I Led You Astray!

Remember the days before the dog photos?  They days when I was giving you hints about my newest block of the month?   If you guess the theme of the Christmas block of the month I’m working on,  you’ll be entered into a  drawing for a nice prize.  It  might even include some Cath Kidston  treats I picked up in Europe!

I led you astray with the pink featherweight post.  It wasn’t on purpose!  Really!  When I read your comments I had to laugh.   Someone started talking about a pink Christmas and the next thing I knew you were all going down that path!  ( Can’t imagine why you think I’d put pink in one of my quilts!)  Well I’m here to give you another clue.  There will be some pink in this quilt but it’s smaller than a 5″ x 5” square!

Clues for the week (each week I’ll add another clue):

1.  Christmas with some pieced blocks

2.  A little bit of snow.  White snow NOT pink snow.

3.  A tiny bit of pink in the quilt, 5″ x 5″ or smaller.  (First I said 2″ x 2″, but it’s really 5″ x 5″)

4.  The fabric I’m using is” Le Petie Ecole” from Kaari, the French General!  Just look at this fabric and fall in love!  It’s perfect for my quilt, but be careful! Don’t get led down the wrong path again!

I’ve combined “La Petite Ecole” with a  Bella bundle  of neutrals from Moda.  These are perfect for backgrounds and  the “other” things you might find in the quilt like that little bit of snow!

Just look at how they go with Kaari’s fabric!  Bella on the right, and French General on the left.

I’ve printed out two comments for the drawing, but  I had to really stretch just to get those.   Put your thinking caps on and come up with a Christmas theme!  I’ll make it worth your while if you win, but you can’t even enter if you don’t guess the theme!

And finally for a Bitsy and hubby update:

Bitsy is feeling good.  She loves her morning walk.  First I push her in the stroller, then she gets out and walks several blocks with Chelsea. When we get home she stands in the front yard and won’t come in unless I carry her.  That dog would stand outside till winter comes, she’s that stubborn.  I raised two boys but I throw my hands up with my old dog.  So I carry her in the house and put her down on her bed.  She loves it.

Hubby lost his fingernail on his thumb and he still can’t move it very well.  He needs to go back to the Dr. just to get it checked.  If he doesn’t make an appointment soon, I’m going to give all of you his email so you can “nag” him too. Why is it that when a wife gives advice to a husband it’s called “nagging”?

Back soon!

Anne

Okay Anne, since its a bigger piece of pink, maybe “The night before Christmas’ with all of the children tucked up in bed and a wee girl has a pink quilt on her bed.

I still think it will be an animal theme for the quilt…dogs, cat, bunnies, etc. Love the new French General fabric!!! I planned on buying some, but will wait for your pattern to come out and hope FQS does a BOM program.

Hi Anne I don’t know what it is with husbands I have been nagging mine to go for a physical as he hasn’t had one in five years and he is 68 and putting on weight. I definitely think your husband should see the Dr. just to make sure everything has healed. Your Bitsy is so cute how he has you wrapped around his paw. I didn’t get to send my Zeusie’s picture in because I have been busy packing to move, but I enjoyed all the pictures.
I am wondering if your christmas theme is going to be for or about children but I do love fabric.

Boy this is a hard one! I’m thinking and don’t know why, maybe a Victorian Christmas scene, like people walking down a street shopping, looking in the windows and at the decorations.

Glad Bitsy is doing a little better. Hope she and your DH are all better soon!

Ok I have pondered and pondered like a song that gets stuck in your bonnet. I’ve decided; no my instint tells me it’s christmas kitties. But the pink. Where would the pink fit in? Christmas bunnies is too easy. Pink tummy? Pink floppy ears? Oh this song will not stop buzzing around my head. Wise Old Owls? Maybe Rudolf? Yep stuck on critters. Teddy Bears….oh that would be so cute. That’s it, not thinking about this anymore; tonight.

    My guess is Christmas Pets.

I think it is funny that Bitsy has you so well trained.

    Marcella in Seattle says:

I guess “Kitten Capers on the Night Before Christmas”. (The pink might be sugar plums? The angel on the tree top? Icing on Santa’s cookies? I know, I know! the Christmas Flamingo!)

If I might have a second guess, it would be the Twelve Kittens of Christmas, and the pink is for the “Ladies” Dancing! :-)

  19. 69
    Marcella in Seattle says:

Ohhhhhhhh… I know! “Naughty and Nice Kitties” from Santa’s list as he is checking it twice! But what could be pink if not a Christmas flamingo? The scarf on a snow kitty in the front yard?

I’m stuck on that pink pig! ROFLOL

If it’s a French alphabet with animals, couchon is French for pig. Man, I can work that pig in anywhere, can’t I?

Oh, oh, “This Little Piggy went to Market”!

Okay, I promise no more pig guesses… oink!

