Moda Pillow Talk

Hi Everyone!  Welcome to Pillow Talk at Bunny Hill!  The creative mind behind “Pillow Talk” is Lissa Alexander the marketing director at Moda!  She dreams up things for us to do in her sleep.  No wonder she’s calling this “Pillow Talk”!  We never know what she’ll dream up next!  This time she’s given us questions to answer –  like what we do to relax, do we like pajamas, something about us you might not know, do we sew in bed…

…So grab your jammies, your favorite pillow and come on over for some Pillow Talk!  Of course you may have to share a bed with Bitsy or Chelsea…

…or, maybe Max, Mooch or Topsy.   I’m such an animal lover!

We can’t stay up too late talking because I go to bed early.  I get up at 5AM every morning.  It’s my favorite time of day and I’ll still be in my jammies.  Yep, that’s right I love jammies.  See if you can pick out the real Anne Sutton in the photos below…

Did you guess?  My husband picked the one on the bottom left.  He’s very funny isn’t he?

Lissa asked us to design a pillow for Fall market that “represented us”.  It was hard to decide on a pillow because sometimes I’m funny and other times I’m pratical.  Funny won and I decided to make a LARGE bunny.  Surprise!  I made a bunny pillow that my husband could use when I travel.  It holds his nose strips and his remote control (both he can never be without).  I carried this giant bunny in my luggage all the way to Houston and back.  He’s bigger than Bitsy and Chelsea put together.

Chelsea asked my DH to add a few treats to the pocket the next time I travel so she won’t miss me as much!  That dog is just so smart!

Today I’m  sharing something I love to sew;  lavender pillow sachets made with charm squares!

You can stack them to scent your favorite room…

or fill a pretty jar to decorate a special corner…

…or make a few for little Valentine gifts!

Just fill with lavender and decorate with a vintage button.

I love lavender sachets don’t you?

If you’d like to make some sachets yourself you can plug in this cord…

…(if you’re the lucky winner) and iron a package of Lily & Will charm squares with your new Oliso iron!

One of you is going to win this iron can you believe it?  It’s my “dream” iron and Oliso has generously donated one for a giveaway!  Hop on over to Oliso’s FaceBook page and say thank you!  Or, if you’re not on Facebook, visit the Oliso website and watch the video to see this iron in action.   Leave a comment on this post telling me why you’d like to win and I’ll announce the lucky winner on Tuesday!  Thank you Oliso for making such a wonderful iron!  Everyone at Bunny Hill has this iron and we all agree…we love it!

Just a few more questions left to answer…how about “do you sew in bed?”  What’s up with that question?   How does Lissa think we get everything done!  Of course I sew in bed!

“How many nights do you or your spouse spend on the couch?” Lissa obviously hasn’t been to my house.  It’s a big O.  There’s never any room!

What’s something you might not know about me?  I’m going to be a grandmother again!  My son Doug and his wonderful wife Elke are expecting their first baby at the end of May and it’s a girl!  My new grand-daughter will speak German, English and maybe a little French because Doug and Elke live in Germany.  How do you say “I’m so excited” in German?

Hmm…where did I put my IPad?  I’m reading such a good book! Pillow Talk is over at Bunny Hill and it’s time to relax.

Be sure and visit these other Moda designers for more Pillow Talk and treats!

February 1st … Aneela Hoey

February 2nd … Blackbird Designs

You’ll find more Pillow Talk tomorrow over at  Cottonway!   I love everything Bonnie does and so will you!

Have fun!

Would I ever love to have that iron! I learned to iron from the best as my mother was an avid ironer. I still have the coke bottle and sprinkler top she used to sprinkle her clothes. Of course, after her clothes were sprinkled, they were rolled up and placed in the frig for awhile. Oh yes, she also made her own liquid starch. I sure wish she was still here to see what modern technology has done with the art of ironing.

I enjoyed reading on your blog and had to chuckle over your furry children, oh so cute. You have such a homey place that is so welcoming. Congratulations on the news of your new granddaughter, nothing is better than a grandchild. That iron is the bomb. What an absolutely wonderful addition to all of your sewing notions. Whoever gets this iron will be one happy lady.

  • Mama Spark

First, congratulations on becoming a grandma again. How exciting for you and for them. I would love to win the Oliso iron. So far I can’t even tell you how many irons I have bought and replaced. I have no idea how we are so hard on irons! I am currently in need of a new one (yet again) and would be THRILLED to have such a nice iron to use Thanks to you and Oliso for the generous giveaway!!

  • Barbara J

    You’re so funny Anne!

