I Led You Astray!

Remember the days before the dog photos?  They days when I was giving you hints about my newest block of the month?   If you guess the theme of the Christmas block of the month I’m working on,  you’ll be entered into a  drawing for a nice prize.  It  might even include some Cath Kidston  treats I picked up in Europe!

I led you astray with the pink featherweight post.  It wasn’t on purpose!  Really!  When I read your comments I had to laugh.   Someone started talking about a pink Christmas and the next thing I knew you were all going down that path!  ( Can’t imagine why you think I’d put pink in one of my quilts!)  Well I’m here to give you another clue.  There will be some pink in this quilt but it’s smaller than a 5″ x 5” square!

Clues for the week (each week I’ll add another clue):

1.  Christmas with some pieced blocks

2.  A little bit of snow.  White snow NOT pink snow.

3.  A tiny bit of pink in the quilt, 5″ x 5″ or smaller.  (First I said 2″ x 2″, but it’s really 5″ x 5″)

4.  The fabric I’m using is” Le Petie Ecole” from Kaari, the French General!  Just look at this fabric and fall in love!  It’s perfect for my quilt, but be careful! Don’t get led down the wrong path again!

I’ve combined “La Petite Ecole” with a  Bella bundle  of neutrals from Moda.  These are perfect for backgrounds and  the “other” things you might find in the quilt like that little bit of snow!

Just look at how they go with Kaari’s fabric!  Bella on the right, and French General on the left.

I’ve printed out two comments for the drawing, but  I had to really stretch just to get those.   Put your thinking caps on and come up with a Christmas theme!  I’ll make it worth your while if you win, but you can’t even enter if you don’t guess the theme!

And finally for a Bitsy and hubby update:

Bitsy is feeling good.  She loves her morning walk.  First I push her in the stroller, then she gets out and walks several blocks with Chelsea. When we get home she stands in the front yard and won’t come in unless I carry her.  That dog would stand outside till winter comes, she’s that stubborn.  I raised two boys but I throw my hands up with my old dog.  So I carry her in the house and put her down on her bed.  She loves it.

Hubby lost his fingernail on his thumb and he still can’t move it very well.  He needs to go back to the Dr. just to get it checked.  If he doesn’t make an appointment soon, I’m going to give all of you his email so you can “nag” him too. Why is it that when a wife gives advice to a husband it’s called “nagging”?

Back soon!

Anne

I’m going to say an old time Christmas theme with Santa’s and with some adorable lettering in it.

    Ann,

This fabric looks good for an applique Christmas quilt of a quaint village with lovely little houses and Christmas wreaths on the door and quilt shops decorated with Christmas quilts in the window.

Can’t wait to see what you are working on! Love the Tiny Town BOM!

    Yvonne says:

I’m sure the theme is Christmas cookies for St. Nick.

    Sarah B. says:

Wow, that’s a lot of guessing and I’m sorry I didn’t read them all so I might be “borrowing” someone elses guess now, but whenever I see the French General fabric I think of cooking. So my new guess will be some Christmas cooking or a family dinner together around the table. And if not that one then maybe some Victorian themed carroling (spelling?) or hot chocolate around the fireplace with the snow falling softly outside the windows… *sigh* I miss the snow in the summer! But I hate the Ohio snow by January!!

    Hi Anne,

My guess is “A Little Piece of Christmas” or “Le Petite Noel”.

I can’t wait to see “Lilly & Will” in person.
Thank you for the give away.

OK, How about “Je t’aime Noel”? This means “I Love Christmas” in French :)!

    Michele says:

OK – what about CHRISTMAS is for….you know….C is for say “candy canes”….H is for Holly…R is for ribbons…etc….something like that? with some pieced blocks in between as well as maybe the word MERRY on the top border? Plus, I am sure there would be some bunnies in there somewhere! ;)

    Hi Anne~
Happy about Bitsy doing better. It’s not an easy issue, our aging furkids. At least they have us, they know they’re loved and in a safe environment.
I am saddened to read about your DH’s hand, I had hoped it would have healed better, I pray it does soon.
Smiling here: I have come to the stark conclusion that we wonderful, giving, considerate, well-meaning, non-nagging women are just polar opposites from men. I, too, have been told ‘nag’ when he ignores when I speak, yet our dogs just need to “do their cute look” & they receive his total attention. aagghhh.
My Christmas BOM ideas: Storefront Christmas or Countyside Christmas (maybe with grazing animals, cottage-style homes) or Christmas with our Pets.
Blessing to you & your loved ones.

