The hints keep coming and some of you might think I’m being tricky. I would never be tricky, even if I look a little like the lion in Michaela’s drawing right now. I said in my last post “here’s a “little” hint”. Little was in quotes, a hint, and not one of you mentioned it! Maybe you need some more help! My grand-daughter Michaela has kindly offered to help with the word “little”:
I’ve had 39 of you guess the theme of my new block of the month! 39! How about those odds for winning the prize! I’m closing the contest on Friday so you have until 9PM Pacific time to guess the theme! Come on my little stragglers. You can do it!
I’ll be picking a winner sometime next week, announcing the theme and showing the prize, but you’ll have to wait a bit to see the quilt. Just to entice you, here’s a sample of what’s included in the prize! I picked these tins up at the Cath Kidston store in London!
Ready to go over the hints again?
1. Christmas with some pieced blocks
2. A little bit of snow
3. A tiny bit of pink in the quilt, 5″ x 5″ or smaller.
4. The fabric I’m using is” Le Petie Ecole” from Kaari, the French General! Did you notice the gray in that fabric?
5. There’s a critter in the quilt that I like to draw almost as much as a bunny!
6. There’s a house in the quilt, and it’s set on snow.
7. Last hint and this is a BIG one! It’s an American theme with the critter and a few reindeer.
For a bit more fun, I’ll be announcing the winner of the “I Love my Pet Contest” in my newsletter on Saturday! If you see your name you’ll be getting that fabulous gift basket in the mail! I had 566 of you send in a over 800 pictures and one of you is going to win! To see all the pictures, here’s the link to Flickr!
You’ll also be getting block number nine of Snowbound on Saturday! I can’t wait to show you! Just look at my Snowbound group on Flickr! These are such cute blocks and you can post your blocks too. I look at them all!
Back soon!
Anne
I am guessing The Night Before christmas also. It would be a great theme!
Well now that I have read the plethora of comments I realize that a pink flamingo is way out there LOL! So a squirrel sounds reasonable but not sure how that fits in with reindeer. I guess a mouse and the night before Christmas must be it…that’s my guess. Would be totally cool to win!!
My guess is like the most of the guesses before: the Night before Christmas and the critter must be the mouse (what else? LOL)
Quilty regards,
Inge from the Netherlands
I’m going to have to go with the popular answer of The Night Before Christmas. I can’t wait for the big reveal!
All the hints point to the Night Before Christmas but where will the bunnies be? I am loving stitching the current block of the month and swore I wouldn’t start another before I had finished but maybe I will have to change my mind.
I will have to jump in with “Twas the Night Before Christmas” aka “A Visit From St. Nicholas” too. Very American! Oh I want to win that Cath Kidston stuff. I LOVE her!
Or maybe “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer”.
I would love to see a Santa’s Village quilt too. Could that be it?
What a great puzzle. Could it be St. Nicholas and the mouse?
My guess is “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas”.
Duh, the critter is a mouse with a pink nose and ears.
The house is the one where there’s no creature stirring, not even a mouse…
The Night before Christmas!
Still disappointed that it isn’t English/French/European tho’
I think it is The Night Before Christmas with the little mouse, reindeer on the house rooftop, snowing–with room scenes inside
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring….but wait – there’s a mouse!
I believe that Mercer Meyer has a literature character called “Little Critter.” As far as a classic American tale I would guess that the story is ‘Twas the Night before Christmas.
Just a quick little guess from an elementary school teacher. :0)
Well I would think it might be the Night before Christmas and it has a little mouse that was not even stirring! I sure hope that is it! I can’t wait to see it as I’m sure it will be fabulous:) This has been a fun contest!
Laura T
Been away from my computer….It has to be Jolly Old St. Nick and the Night before Christmas. Little critter has to be a mouse, lambs are cute too but, they don’t rhyme with house. Can’t wait to see it!!!!
Well gee whiz I am slow….a mouse of course and my favorite holiday…..Christmas. We read The Night Before Christmas every year as the grandkids go to bed….so fun. You are a fun lady and your granddaughter will be designing for you soon!!!
Guessing a mouse, hoping it is a squirrel!
It must be Twas the Night Before
Christmas with a little grey mouse ????!!!! I can hardly wait you always have the cutest patterns!!!!! Nurse Payne :D
When I read the clue “little” my firdt thought was a bug. But after some thought i will say it is a mouse!
Judy
It just has to be Twas the Night Before Christmas at Bunny Hill!!!!!!!! The critter you like to draw as much as a bunny would be the little mouse… the only one stirring… the pink will be the sugarplums… mamma’s kerchief, a toy bunny in the sleigh, the frosting on the cookies (lol) and St Nick’s mouth… and there will be a toy lion with the bunny in the sleigh :-)! The fabrics are oh so yummy!!!!! I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forget the contest… just release your new BOM pattern… on SATURDAY!!!!!!! Happy Labor Day!
