More fluff and stuff

I’ll confess, I fell for it.  I believed Sandy Gervais could paint with her toes.  I spent about 3 minutes trying to imagine it and by that time I was at the end of her post.  If you are as gullible as me we could go together and buy the real estate she’s selling!  It’s not so far fetched because my DH can pick up pencils and things with his toes.  I’m not really proud of him for this trait but I didn’t find out about it until after we were married!

Today is Laurie & Jessi Jung day on Pillow Talk!   You’re in for a treat because everything they do is magical!  I love exploring their website looking at photos and patterns!  This  mother and daughter are so talented!  I’ve been told that Laurie does a lot of the design work for the home page on the the Moda website!

Tomorrow it’s Sweetwater another mother and 2 daughter team!  We get to have fun at market with them and Karla (mom) always makes me laugh.  Her smile is contagious.  I love to go to dinner with her she’s so much fun!

Barbara Brackman is on Thursday.  She’s had more influence on me than any other quilter or designer.  I use her Block Base software, and her book “Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns” is falling apart I’ve used it so much!

Deb Strain is on Friday.  I adore Deb!   Every market I buy my “lucky” notebook from her.  It’s the one I write all my secret ideas in and the notebook I can’t be without.  She designs the notebooks and sells them with her calendars and things at market.   Deb’s new to blogging so be sure and say hi!

Remember a few posts back I told you I was going to move my desk?  Here I am facing the wall and yes I look very happy but, for the longest time I’ve wanted to face the other direction; toward the center of the studio.  Well, with lots of help I’ve done it!

I’ve gone from this…

…to this!   I now face out toward the center of the room!  My work station is on the left and Brigette’s work station is on the right!  (Brigette took Bitty Mouse over to her side when I was moving things.  She thought I wouldn’t notice.) Sorry for that awful black and silver printer…don’t you wish we could buy them in pretty colors like pink, red, yellow, or white?  I love my printer (it’s a Canon) but not the color.  I long for a designer printer!

Some close up photos…

Right next to my desk I hung this vintage basket I found in Minneapolis when we were shopping for market props.  Now I’m trying to figure out what to keep in it… I’m thinking I may try something decorative.  Maybe jars of buttons, fat quarters from my newest fabric line, balls of yarn, ribbons…just can’t decide!

Last but not least I’ll share my Valentine treat with you!  While some of you may get chocolate my husband knows what I like. He found these in the store already and this year they come in orange too!

Hi, my friend recently introduced me to your work when she made one of your quilts, it was beautiful. So I came looking for your blog and was not disappointed. It is lovely. I especially loved the photos of your studio, it just looks so pretty and is still able to be functional. Very inspirational. Thanks.

Anne…You are so right about the printers…i have been searching for so long for a nice white printer for my sewing room…also looking for white shredder and flat screen tv..It irks me that the only colors available are black, grey and ugly beige colors…I am quite sure there is a huge market out there for electronics that fit into different decors…I have modeled my sewing room after seeing yours in yellow and white so black and grey are just not doing it…Let us know If you ever find a nice white printer…Loving all the pillow talk!!

Your new studio layout looks great and I love the colour scheme – very feminine. Why don’t you jazz up the printer with some decals, or maybe you could modge podge some fabric on it. I think ribbon would be beautiful in that basket.

Peeps are my absolute favorite. I really love them best when they are a little stale. Unfortunately, they never last long enough to get stale in my house. When I was a nursery school teacher, my co-teacher would buy Peeps and poke a little hole in the package so they would get slightly hard and then bring them in after Easter as a treat for me. That’s what friends are for. I saw the new orange color in the supermarket yesterday. I really liked the blue ones they had for a few years, but haven’t seen them yet.

Great room…I am with you, we need prettier printers. I did see that my neighbor got a white HP recently but I love my epson r1800 that will print 12×12 pages. Hmm, maybe they should make skins for them like you can get for your laptop!

