Come along with me!

Thank you for all the comments on my last post.  I loved reading them!  We’ve traveled down this road called quilting together, and I feel like each of you is a special friend.  Come along on this new Moda journey with me!  I’ll be sharing things that happen along the way, giving you tips, tutorials, sneak peeks, a few giveaways and so much more!   The destination is Moda, and the fun will be in the journey!

Yesterday the studio was chaotic.  Quilts are coming and going, their names are changing so fast I can’t remember what quilt is what, patterns are getting written and I’m planning our booth space for Minneapolis quilt market!  And yet in the middle of the chaos, things are still normal for some in the studio!

Do any of you live in Minneapolis and happen to have a handyman husband or know a good carpenter?  I need two walls built for my booth at International Quilt Market coming up in May.  Do you know someone who can help?  Please, please email me!  If you live in the Minneapolis area, love sophisticated chic, know where to look for vintage things, and would be willing to help, please email me.

For those of you who might be crocheting away, I’m still picking up that needle too, whenever I can.  It’s not perfect and I’m a bit embarrassed to show you, but remember it’s been years since I’ve crocheted.  Had a bit of trouble changing colors, and I can see one row is wrong…not sure what I did. I’m determined this will become a throw so I’m sticking with it.  I’ll keep you posted on my progress.  Anyone know what I did wrong to get that “ridge” across the darker pink?  I can expect to get better as I go along don’t you think?

I’m going back to work while it’s still March.  April is just a few days away!

Have a  great day.  I’ll be back soon!

Coming Soon From Moda!

Have you seen this Moda ad yet in McCall’s Magazine?  Just so happens I have a copy of it.  May have to get it framed and hung on my studio wall!  Why?  Because I’m a Coming Soon Moda Hexagon!!!!!  One of these little hexagons is me!!!! ME designing for Moda Fabrics!!!  Pinch me before I faint!  Moda, the company of my dreams!  Moda, the company with the most gorgeous fabric ever.  Moda with the most creative ideas, and wonderful designers.  MODA!   Can you believe it?

Boxes of my premier fabric line for MODA have been arriving for the last three weeks!  First the yardage, and then the box of sweet treats I told you about filled with jelly rolls, layer cakes, bundles, and BEAUTIFUL charm packs.   You could hear me screaming with delight when I opened that box!

Here’s a sneak peek of a pink and brown jelly roll.  Couldn’t you just have this with your tea?  These rolls are so pretty and Moda’s offering them in other colors too!  Just wait until you see them!

And how about this selvage?  Have you ever seen anything so cute?  The color dots on the selvage are bunnies!  I couldn’t believe my eyes!

So start thinking sophisticated, posh, chic, satin, satin pre -made pleated ruffles, baby and not just for baby.  I’ll be showing you peeks of what I’m working on as I go along and telling you more about it.  My fabric line with Moda,  ”Lily & Will” makes it’s debut at Spring Market, May 21st!  Get ready to wrap yourself and your baby in “Sophisticated Chic”!

I have so many exciting things planned for this fabric.  I hope you’ll love it as much as I do!  We’re hopping at Bunny Hill, surrounded by Moda fabric!

Hugs,

Anne

SewCalGal Awards

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Darlene over at SewCalGal, for hosting the first annual Golden Quilter Awards.  To all of you who voted for me, thank you, thank you!  I’m totally blushing when I say this, because it seems I won the SewCalGal award for best designer!  With so many great designers who were nominated I am truly humbled by this award.

And a great big hug and thank you to Bonnie, my blog reader who nominated me!  You are the best!

I know, this post was supposed to be about the sweet treats that arrived last week.  But I have to say thank you first!  I’ll be talking about that box of sweets in tomorrow’s post, I promise!  Maybe I’ll have you over for tea and sweets!

Hugs, to you all!

Photo Shoot

Since the photo shoot last week, and the sweet treats that arrived in the mail, my life has been turned upside down.

Quilter’s Home magazine was here to take photos of my house for an upcoming issue. NOT just the studio, but the whole house! They were everywhere and it took hours and hours.  Luckily for me, the photography team were my good friends Gregory and Elena.  They are wonderful to work with!

If you haven’t seen a photo shoot before, it’s amazing to watch. There are cords everywhere, lights all over, multiple tripods, not to mention the photographers doing their staging thing.  Mooch wanted in every photo.  At one point we had to lock her up just to keep her out of the pictures.  It was hysterical.  And then when I thought they couldn’t possibly take anymore pictures, they wanted pictures of me! I was so tired at the end of the day I just fell into bed.  Mooch too!

You’ll be seeing the professional photos in Quilter’s Home so you’ll have to wait to be surprised.  I think it’s going to be in the September issue, but I’m not sure yet. I’ll keep you posted.

While they were photographing I started thinking about how I don’t normally show my corner of the studio.  This is really where I spend most of my time and maybe you need a  peek.   This is my favorite corner.  It’s where I’m surrounded by pets and where I do most of my design work.  Yes, it’s a bit messy, but has to be when I’m working!

I’m always at the computer, with Chelsea on one side, Mooch on the other and see the dog bed on the floor?  That’s where Bitsy sleeps.   Isn’t that the “Snowbound” quilt hanging over the chair?  If you look really close you might get a peek at those treats that I got in the mail. Oh I am so bad!

I’ll be talking about those soon in my next post…

Back soon!