The mouse that roared i.e. mouse and lion – still think squirrels are involved – oh well……………..
The the Night Before Christmas
Mouse – as in ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas!
Mouse, mouse, mouse!!! And, it rhymes with house! ; ) Mouse. Twas the night before Christmas…!!!???!!!???!!!???
Sounds like your Christmas BOM is following the poetic story of “The Night Before Christmas” with a mouse (the critter), house with chimney (patchwork house block maybe), a little snow, santa and his sleigh, reindeer, maybe the kids dreaming of sugar plums, maybe a tree block and toys, etc.. mlwright29 (at) hotmail (dot) com
‘Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the house
not a CRITTER was stirring
EXCEPT for a MOUSE!
Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse. Is it the Night Before Christmas?
“Nutcracker Sweet” with King Mouse.
It took me long enough to get the mouse part, today’s post settled that. And the mention of gray fabric in the fabric collection you are using! So I will go along with everyone else for The Night Before Christmas, as there is a sleepy mouse in that poem. I am imagining a quilt with a house that you can see into all the rooms, much like a dollhouse, with a sleepy mouse and reindeer on the roof. And maybe even Santa coming down the chimney.
Oh, those tins, I’m drooling here!! Your giveaways are always so amazing, I hope you bought doubles of these (or more!), or how could you bear to part with them?
Hmmm, well, I’m torn. I think the creature is a mouse, and I think the theme is the Night before Christmas BUT there are also a lot of mice in the Nutcracker–maybe that’s not an American tale, though? I guess I better stick with Twas the Night Before Christmas!
The Night Before Christmas, also known as A Visit From Saint Nicholas!!!
Crossing my fingers and hoping I’m the winner as I actually COLLECT copies of the story! I have about 30 different books that we take out for the holiday and my children love to sit and look at the different illusrations. Amazing how many different takes there have been over the years!
Thanks for the fun giveaway!
Twas The Night Before Christmas is my guess! (and the mice weren’t stirring)
Thanks for the chance to win! Kathy
I am guessing the night before Christmas with the mouse helping Santa on his trip.
i guess mouse as well….
I would love to see Michaela’s drawings in an applique book.
Sign me up for the first copy!
Could it be a mouse before christmas
Well, I am thinking it’s a Lamb…..You love lambs……..that’s all I can think of!!!
gloria g. in South Carolina
Anne, I’ve been sitting here staring at those wonderful Cath Kidston treasures that are part of the prize and decided that it was definitely time to cross my fingers and toes in hopes of a chance at winning! They are just so bright and cheerful! (plus I love polka dots) Thanks for the sneak peek, AND Michaela’s most excellent artistic hints! You know, her pictures would make great embroidered quilt blocks…don’t you think? Hugs…
OH, NO! A mouse? I’m sure it will be darling.~
Lucy~
It’s a mouse! House, reindeer, some snow, it’s magical not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse….Twas the Night before Christmas!! Can’t wait to see the pattern!!!
I would have to guess “The Night Before Christmas”. Good luck everyone! :0)
I think a little mouse, a bunny and all things Christmas would make a beautiful quilt. Hope you pick me Anne, would love to have a little cheer right now. Thanks for all the fun. Judy
The Night Before Christmas
It took me a couple of tries, but could it be a mouse? Excited to find out what the critter is!!
I’m guessing a little mouse with reindeers in “It was the night before Xmas!”
This should be an adorable quilt just like all your other designs!
It has to be Twas the Night Before Christmas….
How fun….as usual.
Darc
xxoo
I think it must be a Christmas mouse or mice!
I think the theme is ’twas the night before Christmas!! Not a creature was stirring, not evn a mouse! I can’t wait to see this fun quilt project!!
“Twas the Night Before Christmas” – and no one was stirring not even that little mouse in Michaela’s picture – thanks for the cute drawing Michaela.
Wow!! Did those hints go over my head!! Got it now, “Twas the Night Before Christmas!!” The little critter being the Mouse!! Cute!! Can’t wait to see it!
Lisa
Twas The Night Before Christmas, is what I think it will be. I am looking forward to seeing it. I know it will be so cute. Debbie H
I think it just might be Clement Moore’s, “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” with the critter-mouse. And if it is that one it would look superb in those fabrics.
Now I know it is Stuart Little in Paris…Christmas in Paris with Stuart Little…
I cannot wait!!
Love,
Mary
I think it is Twas the night before Christmas, with a little mouse,
It sounds like the critter is a mouse, so I’m thinking the night before Christmas theme! Can’t wait to this quilt, it sounds adorable!