Love those Lavender sachets, great idea especially with the vintage button and all.

I absolutely detest ironing and that could change if I won the Oliso ;)

  • Kay

I never thought I could get so excited about an IRON, but this one looks fabulous! Now that I’m a quilter, I spend a lot of time at the ironing board, and this iron could make that a much more pleasant experience. Thanks for the giveaway and project ideas!

  • Marjan

Congratulations with you’r new granddaughter to come.
    No wonder you are aufgeregt!
Would love to win the Lilly & Will charmsquars since I have a lot off lavender from our garden.

A huge congrats on the expected grandbaby! I’d wager there’s some project with pink Lily & Will fabrics in the works! Love those slippers, although love those polka dot PJs, too! Just watched the iron video. Looks like a fabulous iron, and I know it would be so happy to live at my house! There is lots of fabric here needing ironing! Penny sends puppy hugs to your gang … and she’s coveting Chelsea’s treats!

That pillow for the remote is just way too cute. As for the iron, I dropped mine a little while ago and now something is rattling inside and I think the temperature gage is off because its starting to leave scorch marks on my ironing board cover(which is fairly new). So I would love to win your oliso iron and I promise not to drop it.

  • Lynn S

A really good iron is as important as a really nice stitch! Mine is up for replacement–so I’d love to win one! I really enjoy doing your quilts–have done several and they are so comforting and charming! The bunny pillow is very you too!!!

  • Toni Anne Potter

Hi! Ann, I think it’s you wearing the bunny slippers. I had a pair of those back in the day, my beagle Bagel, would attack my bunnies whenever I wore them.(I fell alot back then)I just found a bag of lavender in my sewingroom I guess I’ll be making sachets. Happy me!!!Thanks for the chance to win that wonderful Oliso iron. I’d love to try that xtremesteam, it sounds perfect for piecing… Great photos of your many beasts, they’re so cute. I almost forgot where did you get a PINK Featherweight sewing machine? WOW!!!!Thanks again!!!;-)

  • Marjan

The lavendersachets look nice and are easy to make. Love the bunny pillow.
Thanks for the giveaway. I am still working on snowbound ;-)

The pillow is so clever! I love the pockets. The sachets are a great idea, I hadn’t thought of charms. Love the smell of lavender. We lived in England for several years, and that lovely scent always takes me back. I’m just amazed at the iron giveaway! I saw one in action at the Phoenix Quilt Festival, and was just amazed by it. Thank you for your generous giveaway!

  • Omajean

Congratulations!!! Oh I am so jealous, I still don’t have a granddaughter–only grandsons. Love the pillow, what a great idea. Love the iron, there is so much to think about when sewing and there are always distractions–thank goodness the iron thinks for itself!!!

  • Melva

I would love to have this fascinating iron….great addition to my quilting room really really a needful. I am ready to hang my finished Rabbits prefer Chocolate hand appliqued quilt….such pleasure to drift away gazing at it and having my morning coffee.

  • SuzK

Congratulations on being a grandma again! How wonderful! I love the sachet idea. I’ve been trying to think of some little thing to do for the ladies I work with at Valentines-this will be perfect! The iron looks intriguing. I hadn’t heard of it before but the design is brilliant.

  • Corinne

I love the story. The pets are so cute as always. I need an iron. I have a Walmart special that was 15 dollars and the box came with a coffee maker and blender. The lavender sachets are pretty in pink.Thank you for the giveaway.

  • Bernie

Great post, (as usual) from one of my favorite blogs. Is it sad that I have a love of small appliances???? I really NEED a new iron, and the features on this one look wonderful.

  • Robyn Brown

What do I like about the Oliso? Well for starters never dropping my iron again! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done that. Setting it back on it’s end and doing it hastily and it falls. Water leaks everywhere and I’m jumping so it doesn’t land on my toes. This iron looks awesome.

  • Vicki

I’d love to win one of those new-fangled irons and enter the new millenium of pressing! It looks great! Pick me! Thanks so much!

  • Hannah

I love the pillow sachets! There can!t be anything more soothing than a whiff of lavender…except a new iron! I’ve been putting off buying a new one and have been limping along with my leaky old one. Thank you for giving us an opportunity to win a dream iron and for sharing such a darling pillow!

  • Cheryl

Oh my goodness, it was so much fun to read your blog today! You are such a creative lady! The little sachets are wonderful done up in some of your own fabric…and that iron IS amazing! what quilter in her right mind wouldn’t like one of those. I was particularly impressed with its stability when she tilted her table. I would love to own one of these.

