Halloween & Fall,  Quilts

Just a few squirrely friends

We all have a few squirrely friends don’t we?  Ha!  Right now all my friends are wondering if I consider them squirrely.  The dictionary defines squirrely (yes it’s slang) as being eccentric, flighty and maybe a bit odd.

Think about this…Henrietta doesn’t see a thing wrong with being squirrely.  Most of her friends are squirrely and so this month I’m giving a new meaning to the word!

squir-rel-y: -adjective, fun loving and full of joy.  Able to leap tall pumpkins in a single bound.   The perfect friend.

Block Six:  Henrietta’s Squirrely Friends

We’re 2/3rds through the quilt with this block not counting the border…have you been keeping up?  Is this your first try at using wool in applique?  How do you like it?

I had so much fun with the wool I can see playing around with it might be in my future!  I bought some Robin’s Egg blue and creamy white wool at market that I love.  Add a ball of Valdani Pearl Cotton and I’m ready to stitch!

Now I just need to dream up a project…

Hope you all enjoy making block six of Henrietta Whiskers!

Hugs,

Anne

Hey, who you calling squirrely? :) I haven’t started this project yet but have finally gathered all the fabrics. Hmmm, maybe I’ll be inspired by someone later this month to just do it!!!

Hi Anne, I too am really enjoying this BOM. This month is adorable- the squirrels look like they are having so much fun! I am trying to put an Australian twist on each block which hasn’t been too hard but you have me a little stumped this time – will have to really put my thinking cup on!!! Thank you so much for these wonderful patterns.

Once again, Anne, you delight us with the cutest block. Henrietta and her friends are just too much fun! Thank you so much for sharing her with us – we are so lucky!

And, your new granddaughter, Lily, looks like a perfect angel. Once again, Congratulations to your family!

    Hola Anne,
Desde Barcelona(España), te envio un saludo, desde hace pocos meses me he aficionado a Patchwork
y sinceramente me encanta.

I have been keeping a copy of each square, each month. I will eventually get around to making it as I did with the basket quilt which I love. Thank you for letting us have the free square each month.

This is my first BOM and my first time appliquing. I love these blocks. I have Made lap size quilts but I send them out for quilting. My question is can these be quilted as you go along? I have put my embellishments on and I scared I going to ruin it if I try to quilt when completed. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much for giving us these free patterns!

I’ve almost always believed squirrelly means “displaying intense symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.” I like your definition, and your squirrels, a whole lot better!

Just got your pattern for Henriette’s quilt. Will be starting on it soon. This is great to take on camping trips
when we have full hook-ups. I can work on the rolls, put them in baggies, mark what roll. Then put them
together when I get home. Love, love it. Thanks so much for sharing with us. I have told several of my
friends about your blog and site. Keep up the great ideas and patterns.

Anne, I love the new block, of course, thank you! I was totally caught up til May, but I’m almost finished with it and must hurry so I can movie on to June. I’ve been doing wool applique for many years and love it more all the time. Oh, and some of my best friends have been known to be a bit squirrelly :-)

I love this BOM and look forward to each new installment. The new cats and dogs quilt looks adorable as well. :)

We have some squirrely squirrels around here. Last night sitting on the deck there was one who was yelling at us for intruding on her efforts to forage in my flower pots! Glad you are coming to the Woolie side!

  • Joanne

I have been keeping up with the BOM, but I haven’t used wool for it, maybe one day I will try wool.
I absolutely love this BOM! the mixture of piecing and applique is fabulous. Thank-you so much!!♥