    Melody says:

What about Christmas in an old fashioned schoolroom. There could be rows a little desks, a blackboard with the alphabet, little milk pails of Christmas treats, the Christmas tree with presents for the children below, the class pet – a bunny of course , piles of books, sheet music and tiny musical instruments, children’s drawings on the wall, a snowman visible through the window and so much more.
PS I love French General fabrics + a touch of pink.

Anne – first off thank you for all you do, and all the lovely pet pictures! Made me very sad, as I lost my old dog last year, but had such a good time looking at everyone else’s pet! I just couldn’t bring myself to send a photo in…
Because Ecole is school in French (if I remember it well enough from more years ago than I’ll ‘fess to, the theme of Christmas vacation would be very cute! And could end back at school. That little pink could be all sorts of things on vacation!

    SewLindaAnn says:

Continuing with my previous comment No. 7 – that 5 x 5 pink square has got to be either a signature snowball block or an appliqued bunny. I’m trying to figure how they would tie into my proposed theme. I love riddles, which should be obvious since I’m thinking about this a lot!

  27. 77
    Trisha says:

Oh! Is it “The Nutcracker”??? That would be so cute! With just the teeniest bit of pink!

    Anne-Marie says:

I adore the fabric!! At first I thought it has kitten “written” all over it, then I see loads and loads of ribbons, somehow? What about Sun Bonnet with her kitten that wears a pink ribbon … tee hee hee. I love the type of font on the fabric … looks very “Western American” … like the old movies …

    Anne,

Im thinking of Nutcracker Ballet or even a count down to christmas. (advent calender) Any way since I have already made five of your quilts I know it will be stunning, and A must have for me.

  32. 82
    Nancy Brooks says:

Anne…ok here is my second and third guess:
    1. You originally mentioned that there was another creature that you liked to draw besides bunnies…so i think it will be Christmas Teddy bears
    2. You said the 5×5 piece of pink fabric was key…so i am thinking Christmas Presents…Either way…i think every comment people have suggested would be the perfect quilt for you to design!!!! Lots of ideas for the future!!!

  33. 83

Since there’s no limit to the number of guesses (is there?)…anyhow ‘petite ecole’ does mean ‘little school’, and I liked one person’s idea of a Storybook Christmas, so I’m adding that to my list. Am I in the drawing yet? Am I, huh?

  34. 84
    Kay Harmon says:

Two thoughts. It’s a snow globe or a Quija board theme. Obviously, I’m stretching!

  35. 85
    Marilyn says:

OK….I’ve thought about this some more and my next guess is a Christmas carol theme. Each block represents a Christmas carol. Block one = O Christmas Tree, block two = Jingle Bells, Block three = Hark the Herald Angels Sing, etc. You used the pink fabric to make an angel?

  36. 86
    Christine says:

Your followers are so creative! I am not that creative….Christmas, snow, more snowmen, pink angels, pink flowers? I can hardly wait to find out the mystery!!

  37. 87
    bonnie says:

I still like the 12 days of Christmas BOM or even a Nutcracker quilt, but with the alphabet fabric, makes me think you are heading in that direction, with a for airplane, b for ball, c for car, d for doll ,,,,,,,,,etc as for the snow under a sled maybe, or in a snowglobe.. pink fabric– a doll’s dress

  38. 88
    Heather says:

I seriously have no idea. All these guesses are insane! There has to be someone who already has it! However, I will add mine to the list – “Winter Wonderland”. As in “Sleigh bells ring, are you listenin’. In the lane snow is glistenin’…” Or how about Bunny Hill Baltimore Christmas? I can just see it now… Gorgeous appliques are coming to mind!

  39. 89
    Mary Meats says:

My guess is that it has to do with that Jolly Fat Man we know as Santa Claus. I am excited to see what you are designing.

Hi, I’m going to go with “vintage toys” for the BOM theme. If I may have another guess, I’ll go with ” Christmas elves” I love the fabrics and can’t wait to find out what you have planned for us. Thanks as always,

    Cyn says:

I reread the clues and the “little bit of snow..” is making me think the theme is “snowflakes”. Thanks for the contest…it’s fun and I hope someone guesses correctly.

    Jeanie says:

mmmm. Let’s see, could you be making a scene with a cute little French child walking to school (uphill;) in the snow admiring all the Christmas pretties along the way?! Regardless, I will look forward to the finished quilt.

  45. 95
    Carrie P. says:

I am going to guess the theme is “over the river to and through the woods to Grandma’s house” Those black letter on the blue fabric remind of something old.
I am so glad to hear Bitsy is walking a little with Chelsea.

    Hi,

I’m guessing either a Christmas alphabet/word quilt or I’m still thinking the Nutcracker characters. I’m thinking pink as in sugar plum treats.

Though when I think of pink I do think of pink flamingos or pigs! LOL!!!

Hello, My guess for the Christmas quilt would be Christmas A-Z. I see some beautiful fabric in that bundle and I see pink in Santa’s cheek, or, a pink poodle for P would make a wonderful present too. This is fun. Thanks for keeping the surprise and the chance to win. Karen
