Halloween & Fall,  Quilts

Who’s that Squirrel? It’s Henrietta Whiskers!

Let’s have some fun!  Join me in the Henrietta Whiskers Club!

Can you imagine a cute little squirrel with a winning personality?  I can, and I’ve put her in my newest applique quilt!  It’s Henrietta and she’s so excited to be here!  She’s the new Bunny Hill free block of the month for 2011!   I just hope all this attention doesn’t go to her head.   I can’t imagine that it will because she’s just so sweet.

It’s been a little over a year since my “Name That Squirrel” contest;  November 2009 to be exact.  Twila Dockter from South Dakota was the winner of the contest and the name she submitted was Henrietta Whiskers!   I fell in love with the name and it’s where I got the inspiration for this quilt!  Thank you Twila again and again!

Henrietta Whiskers is such a special little squirrel and she’s going to bring us a loads of fun!   The applique is easy, the piecing is simple and I’ve added a touch of embroidery for fun.  Nothing difficult I promise! If you haven’t appliqued with wool this is a good time to start.  It’s so easy and I think you’ll love it.  I’m here to help if you have questions.  You can ask them in the comment section and I’ll answer you.

Have fun choosing  fabrics.  I’ve given you a fabric guide to lead you on your way but remember it’s only a guide.  Email us (info@bunnyhilldeisng.com) if you are interested in using the same fabrics.  We’ll  direct you to where you can find them.  Pulling from your stash will also be easy;  just make sure you have a mix of light and dark backgrounds to set off your applique.

Did you notice I gave Henrietta a little pink scarf?  I just couldn’t help myself! You’ll see this pink in a few other places throughout the quilt.  Henrietta in pink.  Does it surprise you?

Floss sets and embellishments will be available next month.  I’ll let you know when we have them in stock.

You can join my Flickr group and show off your work as you go along!   You’ll meet some really nice people and get some great ideas.  Henrietta Whiskers on Flickr!

I hope you have fun with Henrietta!  She’s ready for a party!

Hugs,

Anne

Henrietta joins the ranks of other wonderful squirrels – Squirrel Nutkin, Earl the Squirrel and my personal favorite, Scaredy Squirrel. I am so behind on boms… heck, I’m only doing one and that is A Tisket, a Tasket. Several blocks to go but, honestly, Henrietta will find a life here in my studio! Thanks for sharing her with us.

    She’s so cute Anne.
What a wonderful design. If all goes well we get another grandchild this year, so you can imagine that I’m ready to start with this loveley BOM. When are we able to download the pattern?

    Thanks do much.
    Have a fine day.

I love this, Heryetta! Squrills run all over our yard and give my little dog fits. Maize can’t rest if she can see one, I just have to make this quilt! I will Probably put more red in it, I love red, redwork, and embroidery, have not done much appliqued this last year.

PS Maize is a miniture “weiner” all 6.5 lbs of her.

    Anne,

Henrietta is adorable! I ended up pulling fabrics in the morning, cutting in the afternoon and piecing before dinner! I’m almost done with Block 1.

I adore squirrels (my dogs do too!) and I can’t wait to see next months block!

Thank you for making another wonderful BOM to share with everyone. You’re too sweet!

Thank you Anne for another super cute, gotta-make BOM! You are so wonderfully generous to provide free BOMs every year to all your quilty fans. I posted about it on my blog and plan to dig out some wool and fabrics this week. Thank you again! You are the best!

How wonderful! Do you know your BOMs are the only ones that I have completed two years in a row (Well Snowbound is not quite complete but I have all the blocks done). I love your designs and am really looking forward to doing this one, too. Thank you so much.

Anne, Henrietta is just perfect. What a wonderful project this will be. I will most likely be doing her in stitchery and using Simple Abundance as my fabric collection as I got a pretty good collection of that line last year, picking up 1/2 yd here and a yard there. I’m thinking it will be wonderful. Now I just need some COSMO floss to stitch her adventures in. Thank you so much for generously sharing your talents. Henrietta Whiskers is about as cute as they come. Hugs…

Love your new idea, and I’ll definately be joining in the fun this year! We had to treat a cheeky little squirrel at the clinic a few months ago. He was soooo cute, but really fiesty! They have a good set of chompers on them! He did fine though and chattered at us, as if to scold us, when he was released. I also love that you’re helping our little animals in need with your Snowbound quilt. They need all the help they can get. I see such incredibly sad situations everyday, and we need to pull together to help our innocent pets!

I told myself I wasn’t going to do another BOTM from you since I have yet to finish the FIRST one I printed out, or last years, but you did it again, and now I will have to print it all out.

I am actually waiting until my applique skills improve because I love these so much that I don’t want to be disapointed with my skills looking at these quilts later.

BTW when I saw the pics of the people with umbrellas, I thougth THAT would be a great BOTM by you…animals with umbrellas, or just umbrellas ready for use!

  • Tina

Oh Anne – this is too cute! I’ve just begun my Snowbound quilt (cut the fabric yesterday!) as last year got away from me. But I am so excited to begin this project and work along with everyone else this year – how fun! I’ve not worked with wool before and would appreciate it if you could let me know if there are any problems washing a completed quilt that has wool embellishments – will the wool pucker, shrink, lump, pill, or…?

What a nice surprise/gift you’re giving once again! You are so very generous and creative. I just love your patterns!

  • Marsha

Anne, my husband and I have a “thing” for squirrels! We are absolutely nuts over them! Feeders in the yard, etc… Can”t wait to get started on your 2011 BOM. Thank you…it’s a blessing to be part of the “Bunny Hill world”.

  • Robin Gold

Dear Anne, Henrietta Whiskers is wonderful!!!!! The last thing I needed this year is another BOM, but this one is way too cute not to do! Thank you!!

  • Helen

Just when I’ve made a resolution to finish UFO’s and not start any new projects you come along with an adorable BOM. Thank you for such a sweet project. I’ll just have to find some time to work on it.

  • Sharon

Thank you so much for designing another BOM for us! I was late finishing the Snowbound, but it is finished except for the quilting. I’ll email you a picture. Anyway, I’m looking forward to this new one! I just posted about it and now going to put the button in my sidebar.

Anne, you are just too generous. This is such a gorgeous design! I love what you came up with and will be joining in as soon as I get my fabrics sorted.

Thank you so much for your generosity.

Thank you so much, Anne for the great new BOM. I simply love it and will be anxiously waiting for the 5th each month. I ordered the wool on your website this morning. Can’t wait to get started.

Oh MY!! Henrietta Whiskers is just too adorable! Thank you so much for another amazing BOM! What a fun year lies ahead for us!

I think Twila Dockter will be honored forever that you have designed a quilt for Henrietta!!! Congratulations, again, to Twila!

Thanks, Anne, for your amazing generosity – you inspire all of us!!

  • Anna

I am so looking forward to this year for so many reasons including Henrietta! I even signed on with the Flicker group this morning before leaving for work at 0500…Amazing what one can do with a cup of coffee!

  • Melody

Dearest Anne, thank you so much for designing another pattern for us all. I can’t wait to start my Henrietta Whiskers quilt. I am going to send a donation to the Humane society here in Australia in your name as a thank you for all the fun I had making Snowbound. It is truly a joy to have someone as kind, who loves animals as much as me, in my blogging world.

  • Jenny

Thank you for such a lovely pattern. I will be sure to visit Henrietta throughout the year, now that I am no longer ‘snowbound’…lol… I am off to post her on my blog :) Happy crafting, Jenny
