Advance Notice

Designing with Lily & Will was more fun than you can ever imagine.  Usually when I’m working with a line of fabric I tire of it by the end;  not so with this fabric.  I think it’s because it’s such a versatile line. Put the baby aside for a minute (carefully and just for a minute) and think about the things you can make for yourself with Lily & Will.  That’s right, make something for you!  Try some pillows, table runners, dresses, totes or how about this “Park Lane” quilt?

Park Lane” is one of my favorite quilts.   It’s so easy you’ll love making this quilt and just look at that fabric on the outer border!  You’ll need a charm pack of Lily & Will and if you don’t buy it now you won’t be able to get it!  Only Lily & Will I will have charm packs;  the green colorway is being dropped for Lily & Will II.  Charm packs will not be available after the first line.  You’ll still be able to get the original pink and baby blue with Lily & Will II, but not the green.  You’ve had advance notice!

If you think about it, this is unheard of.  Moda has not reprinted a line for a second season that I can remember and Lily & Will has that honor!  Tell your local quilt shop and I’m sure they won’t believe you.  Assure them it’s true.  You have it direct from the designer!  Along with the new colors in Lily & Will II, shops can order more of the original pink, blue, brown and cream fabrics in yardage, bundles, layer cakes and jelly rolls!

If you want the green (trust me it’s absolutely yummy) buy it as soon as you can.

And there you have it.  Advance notice!

Playing With Fabric!

Finally……………… after much waiting, sample yardage of Lily & Will II arrived at Bunny Hill on Friday!  Lily & Will II!   When I opened the box the first words out of my mouth were “oh my gosh, it’s so beautiful”!  The fabric feels like heaven and the colors are yummy; aqua and butter yellow like only Moda can do!

We’ve cut it up and sent it off for samples to be made!  We move fast when there’s only 4 weeks from start to finish!  Pre-market days mean long hours and lots of work, but sewing with new fabric is something we never tire of!

What is it about new fabric that we all love so much!  There’s nothing like it. I love to spread out the fabrics and just look at them.  I find it hard to make that first cut!  Fabric is what keeps me happy, inspired and really glad I’m a quilter!

As we’re stitching away with the new line, we’re sending off a trunk show for Lily & Will I  to Fabric Depot in Portland!  If you live in that area stop by the store in a few weeks and you’ll see two complete nurseries; one in pink and one in blue.  They’ll have all my quilts and accessories so you can see them up close.

Lily & Will should be shipping to stores any day now and I’m waiting for it to arrive at Bunny Hill too!  I’ve ordered bolts of this cream Cottontail Toile.  I’m redecorating one of our bedrooms in white and cream and this fabric will make the perfect drapes! My husband promised to repaint that bedroom a yummy cream while I’m away at market.  I’m sure he doesn’t remember.  I’ll remind him in a few weeks. He just loves painting bedrooms (don’t I wish).

If you embroider, you’ll love the Lily & Will pre-quilted fabric in cream.  I love it so much I’ve added it to my next fabric lines.  Just place your embroidery pattern and pre-quilted fabric right side up over a light box and trace the design onto the right side of the pre-quilted fabric.  No need for backing; it’s already the perfect weight.  You can see the pattern through the fabric and it’s great! I’ll be using this fabric over and over.

If you can’t see the quilting in the cream sample above, here it is in pink!

Look at these blankies using this pre-quilted fabric!

Oh baby do I see blue waffle cloth on the back of that brown blankie?  You’re going to love the waffle cloth too!

While moms are whiping up some burp cloths, I may whip up some waffle cloth kitchen towels!  Wouldn’t these be pretty in the kitchen? I’m thinking pink and brown for me.

I know I promised pictures of the studio “at work”,  the real thing, up close and personal.  Truth is it’s getting worse every day.  It looks like a tornado went through here and I may not be able to find the camera!  It’s just too embarrassing.  Mooch is absolutely disgusted.  She’s sick of freezer paper templates, scissors and everything else.  Poor kitty.

And I miss not having the time to respond to comments.  I’ll catch up as soon as I can.  Hugs to each and every one of you.

Color is Everything, almost!

I’ve just spent three weeks pulling together my new fabric line for Spring market.  Along with designs, I’ve surrounded myself with colors in every shade, pulling and eliminating until I thought I might be going nuts.  I’ve been dreaming of colors, and noticing shades and tones in everything I look at.   It’s a process that takes a lot of time, but I finally end up with a few colors that make the cut and get presented to Moda.  I take a deep breath when it’s done.  Then I pray Moda likes my colors and designs.

I just shipped the line to Moda and it feels a bit like I sent my child off to school!  I’ve been tracking this box all morning.  It’s a miracle I even got a picture of it before it left here.  My husband was rushing me saying he had to get to UPS if I wanted it delivered next day, and I kept saying wait I have to get a photo! Maybe if I had more time you could of had a peek under the tissue paper.  Darn, now you have to wait until next May (Spring market) to see it, and next October to hold it in your hands!  Let’s blame this on Mr. Bunny Hill!

So this box, or what you can see of it, contains some colors I just love.  Colors that make my heart sing.  They make me want to repaint my house, redecorate a few rooms, buy new clothes,  design new quilts, and well you get the idea!  It just might have one of my favorite colors in it (hummm wonder what that could be) along with a few new ones that might surprise you!  I can’t wait to show you!

So many things we like are determined by color.  Pantone, the leader in color, is now offering Visa cards in colors!  If they offered one in pink I might have signed up.  How cool would that be to have a pink Visa card?  My friend Anne B would have wanted a burgundy one, and I think Brigette would have held out for a black and white check. What color Visa card would you want?

Brigette wanted me to buy this luggage for market but it’s in the wrong color.   I might have done it had it been in a pink and brown buffalo plaid like the one I have in Lily & Will.  We searched the internet but nothing like this in pink!

And then Tiffany tempted me this morning with this stunning gemstone.  Tiffany has such a way with color!  If anyone buys this Tiffany brooch can you let me borrow it for a day or two?

I love the box that I sent to Moda.  If anyone can pull off color it’s them. I’d put them right up there with Tiffany!   Hopefully we’ll be tempting you before too long!

Gotta get back to work but I wanted to let you know that “The Night Before Christmas” is being quilted right now.  When I get it back from my quilter I’ll give you some sneak peeks and announce the winner of the contest!

Back soon!

Lily & Will II

While you’ve been waiting for Lily & Will yardage to arrive at your local quilt store, I’ve been waiting for sample yardage of Lily & Will II to arrive at Bunny Hill!  That’s right, Lily & Will II!

The twins have done it again!  Those sweet little babies are demanding a bit more attention.  They’re so sweet I’d do anything for them, so I added two new colors and created a encore line!  Think of a beautiful summer day and then spread some cheer by coloring everything a beautiful butter yellow mixed with a luscious ivory and soft shades of brown.   Love aqua?  You can have this color too!  Aqua, with the same luscious ivory and soft browns.   Oh you’ll be in love I promise!   Think what can happen when you mix the two colors!  I’ll be showing you this line very soon, ruffles and all.  We’ll have new patterns and fabrics for Lily & Will II!   Hey wait, isn’t that a new tiny check I’m seeing above?  That wasn’t in Lily & Will was it?  Humm wonder if it comes in different colors?  To think that you haven’t even gotten Lily & Will and I’m  waiting for Lily & Will II!

I’ll be waiting outside this week for that UPS truck.  I love getting a box sealed with the Moda tape!

Back soon to give you sneak peaks of the studio at crunch time.
