Christmas Day

Christmas day brought turkey, stuffing and those oh so good mashed potatoes.   My son Doug and his fiancé Elke arrived from Germany on Christmas Eve.   Luggage was lost, but the Christmas spirit was not.  Lufthansa delivered the lost luggage to our house 6PM Christmas day!  They tried really hard to get it here, and we live a good hour 1/2 from the airport!

Table is set

The Christmas table was set by Doug and Elke.  The table cloth is a gift made by my friend Barbara, who blanket stitched trees, reindeer and Santa’s around the border!   And, next to the adult table, was a special table for our grandkids…

That’s sparkling cider (not champagne) served in those Target polka dot glasses!  And do you recognize that little Target tree?

And after dinner, we opened presents.  Elke tried on the robe we got her, and Chelsea tried on her new sweater.  Hummm, wonder who likes their present the best?

Hope your Christmas was wonderful!  Now it’s time to get organized.  I’ll be back with some tips to help just in case you’re in the organizing mood too!

A Quilter’s Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone!  Wishing you much happiness and joy during this holiday season.  For those of you who will celebrate alone this year, a special wish is coming your way for a wonderful Christmas day filled with hours of sewing fun and lots of Christmas movies!  You are never alone if you’re a quilter. We all share a common bond.

Winterthur Christmas Tree

My friend Nancy sent me this poem, and took the pictures you see on this post.  I think we can all relate!

Twas the night before Christmas,
I’m glued to the tree.
I’m wondering what Santa
brought just for me..

Could it be fat quarters
or a pattern or lace?
Or a quilt kit, I said,
with a smile on my face.

And that’s when I heard him,
"Hi Santa," I said
"You know….good little girls
should be in their beds ".

"I know I should Santa,
and now I’ve got caught.
But I was just so excited
to see what you brought."

"Well, let’s take a look
in this room where you work."
He shook his head quickly,
And left with a jerk.

I heard him exclaim as he put it in gear.
"You’ve got enough stuff, I’ll see you next year!"

It’s that time of year

It’s been such a busy week! I’m not sure where it went, but it just flew by!  Seems the season gets busier every year!  School recitals, last minute gift purchases, wrapping presents, shopping list after shopping list, it’s crazy!

Seems some of you have been busier than me!  I’ve already received pictures of finished A Tisket, A Tasket quilts!   Just look at these!

Oh Christmas Tree

I’ve always had a live tree.  It’s only in the past several years that we’ve gone to an artificial tree.  It’s against all my principles, but it’s necessary.  It’s an artificial tree, or no tree, it’s that simple.  The month gets shorter every year, and there’s never time now to get “Christmas” pulled together.  So I fill my tree with so many ornaments  you can hardly see the branches. Ahhh, but I miss the smell of pine!

Oh Christmas Tree

My tree is a happy one this year.  Must be because of these little red heads…

This little angel is perched in the branches, watching over the tree.  She’s new and she’s from Nordstrom!

And the Allie dogs love their place among the ornaments…a pink Allie

And isn’t that Henrietta Whiskers in my tree?  Can you see her?  She’s a little shy.

My little feather tree sits in our family room and holds my childhood ornaments every year.

And every year my special collection of teddy bears adorn the dining room.

One of these days I’m going to have a tree filled with bunnies.  Seems the right thing to do.  Of course I’ll have to get a live tree to celebrate!

Anne
