chique’ touch.
Good idea to make a quilt in 2 colours.
Thanks for sharing, and Mooch loooks great on it.

I never would have thought I would like a grey & ivory quilt, but I love it! I can’t wait until I can order the fabric. The pattern is just as fabulous as the fabric. Congratulations on such a great job!

Love that color combination. And Mooch matches it so well. Guess I’ll just have to find a set of gold/orange (or maybe just gold/ivory) fabrics to match my kitty Tigger Joe. I’m sure he would love to have another place to take his daily/hourly naps! Thanks so much for the inspiration.

I’m with Barb!…there are just sooo many wonderful patterns and beautiful fabric, I just want to make them all! I barely decide which one is in the number one spot to be made next then BAM!, it gets “bumped” due to the next wonderful pattern and fabric that you have…..so many quilts, and not enough time! (I’m still trying to get Snowbound finished!). Seriously though, just love your patterns and fabric (and Mooch is a cutie-pie too). You are the Queen of Creativity!

I’m going to call Penny and have her start picking fabric right away. She’ll answer if your not there right? If you notice scraps all over when you get home it’s just Penny using her inner dog powers.

The gray has been so much fun to work with. It seems to go with almost every color and acts as a neutral. I’m falling for gray too no doubt about it!

  • Barb

Anne, you are killing me!!! Seriously, this gray and ivory quilt is STUNNING! and so elegant!! Mooch is the perfect foil for this beauty!

The trouble is that I LOVE all of your quilts (how is a girl supposed to decide which one to make first? So many beautiful quilts and colors, so little time!)

Thank you once again for sharing your creativity with us and you unending generosity! I am in AWE!

Now that we know the house next door to you is available, I think there will be a long line of your devoted fans willing to move in. (Maybe we could just make it a “Quilter’s Group Home” – we would be SO lucky!!!)