  • julie

I love the pillow idea….so cute. I would love to win because I have fallen in love with the lily and will line and would love to make another baby quilt and i need a new iron as my pup knocked the ironing board and iron over…the iron lost.

  • SarahB

Oh, my I need a new iron and it isn’t in the new budget! I would love to win one! The bunny slippers is definitely you, Anne… :)

  • jill

I love the little sachets…………..great gifts for valentines. The iron give away is unbelievable!!!!!!! I saw a demo on these and hope to own one someday, Sure would make pressing all those quilting seams a lot easier.
I believe that the photo of the bunny slippers is you!

The iron is pretty and has a lot of great features. I would love to win!! (Does it come in pink????) Congratulations on the new Granddaughter!! Babies are such a blessing! I love the pillow, but I bet your hubby and Chelsea still miss you when you are gone. Did I also mention that my iron I use now is Avocado Green!!? :)

  • Sharon Vrooman

Love the bunny pillow and the pockets for those essential bed items is just too much. I have just one furry quilting assistant – the QUEEN wouldn’t allow another. I watched the iron video – this would be great for my MOM who has trouble lifting an iron.

  • Lisa England

Cute pillow and I enjoyed your blog. I agree that this is a “dream iron” with so many wonderful features. I’ve had lots of bad irons. Some years back I found one I really liked, so I bought three. Sadly, now all are on their last legs despite my husband’s re-wiring and such. And naturally that iron is discontinued now. Just my luck! But this Oliso iron has several features that my iron doesn’t — I love that it lifts so you don’t have to stand it up. In my crowded sewing room I’m always bumping into the ironing board so my iron is in constant danger of hitting the floor. So, I’d really love to win! Thanks for the chance.

  • Linda McKibben

Hi Anne, the bunny pillow is darling as is all of your patterns. Just started BOM Night Before Christmas and anxiously awaiting for Feb 5 for next Henrietta Whiskers. Would love to win the iron after watching it on Fons and Porter for so long. Have never seen anything quite like it. It looks perfect for a quilter. Thanks for the chance to win.

  • Julie T.

Hi Anne. I love all your animals (and bunnies too). And such a great iron. I have been looking for a new iron as mine bit the dust recently. I think it has been moved too many times and just pooped out. And I need a good iron to (finally) begin Baltimore Bunnies with! Does that cover why I’d like to win? Thanks!

  • Paulette Lashley

Congratulations on the new granddaughter!! What wonderful news.

LOVE the bunny pillow!! Although I can hear him say “where is that pillow so I can find the remote (as he is sitting on it).

I would LOVE to win the iron. Heck, I would love to win the pattern for the bunny pillow or anything you have designed. I hope to start Rabbits Prefer Chocolate this year. Thank you for your beautiful work.

  • Bonnie N

I would love a new iron to say the least!! I iron everything because I love the crisp feel and smell..(am I weird??) Your pillow is a great idea..my husband has his remote attached also..what is up with that?? Thanks again!!

  • Lois Martin

What a wonderful idea for my lavender from WA! Lavender is so soothing and believ me, I need soothing. I am taking care of my 95 year old mother with dementia.

I love your blog and I love your designs.

The reason I would like to win the iron? I never win anything! Plus, I really want to try out the iron.

    Hugs!

  • Kaaren

The Oliso iron was on my Christmas wish list but alas, Santa ran out of them by the time he reached our house…or maybe he didn’t realize that we moved at the beginning of December and left it at our old house. Drat!

The lavender sachets would make wonderful hostess gifts. Thanks for the inspiration, Anne.

Oh, and I concur with Mr. Bunny Tales…I would have said that was you in the lower left photo too but the slippers in the lower right photo are a dead giveaway! *wink*

  • Melody

What a lovely post. Everything you make is so beautiful but I must confess it is those little four legged friends who melt my heart. Congratulations on the news from Doug and Elke, really wonderful. Hope you have a fabulous February.

  • Doreen

Love your “multi-purpose” bunny. You have such great ideas and I always love reading your blog. That has to be you with the pink bunny slippers.
Seems like I’m always forgetting to turn off my iron – even have a sign posted on my front door to remind me to turn it off before I leave the house so a new fancy iron with all the bells and whistles is just what I need. Hope I’m the lucky one!
Hugs to the fur babies – they’re all so cute!

  • Joanne

Love the big bunny pillow…and of course there should be treats for the pets!
    Cute idea for the sachets.
I’d love to win the iron…it looks great.
Thanks for all your designs, a group of us are working on Tiny Town and Henrietta, and have The Night Before Christmas on the back burner!