Your studio is amazing! I love the fresh colors and neat, organized work area! I am just now ready to start hand stitching the blanket stitch on my 2 blocks for Henrietta the squirrel! I have this new 30 weight thread from Aurifil that slips through your hands like butter! And I am fueled by Valentine chocolate and ready to stitch!
I was just wondering on the Pillow Talk Blogging, no one is shown for Feb 17, any reason?

Your studio is so beautiful! I love your soft colors and clean, organized work area. I have just finished block#2 for Henrietta the squirrel!! Well almost finished, I have to hand stitch the blanket stitch around my appliques. I normally do needle turn, but I thought this quilt would look “woodsy” if I hand stitched the blanket stitch, and I just got this new 30 weight Aurifil black thread that feels like butter slipping through my fingers!
And today I am fueled by “Valentine chocolate” so I am ready to stitch!
On the Pillow Talk Blog, I noticed there is no one shown for day 17 – any reason, or just error left off?

Anne, Your studio always amazes me, it is so beautiful and filled with so many wonderful things. Are you enjoying your new view? I had to laugh about your hubby’s toes. I also pick up things with my toes, have since I was little, LOL. Though I find as I get older it has come in pretty handy, especially when it’s hard for me to bend over! I have to tell you though, my hubby is not really too fond of seeing me use my feet to pick things up, like you, it’s a trait he is doesn’t see as a plus! I don’t understand what the problem is…LOL. Hugs…

I am loving this whole Pillow Talk deal…but now to you and your gorgeous studio…..YOU know how to sew…..so you could create a printer cover…just like we make our sewing machine covers…you can do it in lovely pink. I will be waiting to see if you do it!! You know you can…you know you can!!!!

  • Loris Mills

You will be jealous to know that I got pink heart Peeps yesterday! They were adorable, delish, and gone fast :-)
Fortunately, Easter is just around the corner!
    PS Your studio is wonderful!

  • Marcia

OMG You love Peeps Too? I though I was the only person in the whole world that was sucker for peeps. Nice to meet you fellow peepeaholic!

  • Andrea

I love your studio, in fact, it’s my inspiration for my own quilting room in my new, yet to be bought house =) Is that the Pottery Barn desk? I am looking at the Bedford series, and also some other higher cutting tables. I can’t wait to find my new space!

  • Diane R.

Every time I see pictures of your quilt studio, I am so envious — it’s so beautiful, but yet very practical and organized. But it doesn’t always look so perfect, does it! Say it isn’t so!

  • Sandi H

    Hi,

I would get a thin dowel and slide your ribbons onto it and then put them into the basket. You could thread the dowel through the wire so the ribbons would be displayed nicely.

    Very nice redesign of space.

  • Tina

Love your new space! I don’t like having my back to the room either when I’m on the computer – one time a coworker thought it would be funny to sneak up behind me and scare me, and I threw my neck out of whack. Bad joke. I’m with Sandy too: can you share the computer software that let’s you draw on the monitor?

Happy Belated Valentine’s Day to you and yours.

  • Sandy

Love your studio. It looks so organized. Is it usually like that or you just picked it up for the pics. I am so organized with my space that when I go to a class or a retreat I get deemed a bit freakish. LOL! Always out in search of other freaky quilters.

I imagine that this space is where you design. Do you have another space for your quilting?

I also need to ask. What Computer are you using? It looks like a touch screen or is that just the software that is enabling you to ‘draw’ on the monitor? Can you share the details? It just looks very cool. (after being designated freakish, everyone discovers I’m a geek with a strong techie streak)

Thanks for the sneak peek into your space!

  • Mary Ann

Gorgeous Anne! Thank you so much for pulling together all the posts for us. I enjoy chatting with you in the AM before heading off to PillowTalk.

  • Barb

So…do you like facing out into the room more or do you miss your “old” layout?

You have The Most Beautiful & Amazing Studio! It is gorgeous!
I mean…look at the knobs on your drawers – fabulous!!!!! I sure wish I could poke around in that room and discover all the beautiful treasures in there. (and I agree about office/computer equipment – pretty colors would be so nice!)

  • SuzK

I like your new arrangement-you and Brigette will be able to talk more! Just wondering…do you break up your Peeps and let them get dryer, so they are chewier or do you eat them soft, right from the package?
