Wool Bundles

Look what I added to my web site!  Little wool bundles!  These are so cute I may just send one to myself.  If I got one in the mail, I might be tempted to keep it bundled on a shelf,  just because the colors are so pretty.   But don’t do that! These little bundles are made to be used!

So, what can you use these for?  Applique and crafts!  These are 6″ x 7″ pieces of  Weeks Dye Works hand dyed wools!  Remember that chick in “A Tisket, A Tasket” block four?  Here’s the perfect yellow for the little guy!  Use these wools for times when you don’t need a large piece.  They are perfect for applique!

You can find them here on my web site!

I’m off to a breakfast at my Granddaugther’s school.  She’s so excited I’m coming, but then she’s only 10.  Think it will change when she’s in her teens?

Start of Something New

Post update:  Everyone is asking about Chelsea’s big weigh-in.  She gained 2 ounces, hubby got the lecture, and Chelsea was all happy because she got attention from everyone at the vet.  She was supposed to have lost 4 ounces.  I would have settled for her staying the same!  I’m taking her Valentine dog treats back to the store.

Ok, now onto the post…

I love this part of designing;  fresh fabrics on the work table and the start of some new!  I’ve sketched out my new quilt on graph paper, the drawings are in the works, and now I get to play…

…play with this wonderful fabric from Moda!  “Fresh Cottons” & “Martinique”,  the combination is intriguing!  I love these two fabric lines and how they work together.   Now comes the hard part of choosing the fabrics to use.  (These fabrics aren’t in the stores yet, so you’ll have to wait a bit.)

Everything comes off the design table so I’m working on a white background.   I eliminate the fabrics that don’t work with my design, and I’m left with a box full of possibilities.  I pull fabric after fabric for just the right applique combination.  I love these fabrics together, don’t you?

You’ll be seeing them soon in a new pattern!  I make such mess when I’m working and fabric ends up everywhere.  But at the end of each day the fabrics are folded, put back the box and I start fresh the next day.  This is so much fun!

Before I get back to work, a round of  applause for Barb and Mary over at Me and My Sister Designs!  It’s finally happened!  They have a blog!

See? Even they can’t believe it!  You can find it here at Me and My Sister Designs  Be sure to leave a comment and scroll down and read the pants and bathroom post.  Too funny!  Stop by often and let them know you did!

Back soon,

Hugs,

Anne

The Weigh-In

The weigh-in is tomorrow.  No, not for me, for her…

Chelsea has a weigh-in at the vet tomorrow, and we start preparing for it a week in advance. It’s kind of like Weight Watchers. You know the weigh-in is coming,  so you cut back for a few days.  I hope the bow doesn’t add ounces to the scale.  She’s wearing it, because who can resist a plump Chihuahua in a bow?  Helps hide the rolls around the collar.

I can tell she hasn’t lost any weight. She feels heavy when I pick her up, and well, she looks heavy too.  I’m going to make my husband take her for the weigh-in.  He’ll get in trouble and he’ll turn around and blame me.  It’s worth it not to have to go.

And then today, in the mail came the solution to Chelsea’s problem. I just couldn’t believe it when I opened the “In The Company of Dogs” catalog!  Apparently I’m not alone with this problem.  Just look at this!

Hummm…maybe a doggie gym is in order.  Will someone local please open one so I can drop her off for an hour every day?  Can’t you picture it?  Little rooms, each with a treadmill, workout equipment, bowls of water and a TV playing Lassie?  I’d even pay a membership fee.

Hugs,

Anne

Why I Love My Cat

It’s early in the morning: the sun hasn’t come up, just a desk light on next to my computer.  The studio is quiet. I’m checking emails and catching up on things left undone from the night before. I suddenly realize my sweet cat, with the awful name (Mooch) has come to keep me company.

She’s been there for awhile, before I really become aware of her.  She’s made her bed on a notepad and pen next to my computer.

I grab my camera, sitting there on my desk, and I capture the moment without waking her!  She opens one eye and then closes it right away as if to say, “Oh, you’re still here? Good, I’m going back to sleep”.

She’s the best of company in the early morning hours and one I sometimes take for granted. It’s amazing to me how animals become a part of us. Who else would stay by me while I work away, content just to be there?

She was desperate when we found her.  She’d lived over a year in my son’s neighborhood, sneaking into garbage cans, through dog doors, always trying to find food. She could be seen on a fence occasionally, or in a tree, but she kept her distance.

Sometimes when my daughter-in-law came downstairs in the morning, there would be the cat on the kitchen counter.  Both would be startled to see each other and the cat would run out through the dog door.  They have three large dogs, so the cat was very brave to enter!

The neighbors were complaining, she was knocking over garbage cans and there was talk among the other neighbors of “doing” something to get rid of her.

And then one quiet afternoon it happened.  She walked right up to my daughter-in-law who was sitting outside, as if to say, “I really need help”.  A gentle hand, a desperate cat, and a little kindness worked a miracle.

I think it was meant to be.  She became my cat.  Here she sits, quietly content, the best of company!  She’s friends with Chelsea and Bistsy, always by their side too.

The sun is coming up, and she’s waking up too. “It’s time to start the day” she says.  To think I’m the lucky owner of such a wonderful cat.

Mooch.  What an awful name.  What a wonderful cat!  I call her Mucho Dinero, or Muchas Gracias for short. More fitting don’t you think?

Have a great weekend everyone!  Hug your cat if you have one!

Hugs,

Anne