Twas the night before Christmas with an adorable little mouse
T’was the Night before Christmas… Oh I bet it’s gonna be so cute! With that little mouse.
Okay … t’was the night before christmas. Can’t wait to see it.
I going to guess Twas the Night Before Christmas.
Christmas on pumpkin hill
Awww that so totally made it. Night before christmas and mouse. I can’t wait to see what this is going to look like.
How about “Chrissy The Christmas Mouse”?
How about “The Mouse on Christmas Morn’ing”
Grins:_>
It has to be a mouse. that’s the only “Christmas” animal I can think of.
“Twas the night before Christmas…. starring a little mouse. Sounds great! Whatever the theme I can’t wait to see it!
‘Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse’ Ha! or maybe that should be AHA! Twas the Night Before Christmas Hooray :)
I too am guessing a mouse and the Night before christmas – a classic I have read almost every Christmas eve since childhood (even when I was the only ‘kid’)
My guess is The Night Before Christmas with mouse critters!
Tis the Night before Christmas
Okay, I am sure it is now a mouse and the Night Before Christmas! Hope I am correct this time.
~Sue
I have just discovered bunny hill recently and am new to quilting and applique, but I LOVE it and your site . Your block of the month is cute as pie with the snowmen. Very excited to try them. I think the “little” description refers to a mouse. and I think its Twas the Night Before Christmas at least I hope it is. Its my favorite. I really hope I win, I have never won anything.
The Night before Christmas and a cute little mouse!
Twas the Night Before Christmas – the critter is the mouse?
Jumping on the band wagon – “The Night Before Christmas” with a little mouse that has a pink nose!
“‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” and all thru the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mmoouussee……
May I remove my dense/dunce hat now???
:) Jackie in NC ,proud furmama of the beautiful golden dog pictured above under the heading “Oh! Those cuties!”
I’ll take another guess…North Pole with Santa’s house…reindeer of course maybe a mouse checking things out. Or it could be the night before Christmas, not a creature was stirring….not even a mouse!
Well it looks like that gave it away. I’ll go with everyone else and the “night before christmas and mouse” guess. However the “little” lion hint could be taken as a kitty kat. They are, you know, little lions. The pink would have to be santa’s cheeks and mouse nose. Hmmm, can’t wait to see where the pink ends up.
I think it’s a little mouse and “Twas The Night Before Christmas” is the theme.
Alright I am going to have to guess Twas the Night Before Christmas also. At first I was going to mention the Nutcracker, as I just love that story and it involves a very large mouse, but I’ll stick with Twas the Night Before Christmas. I can’t wait for the next block in Snowbound. I made that my August goal to actually start the quilt and get it finished through August and I did it! I used the same exact fabrics as your sample and it really is cute. Thanks again.
my guess is… twas the night before christmas, not even a mouse… or a have a chipmunk of christmas!
Okay, I should jump on board with everyone else and shoot for Twas the Night Before Christmas. I thought I had already guessed mouse though…hmmm I know we are all going to feel silly when we find out that it is something very obvious..good job on keeping us guessing though..
I’ve already guessed once, but here goes again! I’m thinking it’s your spin on “Twas the night before Christmas”. Regardless, I can’t wait to see it!
Okay, it’s got to “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, how clever.
thanks for the clues.
The Lion and The Mouse
As soon as I read it I thought of Twas the Night Before Christmas, then I got to the other comments and it looks like everyone else did, too! I guess we will see soon. It would be a great theme for a BOM quilt! ! ! And you would really make it cute!
It has to be Twas the Night Before Christmas with a little mouse! I can’t believe it took so many clues for it to click, I must need some rest!
‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house… Did I guess it?
Well I think I finally get it.. Twas the night before christmas…and all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Can’t wait to see!!!
EEK…..tis a mouse prancing around the Christmas quilt???? Can’t wait to see your quilt. Nothing cuter than a mouse ( when it is appliqued) and not really hiding in our cupboards ( YIKES)!!!!
I’ve already guessed the mouse in a previous post but not the theme and I’m with everyone else who says “Twas the Night Before Christmas”. I’m working on Le Jardin right now with the same fabrics you used, and I have to say it is absolutely “BEAUTIFUL”. I’m glad there are those of you out there who are so wonderfully creative. Thanks for the giveaway too!
“An American Tale” with fivo the mouse is still one of my all time favorite movies. I think although he isn’t Christmas with his beautiful face he would make a great character for your christmas quilt.
Welllll, it took me a lot of time (and hints) but with today’s post I think I got it !!! ;-).
I hope I’m right in guessing the BOM will be about a mouse (or mice). At least I hope so, I would love it!
Thank you so much for all the lovely patterns you make.