How about a paris country themed christmas with animals in the country – bunnies, birds, a cute little deer along with a snowman? Love the alphabet so not sure how that might be incorporated. I can hardly wait to see it!

Here I am again…I’m really thinking the letter fabric must be significant…either Christmas related things for each letter of the alphabet, or toys/gifts for each letter? Maybe? So that’s my guess for today :-)

Hmm! This is getting to be a quandary! Perhaps it’s the 12 Days of Christmas (as seen by the mouse in the “Night Before Christmas?”

Perhaps it’s just a Christmas Mouse story?

    Not Christmas cookies, huh?

More hints! We need more hints! – Partial photos? :~)

    Marilyn says:

OK…Here’s my next guess. I guess a Christmas alphabet quilt. The pink is used for a sleigh in the ‘S’ block. The snow is for the ‘F’ as in Frosty the snowman. Am I close??

    nancy in IN says:

Pink is in applique, I would think. I am on Facebook but don’t use much except to keep track of family. I’d rather email personally than have everyone read what I say.
    Waiting to see the BOM

  18. 118
    Marcia says:

With that last clue I looked at your BOMs. You use pink quite a bit as an accent. It could be the chilly pink cheeks on Santa? It could be the pink ears of a kitty or bunny or lamb or their noses. I still think it’s somethng vintage. Maybe an old fashioned village, like the north pole? The lettering would be used for a sign of some sort, like the bakery, the quilt shop. What on earth are you going to use the letters for. Oh, more hints please. I’m so reaching and just guessing. I’m not putting the dots together yet.

I like the idea of sweets like plum pudding or cookies with pink icing and gingerbread men or houses would be wonderful, so would a village scene

Maybe the Night Before Christmas…. the pink could be sugar plums dancing in their heads??

So many possibilities, but I’m going for pieced snowball blocks and maybe a Christmas scene around the tree with beautifully wrapped presents, with a view to outside and the falling snow, a Christmas Favorite Things.

I am thinking of a quilt with a school as a center block, decorated for the holidays.
Imagine the school from Tiny Town but with snow and a snowman?
Surrounding blocks would have the ABC’s of Christmas.
Thanks for the teaser, I am looking forward to seeing the quilt.

    Sally says:

Since one of the clues was letters, I think you will be spelling Christmas with one letter being in each of nine blocks. And then have applique around the letter. Can’t wait to see it.

“Joyeux Noel” is what I’m guessing. …or you could add a palm tree with ornaments and call it, “Mele Kalikimaka”!

    Nancy C. in Utah says:

Anne, I’ve been studying the fabric and trying not to read the other guessesand though my head is a little muddled (anesthetic I suppose) I’m thinking it looks kind of like a “Dickens” style Christmas Village…or something to do with Santa…The Night Before Christmas and all that, the pink could be a ‘sugar plum’. It just looks so much like something old fashion and wonderful to me! OH I wish my brain was working a little better LOLOL. As for your hubby being stubborn about his thumb being looked at…well, I just don’t understand where that stubborness comes from but it seems to very definitely be a male trait. OOPS!!! I got caught, I’m supposed to stay in bed for a couple more days so now I’m getting “the LOOK”. Oh well, I just wanted to try to get in another intelligent guess, hehehe, didn’t work. Now, what was it we were saying about being stubborn and whom were we speaking of? *wink*

    Karen Atkins says:

A Christmas Alphabet set of block, but in the Dickens’ style. The fabrics have a vintage feel and Blocks would use the first letter from the fabric and then an applique for that word with a Christmas theme? Whatever it is, I can’t wait to see it. I love the fabrics you have chosen.

Hi, I’m thinking holiday theme or 12 months of the year with mice? Don’t need a whole lot of pink for mice. Mice skiing, skating, sledding, kiting, etc.

Love Tisket/Tasket/Snowbound and all of your other patterns and fabric. Can’t wait to read monthly blog. Great pointers/ideas. Also love looking at other quilter’s blocks. don’t have any animals of my own, but liked all the cute photos.

So..American, winter, a critter that you like to draw almost as much as bunnies and pink is involved – I am going to go with a christmas bird theme. Not sure how the pink would factor in there but am sure you will sort it out. Would be very funny if the bird was a pink flamingo!! LOL
