Playing With Fabric!

Finally……………… after much waiting, sample yardage of Lily & Will II arrived at Bunny Hill on Friday!  Lily & Will II!   When I opened the box the first words out of my mouth were “oh my gosh, it’s so beautiful”!  The fabric feels like heaven and the colors are yummy; aqua and butter yellow like only Moda can do!

We’ve cut it up and sent it off for samples to be made!  We move fast when there’s only 4 weeks from start to finish!  Pre-market days mean long hours and lots of work, but sewing with new fabric is something we never tire of!

What is it about new fabric that we all love so much!  There’s nothing like it. I love to spread out the fabrics and just look at them.  I find it hard to make that first cut!  Fabric is what keeps me happy, inspired and really glad I’m a quilter!

As we’re stitching away with the new line, we’re sending off a trunk show for Lily & Will I  to Fabric Depot in Portland!  If you live in that area stop by the store in a few weeks and you’ll see two complete nurseries; one in pink and one in blue.  They’ll have all my quilts and accessories so you can see them up close.

Lily & Will should be shipping to stores any day now and I’m waiting for it to arrive at Bunny Hill too!  I’ve ordered bolts of this cream Cottontail Toile.  I’m redecorating one of our bedrooms in white and cream and this fabric will make the perfect drapes! My husband promised to repaint that bedroom a yummy cream while I’m away at market.  I’m sure he doesn’t remember.  I’ll remind him in a few weeks. He just loves painting bedrooms (don’t I wish).

If you embroider, you’ll love the Lily & Will pre-quilted fabric in cream.  I love it so much I’ve added it to my next fabric lines.  Just place your embroidery pattern and pre-quilted fabric right side up over a light box and trace the design onto the right side of the pre-quilted fabric.  No need for backing; it’s already the perfect weight.  You can see the pattern through the fabric and it’s great! I’ll be using this fabric over and over.

If you can’t see the quilting in the cream sample above, here it is in pink!

Look at these blankies using this pre-quilted fabric!

Oh baby do I see blue waffle cloth on the back of that brown blankie?  You’re going to love the waffle cloth too!

While moms are whiping up some burp cloths, I may whip up some waffle cloth kitchen towels!  Wouldn’t these be pretty in the kitchen? I’m thinking pink and brown for me.

I know I promised pictures of the studio “at work”,  the real thing, up close and personal.  Truth is it’s getting worse every day.  It looks like a tornado went through here and I may not be able to find the camera!  It’s just too embarrassing.  Mooch is absolutely disgusted.  She’s sick of freezer paper templates, scissors and everything else.  Poor kitty.

And I miss not having the time to respond to comments.  I’ll catch up as soon as I can.  Hugs to each and every one of you.

Anne

    Lovely fabric.

Someone asked if Lily & Will is made in black & white. If you carry black & white where could it be purchased?

OK, I have to ask – is the waffle cloth part of your fabric line? If not, where do you get it? I have been looking for some for a long time, but my friend who bought waffle weave muslin said that it shrank up something awful.

I think you and those lovely pictures have me convinced to find room in my budget for some yardage for the boys quilts. My husband is going to kill me but after all, you only have twins once!

Anne, I can’t wait to see everything. Oh my gosh, you talked about the feel of the fabric and hating to make the first cut. I’m telling you…I can be happy for hours just spreading out new fabric and moving a piece here and there. Picking them up and just feeling the texture and beauty of it then rearranging it all again and getting ideas of which colors will go where in the quilt I am imagining in the sewing studio in my head (since I don’t even have a sewing ‘room’). The studio in my head is magnificent and so is the imagined quilt. Then I pick up the new fabric, feeling the smoothness, softness and texture…then lovingly put it back in the same case I took it out of. It will be there waiting for me when I need another fabric fondlers “fix”. Then, someday, maybe I’ll cut into it and make a real quilt that turns out almost as beautiful as my imagined one did…but the studio…well, that will be forever in my head, LOL. But that’s okay, because sewing room or not…I AM a QUILTER! Powerful words and a wonderful thing to be. Big Hugs!

I can’t wait to see these new fabrics in person! Of course, I need some of each. You really need to set up a nursery in one of ‘my’ local quilt shops….please? I’m picturing that waffle cloth for little hand towels in my master bath, which is painted in 50’s pale pink, with all the 50’s pastel colored accents (I’m pretty sure if you saw it, you would want to move in). I really have to get some of that fabric!
p.s. Don’t forget to stop and catch your breath….

Oh My – I am so excited to see your quilted cream material for embroidery! And it comes in pink!
Perfecto! I can’t wait to get my hands on some….
Wouldn’t that be the perfect backdrop for the snowman bom using wool felt for the snowmen?
    I have a mission now….
Thank you for a wonderful website and inspiring ideas and beautiful fabrics!

I think that cream would be perfect for embroidery. I usually do use a very subtle print for it. Nice that it will not need a backing on it. Have a great productive week!

Mooch looks annoyed in that picture! I love the pre-quilted fabric idea for embroidery. ;0 I can’t wait to get my hands on the yummy sateen trimming! Perfect for blankets and trim embroidered towels. ;0

PIQF is in 2 weeks. Hope to find these goodies there. If not, maybe Fabric Depot will carry them? They are a great online source for batting. They carry the good stuff in every size. ;0

Keep Calm and don’t forget to carry Bitsy! :)