Have a great day
Dutch hugs
Dya
“‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
Still think the theme involves a house or houses for Christmas with a squirrel as the main character. I probably am wrong but thats my story and I am sticking to it. Not good at guessing.
That would be Twas the Night Before Christmas. I should check before clicking,
Is it Twas the Noght Before Christmas??????????
Well, it sure does sound like “A Visit from St Nicholas”, but the mouse is sleeping, so is there a squirrel that’s wide awake and watching Santa and the reindeer? Thanks for the fun!
I think its a baby alphabet quilt!:>)
OOOOh now I KNOW……my favorite poem/story “Twas the Night before Christmas”. I will HAVE to make this quilt!!!!! Can’t wait to see a sleeping mouse, dancing sugar plums and Santa all in “Bunny Hill” style. Going to LOVE IT.
I’m with Sarah B comment 18. Christmas in Tiny Town would be great.
I’m waiting for Tiny Town in the mail now.
OK I’m going with “Twas The Night Before Christmas” because I know that’s an American poem and in it are “reindeers” above a “house” and a “little” non-stirring “mouse”. Maybe there is a pieced window that we look through to see Santa arriving. And it will look lovely and vintage in the French General and Moda fabrics. And of course “gray” for a mouse with a “pink” nose and ears. I so hope I might be in with a chance. Can’t wait to see the finished quilt.
I am with everyone else now and it’s the mouse so it has to be, “The Night Before Christmas.” But I am still very fond of squirrels so maybe we can sneak one in?!? I also still want a Christmas version of Tiny Town (like Whoville on the Grinch!) AND the advent calendar would be a fun applique. The alphabet quilt was also a good idea…. humm, I don’t think you can go wrong, Anne, with ANY of the ideas your bloggers come up with!! If nothing else you have a loyal following right here who will buy any pattern you decide to make…. peace and “good tidings”, Sarah
I think I am all very late now butis it the Night before Christmas? (My very favourite Christmas poem I can recite!) CAn’t wait to see it I will bet it will be wonderful
Love Anne
It’s so much fun to follow this guessing!
I’m not that familiar with US Christmas themes, but as you have a love for squirrels I thought it might be about the song ‘Earl the Christmas squirrel’?
So if you see a squirrel up in a tree
You never know, it just might be
Earl gathering nuts for Christmas Eve
Now he’s a part of Santa’s crew
Just like the elves and Rudolph too
Working all year long for you and me
Thank you little one! Yes, I now get it. “Twas the Night Before Christmas” when all through the house…not a creature(or critter) was stirring…not even a mouse. ;0
However, I have NEVER ever heard you say you like to draw mice??!! It’s bunnies and squirrels…bunnies and squirrels! ;0
Oh sheesh! Twas the night before Christmas. The critter is definitely a mouse. Sounds cute, of course anything Christmas is good right? Of course!
Okay…A Christmas mouse? Perhaps like everyone else seems to be thinking…The Night Before Christmas. What a fun theme that would be.
Now I get it! It must be “Twas The Night Before Christmas” just as many before have guessed. And I am thinking it must be a mouse – since not even a mouse was stirring that night! This HAS to be it! I can’t concetrate on my other projects because I keep thinking about CHRISTMAS themes and we have only JUST gotten the back-to-school out of the way! :o)
That’s got to be it — ‘Twas the night before Christmas theme, including the mouse with a pink nose, who is not stirring in the house with snow on the windowsill. Of course the reindeer and Rudolph will also make their appearance. Please have this be right so I can finally get some sleep!
Hmmm…I was thinking a squirrel. I think I remember you mentioning on your blog that you like squirrels. Guess it could be a little mouse, but I’m sticking with the squirrel. Can’t wait to find out what critter it is!!
~Cindy~
A mouse that was not even stirring the night before Christmas? Really, with all these hints I hope I’m at least getting close!
After looking at all your patterns and reading the hints…again, and again. I have to go with Twas the Night before Christmas and the critter being a mouse. I so love the idea of this quilt with those fabrics I hope I’m right!
Well that was the best hint yet! It has to be the little mouse in The Night Before Christmas – thank you to your wonderful illustrator! – Marlene
A mouse is all I can come up with. I was thinking lamb, but they’re not very little! So if you have reindeer, it must be Christmas, and if there’s a mouse, it must be the Night Before….or maybe it’s just time for more coffee, lol!
Thanks Michaela, I needed your help as I am not a very good guesser. Now I am guessing a Mouse with the theme of The Night Before Christmas.
I believe a mouse may be involved and it may be Twas the Night Before Christmas.
I am thinking The Night Before Christmas…yea!
A mouse and the night before Christmas would make sense!
Would it be Twas the Night Before Christmas Anne?
